Kia Ora everyone! I hope y'all are having a great day...
Right, lets get [LOR] rumor season pumping eh?
Here's the tip: a mysterious note was left for me this morning when I logged in: So here it goes: It was in Portugese/Spanish, and mine is rather rusty, so translations would be great!

You know, strangely enough, I just noticed that there are a few Kithkin cards in the Time Spiral block that arent in Future Sight. Like Armou Scout, it blew my mind when I saw that a couple days ago.
If anyone knows why G0-DRAW was banned I would love it if they would PM me. That guy was pure entertainment 100% of the time. Plus he never publicly responded to his Contraptions "Proof" that never panned out.
[card=Dismal Failure]"Two magi could trade spells all day and never crown a victor.
The real battle is not one of power but of will.
If your confidence breaks, so too shall you." —Venser[/card]
An interesting sidenote: Alot more elementals have been printed in RAV and TSP blocks than normal.
98 elementals total
22 in Time Spiral (27 if you count coldsnap)
18 in Ravnica
0 in Kamigawa (replaced by spirits)
9 in Mirrodin
6 in Onslaught
2 in Odyssey
3 in Invasion
So, yeah, elemental tribal sounds like it's been in the works for a while. Chalk it up to inter-block planning, IMO.

"One skilled at battle takes a stand in the ground of no defeat
And so does not lose the enemy's defeat.
Therefore, the victorious military is first victorious and after that does battle.
The defeated military first does battle and after that seeks victory."
Triton is Spanish for merfolk for those thinking that's what the WU deck says.
I don't think these precons necessarily indicate tribal. The majority of ONS precons didn't mention creature type in the name and there are non-tribal block precons which are type themed. For example CHK had a large number of tribal themed precons.
So besides 4 of them having names that heavily suggest a Tribal theme, what else does there need to be? A giant glowing red neon light that blinks saying "LORWYN IS A TRIBAL SET! PLEASE STOP MAKING THEORIES UP!"?
Plus the last one has a name that could end up being related to a tribe too, mostly due to ambiguities in translation.
If anyone knows why G0-DRAW was banned I would love it if they would PM me. That guy was pure entertainment 100% of the time. Plus he never publicly responded to his Contraptions "Proof" that never panned out.
I've been waiting to post this crazy speculation for months, but I never saw the "in", so to speak:
There are NO MERFOLK in Lorwyn, but there is a new blue race that is roughly equivalent. With legs.
It appears that they may be MERROW.
All of the other precons are tribal. They all have a creature type in their name. I'm going to assume that the U/W one fits this trend. If we know that TRITON is the Spanish word for merfolk, it stands to reason that we have something else besides merfolk here.
I think it would be a great idea. Merrow are real-world mythological creatures (Irish, no less) and blue needs an iconic race. With legs. I suspect mefolk have been making a return just to highlight the difference between the two.

You know when Goblins became akki while they actually aren't the same thing. Well, this is too. It's just Merfolk, my plain old merfolk, my favourite creature type. I don't understand why it isWU, but I don't hope there will be white Merfolk. I hate it when the put an iconic creature in another color.

Tay, that's not evolution. It's metamorphosis. Evolution means descent with heritable modification – individuals cannot evolve, unless they're Pokemon.

You reserve the right to be correct, and I reserve the right to be wrong.
Of course, I hope I'm right.
More than anything, creature types that end in "-folk" are a pet peeve of mine. Treefolk, townsfolk, moonfolk, merfolk, I want them all to disappear.
Lorwyn Major Race Types
White: Kithkin
Blue: Merfolk, under the name Merrow or Siren (As opposed to the Rootwater or Vodalian strains; compare Kyren versus Akki versus Mogg goblins)
Black: Boggarts (Perhaps not Boggart on the creature type line)
Red: Err... I have NO IDEA. Goblins seem very likely.
Green: Faeries
All Colors: Elementals in every color, moreso than in other blocks.

No! Why treefolk, I love them too. Those are the creatures that tell the stories like a grandfather and stuff like that.
By the way, I hope there won't be Goblins. No precon in any way.

It's not uncommon to have at least one tribal precon and 2 or 3 is not unheard of, especially if they're important to the flavor or story of the set like in Kamigawa. Right now elf, kithkin, and elemental seem more analogous to CHK's snake, samurai, and spirit than ONS' bird, cleric, illusion, and beast.
IE: The races are more important to the story and flavor of LOR than the mechanic theme.
Finding out about 3 tribal precons in LOR is not anomalous enough to confirm whether it is or isn't tribal and we already have suggestions for an enchantment block. At the very most these two theories are now equal.
