Greetings all, just making a thread for some information many may have missed from the last page of the compiled info thread.
A big thanks to thestonedkoala who has reported at least two cards featured in this month's issue of Scrye magazine, they are as follows:
Llanowar Mentor G
Elf Spellshaper G, tap, Discard a card: Put a 1/1 Green Elf druid creature token named Llanowar Elves into play "with Tap: Add G to your mana pool."
1/1
Uncommon
And... of course the already well known:
Sliver Legion WUBRG
Legendary Creature - Sliver
All Sliver creatures get +1/1 for each other Sliver in play.
7/7
Rare
While these were known in some capacity, it's nice to have yet another confirmation on both "creature shapers" and the third Sliver Lord (venser was really right huh? ;))
And...
Please keep your eyes peeled for more cards from this issue of Scrye magazine, there's usually more than a couple of cards to be found, so get hunting!
What's that Venser was right about another part? Imagine that - people are so quick to flame and reflame the poor guy, and yet again more that proves what he was saying.
you can generally tell the easiest road to victory by how many players congregate on it; and the road of counterspells/control has been the freeway of choice in magic for quite some time.

What I find offensive is not that Wizards is endeavoring to make the game more accessible, but the attitudes of elitists who act as though no one of any age should show their face in the Magic public without first having mastery over the complexities of the game.
Well, really I just thought it was weird that they're giving names to non-legendary tokens. Were they afraid that if one of the shapers, say, spits out a 2/1 Cat token for W, we wouldn't know what creature it represented? But then I was reminded of Kher Keep...

'Lo, there do I see my father. 'Lo, there do I see my mother, and my sisters, and my brothers. 'Lo, there do I see the line of my people back to the beginning. 'Lo, they do call to me. They bid me to take my place amongst them in the halls of Valhalla. Where the brave may live forever.
Rumour season is back! It is what we have all been waiting for. Thanks Hydro.
wonder how token elf will interact with pithing needle, it has the same name but isn't a card! mind-boggling!
Pithing Needle has never stopped mana abilities, so no confusion there.
However, if there was another spellshaper that created a creature with an activated ability that is not a mana ability, then Pithing Needle would work against it because its Oracle text says "Activated abilities of permanents with that name can't be played unless they're mana abilities."

- Chuck Norris counted to infinity twice—because he was trying to count how much damage Jon Finkel deals in an average game.

Is it me or is llanowar mentor really going to help T2 dredge. It discards a card and feeds flashbacked dread return. Great card!
Turn one forest, Llanawar mentor.
Turn two, tap, discard dread return to make an elf, forest
Turn three, tap, discard fattie, sac both tokens and the mentor to flash dread return and get that fattie out.

i am really disappointed no1 has a pic of either cards.... that would usually get me more excited. i still like sliver queen the best out of the 5 colored slivers.
I really like some of the thinking behind Llanowar Mentor (creature tokens with names, especially). Too bad it sucks bowling balls through a tailpipe!
Really, the whole advantage of Llanowar Elves is to help you curve out. This does not help you curve out. Quite the opposite, it eats your first two turns and a card (Llanowar Mentor itself) to have you get to business on turn 3. I can think of better things to do with those resources.
If this thing levels off above $1.00 it will surprise me (no accounting for the initial mad grab prices, though).

It's an uncommon and a spellshaper, not intended to be that big of a deal.
I am surprised the 'shaper cycle is uncommon.
I guess in limited it is really gross to have them all as commons, which makes sense, especially since there is a sliver one, which will be the best in limited in the right conditions...
Shame we know both of these.
The partial spoiler will be up soon, we just need to iron a thing or two out first.

The Llanowar Mentor will go in the G/B dredge deck, question is what will it replace? Greenseeker is such a good card since you really do not run that many lands. The deck is going top get just a little more packed. Of course, I want to see what the black one is before I make a complete judgment on whether or not the this gem will be a new weapon in G/B dredge. Though I do believe it will be used whether or not the black one is good or not.
What's that Venser was right about another part? Imagine that - people are so quick to flame and reflame the poor guy, and yet again more that proves what he was saying.
This is actually the same thing as before, just 100% confirmed now...
Llanowar Mentor - G
Creature - Elf Spellshaper (U) G, :symtap:, Discard a card: Put a 1/1 green Elf Druid creature token named Llanowar Elves with ":symtap: : Add G to your mana pool." into play.
1/1
In Limited, the Crier has better synergy with Fortify, becoming a win condition twice as fast, while also being twice as effective at stalling an enemy creature rush. (Although the Mentor helps power out fatties, which is obviously good too.)

The Speculation forum will go crazy over this.
Regardless, thanks!

Not really. I'm sure there's a few I've missed as well.
Summonshapers (sorry Fear Mage) = Win.
Sliver lord = Eep! Don't tell my multiplayer group!
The whole naming tokens thing, I mean.

Oh! I think previews will be running in next Month's Scrye...

Assuming it's correct, it's certainly better than Icatian Crier, isn't it?
- costs 1/3 as much to get out
- better creature type
- the tokens tap for mana
You only get one token for a card and one mana, as opposed to two tokens for a card and two mana, but overall I think it's a much stronger card.
