If only Doran were to be standard legal with Jagged Poppet-whose ability goes off damage-and Burning-Tree Shaman. With those two and Phyrexian Ironfoot you would have a deck full to the brim of three-cost fatties. You'd have a 5/5 for three, and three different 4/4's for three.
Very nice card! Treefolk are my favorite tribe so far... is there any chance one of the other tribes can top them?
That being said, there are certainly ways to deal with this card, and since I don't think another "yay!" post will contribute much to the thread, I'll devote the rest of this post to list answers to this card for those who have begun to feel terror at the power of the trees.
Very, very strong. I'm actually a little bit worried about it, as most of the playable removal that we know about so far only hits non-black creatures. I mean, seriously... a tough to kill 5/5 for three. Maybe I'm just temporarily stunned, but this seems incredibly powerful and interesting. A solid end to preview week!

Yeah, Yodafan's pretty much a EDH pro.

This is a decent card, but people are overestimating it. Sure, a pseudo 5/5 body is very good, but the cost is pretty prohibitive too. The legendary status doesn't help it either. The design, on the other hand is amazing and I like it very mush, but I've been thinking. Why is a 5/5 such a big deal for wbg? Such a brutal cost should get you at least a 4/4 with an ability without the legendary thing. I still like it, but I'm not sure how easy will it be to actually cast this turn 2-3.

If fiery justice can hang out at the PT in TSP block, I'm pretty sure Doran will make a showing in T2.

Yes, but Fiery justice was either played in block (where Doran will certainly see play) or in certain standard decks that could abuse the card and had the RAV duals available. I'm sure we'll have a treefolk dual too, but treefolk as a tribe still seems iffy for constructed play despite 2 solid rares we know. Who knows, maybe I'm completely wrong on this, but still feels iffy.

The mechanic is very, VERY interesting. For one, this shuts down firebreathing creatures (most of them, at least), and if you're playing control, your army of defenders become bloody nasty (and then you send your Teneb for the finishing attack :D)
I was just checking the spoiler and how many legends we have spoiled already: a multicolored treefolk, a multicolored giant, a multicolored kithkin and a multicolored fairy. This leads me to believe we'll have a multicolored legend in every tribe (8 at least). But then we got a white legend and white is the main kithkin color. Perhaps this indicates a monocolored legend in the main color of every type (again, 8). The planeswalkers are essentially legends too. Not counting any possible artifact or land.
I might be way off on this one, but the legends are coming Kamigawa style.

Who cares about Treefolk? This guy's potential would be wasted in any slow deck. You don't play a 5/5 for 3 in control, don't you? You play him with Gaddok and Confidant to race your opponent. If we get decent support in either green or white this thing can be a metagame defining card. Imagine playing against normal aggro with this... scary.
Um, extended maybe? Bob the Burner leaves after Lorwyn becomes legal

I know the perfect guy for the third faction:
"When you show up to the Mirrodin Besieged Prerelease, you'll be asked to choose a faction: Mirran, Phyrexian, or Jaded A-Hole" Aaron Forsythe, on Twitter

I'm already considering a BWG aggro for extended.... would that make Tireless Tribe a better one drop than Savannah Lions? maybe! he's the kinda card you hafta build around....and that's not a problem for me...
I know that The Rock uses BGW, could they use this card?
It even pumps the occasional Exalted Angel
EDIT: Just looked at a The Rock-Decklist, and they can easily have the BGW in turn 2 with Birds of Paradise (which becomes a 1/1 flyer that can tap for mana for just G, I've always wanted to finish someone with BoP)
You people saying he's overly hard to cast obviously weren't around for Invasion block. Our color fixing is better now than it was then even without shocklands and I remember some 3 color cards being pretty playable then.
I love how he turns ornithopters into flying frogmites...

This card is just unbelievable! It's huge for its cost, resistant to loads of removal and in the best possible colors for reanimation, and the few removal spells it does die to are sideboard cards at best. Of course it'll tempt timmies to build a deck around it, but I just see it as a card that it just makes no sense not to include in any deck that will accomodate it. Of course, it means you want to stray away from high power creatures a bit, but I think as long as you make a deck that can function decently without this, it'll be an auto-include, and will turbo-charge any well-built treefolk deck. As mentioned earlier, Heartwood Storyteller means that even the few removal spells that can hit Doran will turn into cards for you, and the Storyteller becomes effectively 3/3 to boot. Deadwood Treefolk rummages through the yard and pulls your Doran out ready to be recast to swing with your 6/6 for 6, and Verdeloth is just the most absurdly unfair beater now that it's swinging in for 7 with all its saproling buddies in tow.
Being a huge EDH fan... I LOVE THIS GUY. He not only makes the second GBW General ever (first was Teneb)... he's VERY solid and fun to build around, even in a hundred card format. HUZZAH!
Wow!! veeeeery interesting!! It's nice to see how the tribal theme interacts nicely and flavourly. Who woul imagine that treefolks would be more than walls?
I like it, just need to see how deal with the 3 different mana cost!
I think this will definately compliment BoP. The BoP will allow for the pretty easy second turn drop and then the BoP becomes a small air threat. I like it.
Nice card, but you're not about to start putting in cards like Ornithopter that do nothing without him in play. There might be a deck for him, but maybe not.
Why not, Affinity sure did. And besides, you get a little FREE 0/2 wall holding off annoying early weenies while you ramp up to this guy.
Treefolk Harbinger
Creature – Treefolk Shaman
When Treefolk Harbinger comes into play, search your library for a Treefolk or Forest card and reveal it, then shuffle your library and put it on top of your library.

- this was in another thread, not 100% confirmed BUT if its true, it almost guarantees you will get Doran in everygame you play. SYNERGY FTW
Lumithread Field Verdeloth the Ancient and Life and Limb could help Doran, the Siege Tower in standard.
Conclave's Blessing Veteran Armorer could help Doran in extended.
You can make a all forest deck with Temple Garden, Overgrown Tomb, Windswept Heath, and Treefolk Seedlings.

White:
-Oblivion Ring
-Condemn
Blue:
-Crookclaw Transmuter
-Ovinize (in the middle of combat of course)
-(and counterspells of course)
Green:
-Tarmogoyf (with Tribal big, 4~5 card types in graveyards shouldn't be tough)
-Thornweald Archer
Red:
-Lightning Axe
Black:
-Fodder Launch
-Deathmark
This is by no means exhaustive. Of course, the best answer would be to play the card yourself =P.

Just cause Rav Shocklands are leaving doesn't mean that 3 color decks are impossible.
Lets see you still have...
Terrarmorphic Expanse
TSP allied Storage Lands
10 Pain Lands
Gemstone Mine
CSP allied CIPT Lands
Vesuva (Not true fixing but can help sometimes)
FS allied mixed dual Lands
Lorwyn CIPT race lands
Lorwyn CIPT psuedo storage/city of brass land
Shimmering Grotto
These may not be on the level of Temple Garden and his buddies but they are still viable somewhat.
Realize this is just the lands that fix mana not counting artifacts or creatures.
Feel free to bid on my cards here!
An-Havva Constable
Peope of the Woods
Shapeshifter (as a 0/7)
Taproot Kami
and my very favourite card to combo with this
Treefolk Seedlings
And of course many other cards that have already been mentioned.
This card will have FUN and confusing affects on meta from casual timmy to spike.
Multiplayer FFA will be ... chaos.
I might be way off on this one, but the legends are coming Kamigawa style.

Hmmz, Ornithopter actually becomes:
Ornithopter 0
Artifact Creature
Flying
2/2
And so does not lose the enemy's defeat.
Therefore, the victorious military is first victorious and after that does battle.
The defeated military first does battle and after that seeks victory."
