Alright, so I was having my usual depressing supper of Campbell's vegetable soup (over the kitchen sink, naturally) when I dropped my bowl. First I was pissed that I ruined my supper by spilling it all in the sink, but then I noticed something. The letters that I normally turned into words like "ass" and "knob" had arranged themselves into complete sentences. And if I squinted, the little bits of corn kinda looked like W symbols.
Totally freaked out, I wrote it all down .....
Marshalling Cry :1mana::symw::symw: Sorcery Creatures you control get +1/+1 and gain vigilance until end of turn. Cycling: Flashback: :3mana::symw: Common
Freaky huh?
Even scarier is that my substitute dinner (Alphabits cereal, also over the sink) slipped out of my hands too! But the cereal letters didn't fall into an arrangement of a cool Future Sight card. All I saw spelled out was "anus", which made me giggle. The scary part is that when the cereal splashed into the sink, it swirled around the remnants of my soup (what can I say, I live like a dirtbag) and the soup did rearrange itself into what looks like it could be another card. Let me know what you think:
Lost Auramancers :2mana::symw::symw: Creature - Human Wizard Vanishing 3 When Lost Auramancers is put into a graveyard from play, if it had no time counters on it, you may search your library for an enchantment card and put it into play. If you do, shuffle your library. 3/3 Uncommon
Of course now I'm 0 for 2 on meals today and all I have to show for it are two cards that probably aren't even real. I mean, who believes what soup has to say, am I right? I'm really hungry, though. Please send me food. Or just comment on these possible cards if you'd rather just be selfish.
And Marshalling Cry is wonderful. Card quality turn two, pump turn three, and if yes to either pump turn four. Turn six it's a cantrip. Turn seven it's +2/+2. Vigilance is nice too. A very nice limited card.
And of course, X's can look like +'s, misshapen B's can look like 3's, I's can look like /'s, and those little off bits can make punctuation happen better grammar Nazi's, so this is believable.
I don't have much to say on these cards that hasn't been said already. But with all the solid enchantments in this block, the cheese stands alone, I can totally see this guy finding a nice home.
I love the theme of cycling/flashback so much. The card gives white weenie some much needed card filtering without loosing virtual card advantage.
Cycling and Flashback........ not bad. It's ability is kinda inferior though, for a sorcery...... granted, it gives vigilance (which, indeed, works only on your turn anyway), but 3 mana global +1/+1 still loses to 2 mana +4/+4 global booster, IMO...
The Auramancer is blah.... it takes too much effort to use it, except using Vesuvan Shapeshifter to guarantee the creature having no time counter. Plus, 3/3 for 4 with vanishing 3 is so bloody weak..... But perhaps it could see a bit of use....

Just think what patterns those little bits of corn might be arranged in TOMORROW night, eh? Better check your toilet bowl before you flush!
And that wouldn't even be the strangest place we've been finding FS cards lately ......
If I crap out another card, I'll be sure to let you guys know.
I personally like the Cry, at least in Limited situations, pretty much for the reasons Pharmalade stated. It's very, very flexible, even if it doesn't look like it does a lot on its own. And it allows you to swing without leaving you open to an opposing counterattack. Solid little common. Not world-shattering, but solid.
The Auramancers may simply be a crappy Rector, but it's also uncommon, which is really nice to see. Especially when said uncommon can fetch some really awesome enchantments. I think it'd be awesome to see a strange Neo-Rector deck, though I doubt it'll happen outside casual.
You'd need some way to get out of cards AND perms. Greater Gargadon helps with the later, but the former? Add Ignorant Bliss? A 4 card combo...
I can't believe they balanced Rector. Although by wording it's worse since one of the things that made Rector good was the ability to act as Moat (attack? What if he blocks and gets a silver bullet?) and they couldn't remove him or they might as well commit suicide. Now you have to play it and wait 3 turns... and yep, can't attack or block with it because then you get nada!

Nah, just run cheap spells and discard outlets. I'm looking at you, Lightning Axe and Simian Spirit Guide and who knows maybe even Fury of the Horde. Getting cards out of your hand shouldn't be a problem, and it'll be easy to have less than ten permanents to sack to Gargadon, and Fury Charm and/or Timecrafting make it easy to get the counters off the Auramancers. Easy Peasy, this deck is making itself.

Now that I've had time to "digest" *ahem*, the new rector, it seems very promising for strengthing the fruity pebbles standard deck. We already have the new wish and the creature tutor cards for Wild Cantor, now we finally have a moderate way to get the enchantment into play. It's not super fast, but it is a step in the right dirrection.
But just imagine! If you actually had eaten the vegetable soup and the cereal, what secrets they might have shown you 12 hours later floating in the Throne of Bone!...
Wow. If you had luck like that all the time with meals, we would probably know more than wizards themselves until you starve to death or try to eat something which has nothing to do with letters, like toast. Oh and orange mage, that is just revolting. I ROTFLOLed that you thought of doing that. Do you know what crap can be hiding in your sink?
I think it is rather funny that they fixed an urza block card to make it good. That should never happen. I won't try to get that auramage, but it looks useful in limited.

With all, put the same thing except with / in front of what type of tags they are (like [/card]) to close them.

In terms of power level, I would say Lost Auramancers lies halfway between Academy Rector and Auratouched Mage. It's probably too delayed to have much effect on tournaments by itself, and I think there are better things to do with Vesuvan Shapeshifter than to try to copy this card.

- Chuck Norris counted to infinity twice—because he was trying to count how much damage Jon Finkel deals in an average game.
- Jon Finkel believes in maintaining a healthy, balanced diet. He gets all his fiber from eating Magic cards for breakfast, and all his protein from eating Magic players for lunch.
Marshalling Cry- a decent trick for a limited deck but even then its not high pick and would only see inclusion if you couldn't find a playable creature or removal spell.
Lost Auramancers- its the fixed Academy Rectors, and its going to be very good.
The other guy is a "fixed" academy rector which will get burned, attacked into, or just killed long before it runs out of time counters even if it did search an enchant its not like we have people running around with yawgmoth's bargain in their decks

If these are real, the common will be junk and the auramancer is a slightly wonky Academy Rector...

Okay, onto the cards. The Auramancer will probably go directly into MWC so I can go get Faith's Fetters and COP or Ivory Mask. The other one is limited fodder and sorta situational. There are quite a few limited-playable hasty dudes in this set so it's not a total loss.

Heh, I like how the Cry is like a "Make Your Own Cantrip But In Reverse Order". Clever, and better. The Auramancers love a good breaking, but I'm pretty sure it's there to make Johnnies look for a combo with that dead-instant-enchanting Aura.

Lost Auramancers + Vesuvan Morph tricks + Obliterate effects - Cards in hand = Search your library for Barren Glory and win the game.
Also, it gets Debtors' Knell, Dovescape and other awesomeness.
