This + Beacon of Immortality or Martyr = Goodness. I kinda like this one, but I wished it kinda gave you an Ivory Mask effect, since that was rotated. At least it costs 4.
Um, that's why they reprinted True Believer in 10ed...
think of if you have the time to keep here alive long enough that she can pump out the token and still have 1 loyalty, so that token get's +2/+2 every turn.. nice. built in Marshalling Cry seems good,
One problem with that. There's 1 key thing alot of you seem to be missing with this card. This card sets the Avatar's p/t upon resolution of the ability and that's that.
Ajani Goldmane 2WW Planeswalker - Ajani +1: You gain 2 life -1: Creatures you control get +1/+1 and vigilance until end of turn -6: Put an X/X white Avatar creature token into play with power and toughness each equal to your life total. Loyalty: 4 Rare.
The tokens are X/X not */*, and it doesn't give the creature an ability to set it's p/t equal to your life total, it only initially sets the token's p/t to your life total. However, this also means that no matter how much your life total drops, as long as that big fat whitey isn't removed, it stays big and fat.
Not very impressive, but if this is to be the leat powerful of all the PWs, then its fine by me. Heres hoping Jace is more impressive. Also, great find Hydro, much appreciated, would've hated to wait too much longer with images of 'raise the alarm' and 'orim's chant' getting my hopes up.
I'm even more disappointed now that these PWs are all new characters. Design space for their ability's seem like fairly simple recycle jobs, and with the sorcery speed limit built in with little to no room for exception, (dunno if this possibility has been mentioned before, +1:You may use this PWs other abilitys on your opponent's next turn.), the recycle options seem even more narrow. Sure would've been nice to get timeshifted PWs like Nicol Bolas, Teferi, Jeska, Leshrac, Karn, etc. etc. before other miscellaneous PWs started taking away fun recycle options.

"Dark Ritual, Hypnotic Specter, Hymn to Tourach. If there is an unholy trio in Magic, this is it. These three cards have been wreaking havoc and crushing dreams for over a decade. They're like the New York Yankees, except powered by black magic. Oh, wait... never mind." Chris Millar House of Cards
God i am making a deck around this guy. use a little Martyr, use a little Beacon, throw a ring in. maybe splash a little Blue for good control and furthering the cause. could turn out pretty well. Turbo Fog + Loxodon Warhammer on the newly created Serra Avatar (with a set P/T) token and call it a good day, as you set up for a bigger token over the next few turns. it will require much playtesting, but it will be interesting.
Its a control card, not an aggro card. And i really dont see a problem with gaining 4 life before making a creature with P/T = My life total. And gaining 2 life a turn isnt a bad thing either. it makes it that unless your opponent is attacking for at least 3, it basicly doesnt do damage to you. and because that is the loyalty builder ability, they have to do at least 2 damage to it to make a difference also.
white weenie doing its thang again! for four mana, you have something that mixes lifegain and offense in one package. just keep on using his 2nd ability to make your army stronger, then when ajani's getting unloyal, use his lifegain ability to heal ya and himself at the same time!
i think that's the greatest synergy in this card: it's with HIMSELF and YOU. pretty self-serving for a white card. he uses his 2nd ability to give YOU more life and give HIMSELF more loyalty. talk about selfishness!

ANyone notice that most of the planeswalkers are like the hondins?
Black's +1: Discard a card.
Red's +1: 1 damage to a player (honden was or creature, but still)
White's +1: +2 life
Green's -1: 3/3 (Green honden gave a 1/1)
So... Blue's probably going to have a draw card effect if this pattern continues.

-Hail Bugle, Emperor of all Weirdos! Those who are about to die of weirdness salute you!
Worst Planeswalker so far. The first two abilities don't really DO anything. Was hoping they could get a little more creative, seeing as white is so flavor-weak these days.
Who cares about the first two abilities? It's the third that makes the card good. Remember that Pandemonium is standard legal. A good white control deck should be able to be around 15-20 life by turn 6.Slam a gigantic Avatar, deal huge damage to opponent and then finish with burn spells and weenies. I like Ajani

Ajani Goldmane 5W
Planeswalker - Ajani
+1: Put a 1/1 white Soldier token into play.
-2: Gain 2 life for each creature target player controls.
-8: Put a Legendary Creature token named Serra Avatar into play. It has trample, and its power and toughness are each equal to your life total.

W00t! Called that uber ability Anyways, looks like a fun card, a sick finisher for U/W control. I'm thinking we'll see the return of U/W control due to things like this and the recently spoiled Cryptic Command.
Basically this is a glorious anthem + serra's blessing rolled into one, which is maybe useful in aggro mirror. The other two abilities might as well not even exist.
Hmm, this walker is interesting. And it has been said, *** board, lay down Ajani, and in 2 turns Avatar into play.
Life/Fog decks anyone? And like the others its prone to be burned. But, this is why you have those "Illusionary Mask" effects in FS and Xth.
Cheaper like the green one but, the 2nd ability seems to increase your standing army rather then help you build one. Which makes sense for white to have. The life gain is always nice to see on the plus side.
Not bad. Generally on the same bar of power for white.

This bad boy is going to see some play. It won't be hard to get him to go off... providing they don't print any major "lose all loyalty" type cards in this set (which they shouldn't if they want these to make a impact right away)... this one is the most impressive to me yet.
His +1 ability is totally useless. It has no long term effect on the game. So what you gained 1 life? I prefer to force a ditch on you (Liliana). That is card advantage. His second and 3rd abilities seem a little better but overall he isn't as good as the previous ones before him. IF this rumor is true then Garruk is way better. I prefer -1 3/3 token and overrun for -4. Or even -8: 10 damage to everything (Chandra). I was expecting this though. White sux in mechanix. Gainlife = no point.
Cute design. I was kind of expecting a "vengeance" theme, seeing Ajani's backstory, but that works for me. It will probably see less serious play than Chandra and Garruk, but it's certainly more playable than overrated Liliana.

And like has been said, it combos nicely with his big Serra Avatar ability. Also, if you manage to play the -6 ability and leave him with a loyalty counter, you can pump the avatar every turn.
Also, white life gain has been somewhat popular in Standard for the first time, with Martyr and Beacon. So Ajani certainly has a niche to fill.
lol well ppl can believe what they want. You can start with 22 life if u so wish but for that you'd start at 6 cards. Now that is what it's all about. Liliana beats his ass 10 times over.
Arjani Goldmane- well it's cheap costing only 2WW it has an okay starting loyalty of 4(i'm a bit surprised that it wasn't higher for a white planeswalker), to +1 ability is good giving you a 2 point Honden of Cleansing Fire style lifegain each turn, the second ability which is nicely costed at only -1 is very solid allowing you to alpha strike with your creatures which are now a bit bigger and will still be able to block, the third ability costing only -6(meaning it only needs 2 activations of the +1 ability(3 if you want Ajani to stay around)) gives you a Serra Avatar token(last time I checked that's pretty strong, especially with the +1 ability keeping your life total nice and high).
