Welcome once again to Hydro's back yard: The Rumor Mill.
You see I've been doing this for a few seasons now and I ain't thinkin' bout quittin'... so if you'll bear with me, I've got a few things to get off my chest:
'Bitter Ordeal'
A short spoiler by Hydrokinesis
Now, you're probably saying to yourselves, what the heck is he going on about... Bitter Ordeal? Well you see it all began earlier today with a fortune cookie and an anonymous phone message... and some of you who know me well know that that has something to do with Black being my favorite colour, namely:
'2B'
Seems strange don't it... and what does this have to do with 'Bitter Ordeal" well, I'm getting to that. How about this for strange:
"Sorcery"
Yep, I've dabbled in a few shady and mystical things, you might call them Sorcery (or partying), drank a little too much, ran a red light or 14, but nothing compares to when I did this:
"Search target player's library for a card and remove that card from the game.Then that player shuffles his or her library"
ah... yes, I remember that well... and what's more, I topped it off with one of these...
Gravestorm (When you play this spell, copy it for each permanent put into a graveyard from play this turn.You may choose new targets for the copies.)
Still wondering where I'm going with this 'Bitter Ordeal...'? Well, I better wrap it up with how I like my steaks done:
'Rare.'
And lastly, for those who like their spoilers easy to follow:
Bitter Ordeal 2B Sorcery Search target player's library for a card and remove that card from the game.Then that player shuffles his or her library Gravestorm (when you play this spell, copy it for each permanent put into a graveyard from play this turn.You may choose new targets for the copies.) Rare.
GoGoHydro! Because of gravestorm, I guess this is a timeshifted card?
I'd guess that gravestorm is just a variant on storm like how landcycing was a variant of cycling. It could still be timeshifted but that makes it seem less likely.
As for this card, I guess it works with the Saffi-Champion combo. As a sorcery though, this card doesn't seem particularly exciting outside of combo. At its best without the aid of some kind of combination, its just a horrendous Cranial Extraction.....
Then again, all storm cards have found a way (almost all anyways, how lonely must Sprouting Vines and Scattershot must be), so I'm sure this one will pop up somewhere.
Dammit Hydro, I hate all your teasing with thems spoilers. Kinda fun though, hiding spoiler into behind spoiler tags.:p
I'm guessing this is a timeshifted card also. Looks pretty good, though I don't know if this has a home in any current decks. Kinda makes me wish for Dark Ritual back.

Meh. Storm was fine, no need for Gravestorm to be made. Not very original imo.
Gravestorm was a card. Funny. I like it though, perhaps something could be built around it but doesn't seem too reliable.
Hydro, still no word from the aliens? I'm telling you, they have the whole spoiler.

Hydro, still no word from the aliens? I'm telling you, they have the whole spoiler.
Shhh, you're letting on! Only WOTC 'employees' know of MARO's true nature.
and to answer a popular question, this is a timeshifted card, as Sed's has already pointed out all new keywords (Even those keywords for old abilities) will be on 'shifted card frames only...
I was just thinking that maybe they would do a cycle of storm
Mindstorm = blue (card draw)
Naturestorm=green (lands put into play )
Firestorm=Red (damage dealt)
Aurastorm= white (enchantments in play)
Gravestorm = black.
If they don't do it I certainly will for my next set
Must. Have. Firestorm. Now!
I think this card is interesting. It looks like the kind of card that will be a good challenge to build a deck around: reasonably difficult, but definitely possible and awesomely rewarding.
As for what someone said about no cards hosing MGA, I reckon I could smile about using Damnation and Bitter Ordeal on the same turn, followed by Djiin Illuminatus and Extirpate on all the deaded creatures...
*VK smiles dreamily and imagines increasingly ridiculous board positions, in which he is usually laughing evilly.*
This card is going to just mangle control in most cases... I mean, think about it. R/B control with Gargadon and Gravestorm cards? Dralnu better have all the godly permission that everyone raves about, because if they don't stop a Well timed bitter ordeal, that's game over.
DRAGONSTORM EVEN! I mean, it's a desperate attempt sure, but think about a Greater Gargadon turn one, Mogg War Marshall turn 2, turn 3 on upkeep, sac marshal to gargadon, sac the two tokens, then tap for 3 mana, and sac the three lands(Maybe one is a Flagstones of Trokair?), boom. Ordeal FTW.
Of course remand would ruin you.... But like any card, you'd have to play smart with it.
Btw, I quoted you hydro, it was too good to pass up
I don't really get the excitement with Greater Gargadon. You just blew up at least 1/3 of your board to cast a bad Cranial Extraction that has no bearing on the game state? I mean, you don't even get to look at hands.
The Realmbreaker speaks the truth. I don't think it's worth sacrificing any of your permanents just to feed the card, even if it feeds Greater Gargadon as well.
It'd be awesome to build a deck around it...but preferably not one where you just blow up all your own stuff on Turn 3, take six or seven cards from your opponent's library, and then suddenly realise that you haven't really done anything because you now have nothing except a semi-suspended Beast who will likely just get countered anyway.
It would be nice if they stopped printing graveyard mechanics for a while. There are plenty of broken graveyard mechanics/cards already. Just because Tormod's Crypt is legal doesn't mean there isn't a saturation point.
well... they did print (still rumoured) Yixlid Jailer ... so I guess they nuked (or are attempting) some grave tech

Greater Gargadon is the Giant Beast that Timmy's love to play, and that one card that Johnnie's have to break (Second in line only to the Johnny god, Stuffy Doll). It's a good fun card that deserved trample, and otherwise was nicely designed. Other than that, I think it's the ability to control your gravestorm count that makes it stand out so much here.
It'd have to be in a deck geared toward gravestorm, hopefully if there enough gravestorm cards, it'd work out alright. It's not so much the card as it is the ability that I'm personally excited about.
And did you not see in all Caps Lock (A.K.A.-Cruise control for cool) that I said Dragonstorm? If you take away those dragons, they're done. Now, of course that's assuming that they don't have one in hand. (I mean, if they have a lotus bloom out and seething song and a Bogardan Hellkite in hand, you could just get owned.)I obviously see your point, and I doubt I would actually do something that reckless in an actual game, but it was a hypothetical situation where you essentially beat them 3rd turn.
In dralnu, if you somehow find them tapped out for some ungodly reason, if you take away their vampires and teferi's, that's also game.
Also, you could consider it better than Cranial Extraction in the sense that it can grab different win conditions too, and it would be great against a deck that tutors for a lot of one-of's and such. Not to mention it can grab land cards such as Urza's Factory, or even the 4 Mines, Towers, or Power Plants that your opponent may need to complete tron (Another long shot, I know.).
Of course, as your thinking, it's worse since it has no bearing on your opponents hand or graveyard, and I agree the fact that it can't affect the feild does suck, but the overwhelming power it may hold to change the future of the game seems to make up for that in my eyes.
In reality, they're two totally different cards, and just because they can remove cards in the library from the game doesn't mean that they are that similar.
Edit: Whoa, When did you become an admin Lesurgo, I thought you were still just a T2 mod?
Lol, Congrats regardless.
Double Edit: Also, Mindslicer tends to be Greater Gargadon's best Freind, and could be sac'd right after playing Ordeal, it wouldn't add to gravestorm, but could put the game into your favor?
Glimpse the Unthinkable+Bitter Ordeal = good idea?
"Gravestorm (when you play this spell, copy it for each permanent put into a graveyard from play this turn.You may choose new targets for the copies.)"
Nope. Not at all really, since Glimpse doesn't hit permanents in play. Also, I doubt cards in libraries can be considered permanents... Right?
Oh my that is so insideous caesarion, 2x Glimpses + 2x Bitter Ordeals and thats your opponents library gone practically if they are playing with 60 cards, if 40 its bye-bye. Truly a nasty card, I like the Gravestorm ability already...
But.... It doesn't work like that at all... and that requires 2 of each of those cards and ten mana... They shouldn't even have 60 cards by then...
Once again, just so you all know:
"Gravestorm (when you play this spell, copy it for each permanent put into a graveyard from play this turn.You may choose new targets for the copies.)"
If this was an instant, casting it in response to Wrath of God could remove all other copies of Wrath from your foe's deck. As a sorcery, you have to sacrifice your resources yourself. Greater Gargadon ftw? Sac all your permanents, remove anything your opponent might have against gargadon, GG.
does that gravestorm count tokens going to the graveyard? if it does play it in a G/B deck with Nactal(spoiled green FS card, put a copy of it into play for each creature opponent controls when attacking), attack with it, opponent blocks all them, go to graveyard, then play this and you could remove a lot of cards.
Tokens kind of... "Flow through" the graveyard. They go there, but they don't stay, so yes, it'd work fine with any token decks you might be playing.
You see I've been doing this for a few seasons now and I ain't thinkin' bout quittin'... so if you'll bear with me, I've got a few things to get off my chest:
