So this story goes out to Tyler_Durden and everyone else who hates Me and hunters adventures in Rumormongering...
I forgot to tell y'all about my crazy Easter bonfire experience I had on saturday night... I'm still coming to terms with it myself, as it was truely something supernatural...
We were burning the bonfire as we do every year at Easter at my Fathers house, the Moon (Lady Lunar) was up, stars were out, and the night sky was peaceful and serene...
Granted, I had had a few burbons before laying back and looking up at the stars to watch the clouds pass slowly by... But it was at that moment I noticed the cloud formations we're eeringly strange... What was going on...? It was clear but a minute ago, but now the clouds were in the distinctive shape of a sexy and curvy Dutch woman!!!
GAH!!! I jumped to my feet and looked upwards again, only to be greeted with the following message written in the heavens...
"A cycle of Textless cards in [FS] Hydro!!!... Futureshifted frames, Vanilla creatures... one for each colour..."
then the following cards, in their full glory:
Blade of the Sixth Pride 1W Creature - Rebel Cat Warrior 3/1 Common
We have this art...
Blind Phantasm 2U Creature - Illusion 2/3 Common
Mass of Ghouls 3BB Creature - Zombie Warrior 5/3 Common
Nessian Courser 2G Creature - Centaur Warrior 3/3 Common
And...
Fomori Nomad 4R Creature - Nomad Giant 4/4 Common
"we have the art for this" The message said "...it's the big horned dude art form MTG.com a few weeks ago bro..." It said.
The frames on these cards have been extended to allow a much greater display of each picture, like the textless promo cards we often get, and full compliments to WOTC, they look really good too!
The clouds then formed the following:
"The black 'Tolaria West' land in the cycle has Dredge 2..."
"There's a 'Rough & Tumble' Red Dragon..."
"There are Tapping Enchantments..."
And then they dissapapeared...
Obviously they had been working hard with smoke machines andairplanes to get this message to me, GOD KNOWS what they have instore for Hunter...
So i guess these were the textless cards that somebody mentioned back then... So are they supposed to have abilities that we do not know? Or are they simply Vanilla cards?
[Edit] Bleah, shoulda read the story properly. So anyway, cool cards, decent vanilla limited fodder I guess. Strange though, that a vanilla creature should appear on an FS precon box.
Sixth Pride is neat for zoo - But that's obvious. I wonder, will they have larger images on the textless cards? That would be quite interesting if they did!
Hmmm... I don't think any of the vanilla creatures are player except MAYBE the Blade of the Sixth pride, since 1W for 3 power without drawback is undeniably likeable for aggro, especially at common. Anyone think it'll be run in Boros/Zoo/White Weenie/UW Aggro? (Not that those decks are particularly competitive right now anyways...) I might get a playset of them if the art is hot anyways. And if the white one is that Cat art that we all thought was the white shapeshaper, that'd be pretty cool.
Why not? There's never been anything in the rules stating they can't be, and it's a lot less clunky than adding "this ability can only be used once each turn" to activated abilities every time they want to restrict an ability's usage.
[edit] ...And he apparently deleted his post, so this is kinda moot now...
About time they made enchantments that tap, Halcyon Glaze and the Opals etc. don't count and they cna make them coloured abilities without mana every turn (short of only play this ability if you have [basic land type restriction]).
On the not so complaining hand, by 'rough tumble dragon' I will guess that it is a spellshaper that casts them. That dredge land seems like smallpox just got another best friend.
Elspeth "we must fight to protect order and justice!"
Tezzeret "No! he will break all my artifacts and stomp my head!"
Vol "powerful dragon must be brought to heel!"
Ajani "**** this Im outta *planeswalks to lorwyn* wow what hell is this place?"
Little lorwyn goblin "this be the place of bad art and Tribes!!!"
All other Alara planeswalkers "hey where did ajani go???"
This guy has to be a white spell. The coloration speaks volumes.
Remember the arguement that Mystic Sphinx has to be green because of the artwork?
Also I always thought that Vanillas should be textless, because vanillas by thier very nature aren't that flavorful usually, and therefore get horrible flavor text. I would be happy if it was a permanent change.
Also I always liked VenserTheNewPlaneswalker he was a little cocky, gruff, and arrogant, but when you are the dedicated to getting info out so early, even when it could cause you personal harm (We all know R&D are high ranking hobbits in D&D, that don't appreciaye R&R, because they would rather make a block named after PB&J, even though BLT's are better. Done Rant.) I believe you have every right to be like that, plus he added a nice dinamic to the Rumormonger team.
The Rumor Team
(Que theme song)
La La La
Rancord Elf(Deceased) - Straight Foward, no nonsense guy, with a sense of humor
Brother Hydro - Wise man that wants you to learn the answers yourself
Hunter - Player with the ladies, and the guy that always has a good story to tell
Orange_Mage - Creepy Guy that is orange, likes his numbers though
VenserTheNewPlaneswalker - Tough and Gruff, you think he's wrong, just wait, he'll get the last laugh
La La La
Fighting through R&D
Making Rosewater curse in his sleep The Rumor Team!!!
Wow!!! That was pretty bad, I probably should not become a song writer.:D
Here's what I think: these textless cards are vanilla right now, but they won't always be so.
When a future set comes out, they will be reprinted with the exact same name...but with:
(1) an additional positive ability
AND
(2) a drawback
By having the additional positive ability and the drawback together, they keep the card at the same power level, while by reprinting them they force an update of the Oracle text (and hence a retroactive update of the old textless cards from Future Sight), and Wizards can say, "Hey, look, we're so cool and full of foresight, we gave you a glimpse of these creatures back in Future Sight."

- Chuck Norris counted to infinity twice—because he was trying to count how much damage Jon Finkel deals in an average game.
- Jon Finkel believes in maintaining a healthy, balanced diet. He gets all his fiber from eating Magic cards for breakfast, and all his protein from eating Magic players for lunch.
Don't forget that the futureshifted cards only show possible futures - not necessarily ones that will come to pass, or from the next block only.
For example, "Nessian Courser" refers to Greek mythology - Nessus was the centaur who poisoned Hercules.
I'd love to see a block based on 300 (the movie / Frank Miller comic series), with Greeks and Persians.
Nessian Courser - Greek
Seht's Tiger - Egyptian
A classical period block, perhaps?

5 slot to vannila creatures. tut tut wizards. The white one will see play and maybe the green and blue ones, in limited at least. Meh, is all I can say. Cool in foil though.

They're really flexing their muscles with this set. I don't think there's a better way to describe it.
Indeed, Venserthenewplaneswalker was quite the oracle... Pity he was scared off by the skeptics eh?
Ultimate hate of Spellstutter Sprite!
You just lost the game!!!

My Tamanoa decklist (RGW), infuriating my brother since it's so junky!
This one?
Hmm, on second glance (Adn the clouds outside ) it's amazingly similar, but not quite that one... Maybe that art is for another Fomori Giant?
i'm guessing he was scared off by the PMs that read "wanna keep your job, new guy?"
