Actually, the Elf Sorcery is insane with garruk. Elf, Elf, Untap 2 lands, Elf Elf, promenade for 4+ more elves.
either they Damnation, or you overrun and eat their faces.
Tasty.
Haha, that would be a phenomenal series of events. I dont see the sorcery strictly as a win more card. It could be, but it can also be a "Secure the win" card. *sigh*

Yeah, it is definitely a "kill my army before I kill you" card.
As for the other 2 elves: Wren's Run Vanquisher :1mana::symg:
Creature - Elf Warrior
As an additional cost to play Wren's Run Vanquisher, reveal an elf card from your hand or pay
Deathtouch
3/3
UNCOMMON
and my personal favorite:
HUNTER of Eyeblights :3mana::symb::symb:
Creature -Elf Assassin
When Hunter of Eyeblights comes into play, put a +1/+1 counter on target creature you don't control.
:2mana::symb:,: destroy target creature with a counter on it.
3/3
UNCOMMON
A 3/3 deathtouch elf? So it is another of the "reveal" power creature cycle. Really good card there along with the other deathtouch elves and wolves that are floating around. Man elves are hitting critical mass here with all these power elves.
The Assassin is okay and can work by himself without the other elves. Makes him a removal pick in limited at the least. Plus he can work with the other treefolk to kill off things in other decks. Not bad.
[card=Dismal Failure]"Two magi could trade spells all day and never crown a victor.
The real battle is not one of power but of will.
If your confidence breaks, so too shall you." —Venser[/card]
Well for the most part they seem kind of boring and probably not that useful, but the Wren's Run Vanquisher should prove to be very playable in standard. As for the Hunter of Eyeblights, that would be a nice combo with Sheltering Ancient. Nice find. Thanks.
vanquisher is a beast in limited, 5 for a 3/3 deathtouch is fair, but if you have an elf its ridiculous. Interesting how they've split up zoo across the tribes: you can have Lions OR Watchwolf, but not both.
The assassin is garbage. I'd take a royal (which is in tenth) over that any day. Not to mention icy is in tenth as well. Not to mention all the cards so far that we've seen that can tap creatures in lorwyn. The elf assassin is just too much mana and too limited in scope to bother with. Flavor-wise assassins shouldn't be fat 3/3's they should be small stealthy and quick. And what the hell is with the +1/+1 counter? Why would an assassin make an enemy stronger???
I love the flavor of the Hunter of Eyeblights. It's like counters are zits or pimples or sores.

Theme of the story: Elves prize beauty and what they consider ugly they hunt down and kill. So, any counter (not just +1/+1's) is an anomoly to be destroyed. Like your glass beads are actually warts or zits. Kinda cool conceptually, IMO.
Wren's Run Vanquisher is just another card in that cycle that lets you pay partial costs by revealing other cards of the same tribe.
I love the flavor of the Hunter of Eyeblights. It's like counters are zits or pimples or sores. It might be okay in limited as repeatable but inconsistent removal, but it is too expensive and slow to be any good in Constructed.
Go "HUNTER of Rumors"! Thanks.

Ok, so I saw the Wren's Run Vanquisher and I thought "sweet, a replacement for Watchwolf!" and almost skipped to the next card but the corner of my eye caught that little "Deathtouch" line and I almost fell from my chair! How absurd is that? A very efficient creature that can trade with much bigger (and expensive) creatures in the late game? yes, please! Best green's 2 drop after tarmogoyf.
I'm calling it right now- worst rare in the set. Even good limited players will find better bombs at common and uncommon no sweat. Worst. Episode. Ever.
I really do predict this to be our worst rare in set award winner. I'd be happier opening a jar of eyeballs, so I think anything worse is highly unlikely. This card wont just have zero constructed potential, but not be significantly better than a mass of ghouls in a draft.
Hmm, its funny how latly the spoilers are making every tribe look awsome...except giants. Im a elemntal player so it doesnt really bother me but all of the tribes so far have "OMG So Powerfull" cards except giants sure they have their legendary but one Lifelinked 4/4 aint gonna be a entire deck. So mabey the rumor gods could give them some help and give the giants some love.

Quite a few cards from every set are never intended for play outside of limited, casual, and maybe block. The assassin is an interesting limited card: slow removal with a drawback, but which can be turned into very strong reusable removal with the right spells.
Immaculate Magistrate and Elvish Promenade seem to be a return to Onslaught block elves, like Wellwisher and Wirewood channeler.
interesting.
Inquest already let us know that Elves 'care about how many', and make lots of tokens of themselves.
The difference was that in Onslaught...every tribe seemed to care about 'how many'.

We are all cursed men. The degree to which each man is cursed lies with their sins.
And what the hell is with the +1/+1 counter? Why would an assassin make an enemy stronger???
I of Irish Heritage will answer this question. It is of flavor not of effect.
Celtic Assassins infiltrated the army of their supposed enemy, as they were
often times hired for outside work.
They were usually placed in a position close to the General/Lord as they were skilled in defensive measures.
And so they became advisers and increased the strength of the General's or Lord's defensive capability to seam like they were helping and when they were left trusted "inside" the safety of the defenses the assassin would strike. Often times the assassin never escaped but that hardly mattered the damage had been done and in those days if the lord dies then their army became mercenaries or were disbanded.
Actually I imagine the flavour of +1/+1 counters and the assassin to be like, say, imagine the +1/+1 counter being a piece of cytoplast from Ravnica or just simply extra buff that breaks the elves' impression of "perfection", and thus must be culled. Just think of a supermodel, then add a blob of cytoplast on her face.

Wrath of God couldn't be more religious if the picture was Jesus smacking demons with a jug of Holy Water.
The +1/+1 counter is a way of balancing the effect, I would think.
The flavor is that the card 'marks' their target when it comes into play.
With the +1/+1 counter on the creature the creature is 'different', and the elves don't like 'different', so it can therefore be destroyed.

well, i dont know about that i still think its a funky ability it might be good against other elf decks using cards like the Magistrate or counter pumpage like shape of the witiigo if anyone still plays that
