So, that's a third 7/7 sliver for WUBRG. One would think such creatures to be unbelievable rare. Oh, well, maybe I'm just so fed up with slivers that sarcasm got the better of me.

I would love to start the FS spoiler thread soon, but not just yet.
i may be reading this wrong
to me this says there is a cycle of single mana creature that will be printed. not reprints, and by quasi-iconic? does this mean chars we have seen in the back ground, or as timeshifed like the what ifs in PC?
i think i am misunderstanding something here (not that i wouldn't be beyond thrilled to have my pretty little pup back)

I'm reading it as a cycle of spellshapers that put out quasi-iconic one mana creatures for each color. So possibly, a white creature with "W, T, discard a card: Put a 2/1 white Cat creature token into play."
Jey! Jhoira gets a card! (and maybe an MTGO avatar? :))
I hope she isn't a tinker spellshaper, we already have Arcum Dagsson from Coldsnap, who is meddling with that design space (he's a bit more restrictive for what to sac and search, but still).
Although I'm not sure what I would like her to be. Well, I hope she's RU at least, since that's how I always saw her (although more U then R).
"Sliver Legion" is an awesome name. Very appropriate for the whole 'many=one' thing of the hive-gestalt consciousness. "Our name is Legion, and we are many."

Of course, I DON'T SERIOUSLY THINK it'll be Disciple of the Vault either. Wizards just has far too many bad memories from the bannings they had to do, though there'll will be a lot fewer artifacts for the Disciple to eat in the current Standard environment.

White has to be Mother of Runes - I love that card. It's very iconic, and hasn't been paid homage to in the block so far.
Does anyone else also find Sliver Legion kind of...well...wtf?
1) That has to be the most gratuitous ability ever. (for slivers)
2) That has to be the most UTTERLY unnecessary ability ever. (for slivers)
3) That has to be the most uninspired/predictable ability ever. (for slivers)
Of course, it'll be hugely popular. If I ever see it hit the table across from me, I will likely scoop then and there, out of spite. Gah! I would never do something like that with Sliver Queen...that card is just cool...but I would with this one. It just didn't need to be made. Period.
I even run a 5-color sliver deck, a fairly good one at that, and I will probably not put this in there, becuase it will take up slots that are currently occupied by creatures that make playing the deck interesting and quirky...and oh yeah...fun.
Oh well, I guess there's only so many appropriate gamebreaking abilities you can give a WUBRG 7/7 Legendary tribal card. This would certainly qualify.
... I can't wait until we get to see the timeshifted cards from this set. I don't care about the Magi, nor the storyline. It's really about the timeshiftyness for me.

Most "blue"/"red" personality can be explained into the "opposite" color pretty easily sorta like black and white personalities - I've read her approach and intent as blue, even if she does seem a bit brash and impulsive at times.
Remember there were times when Urza was "acting red" but he most certainly was blue most of the time. And his card reflected it. He even had some RED cards most definitely named after him while printing him as blue in the same set.
I'd compare her personality quite a bit to Urza's frankly.

Keep in mind that while Blind Seer is urza in disguise, he is not actually urza. WOTC has said on several occasions that Urza is a U/R legend (that is, if they were to print him in his planeswalkery goodness, or ever a pre- version, a la jeska/karn/mishra/etc).

As much as I'm against the OTT view that this card is going to solo tournaments, cure cancer and make Susan Boyle attractive I'm not really a fan of the opposing camp who think it slaughters puppies and sired Justin Bieber.
I don't see it posted here, but what is the chance that the Magi cycle and the creature spellshapers are one in the same? I mean, what better way to do a creature magus cycle instead of an enchantment cycle, unless it is confirmed that it is an enchanment cycle?
OK I have 2 apologies first incase someone already talked about this and second for possibly seeming ignorant and possibly for ranting but, why did they have to remake slivers. My sides are split; my story, flavour loving side thinks its really awsome and bravo for thinking about it. But my player sliver hating with all my guts side is screaming WHY!!! LORD!! WHY!!!. and then they make this a Coat of arms sliver I think this will be really overpowered and evreyone will probably start by pointing out that no deck is unbeatable but come on i think they've really over done slivers. thoughts anyone???

they actually have some promo-type cards, where it is name art work and no text box, but they are creatures, so I am assuming either they will stay just normal cannon fodder, or possibly evolve in a future set. but the textless cards are in future sight, just not in abundance
I'd have to think white would be Savannah Lions.
Why would blue be Manta Riders when it could easily be Flying Men? If we're discarding cards to get a 1/1, mise at least have flying all the time. Stone-Throwing Devils is pretty much the go-to black one-drop, though it doesn't fit very well now. Carnophage is reasonable, just a little rough on the life totals to keep breeding those.
Red would probably be hasty, as in Raging Goblin, or conceivably Jackal Pup. Spark Elemental would maybe actually be good.
Green would most likely be mana producing, either Llanowar Elves or Birds of Paradise, but i could see fat with a drawback like Rogue Elephant.
Anyway, none of the above options seem particularly nuts; barring haste on the tokens you're looking at getting to attack on turn three at the earliest, assuming you can get the shaper out on turn one and activate it turn two. Is using a one-drop a turn later than usual, at a cost of one extra card, worth the ability to continue making one drops every turn? Hardly seems so. Now, if these spellshapers were combined with some sort of Lord effect or had powerful sacrifice abilities for the tokens, then maybe we could talk. It's certainly possible that they could be something drastically different from what we're imagining. As a final note, the red and black spellshapers might be reasonable to work with madness.
i think the creature shapers are going to be creatures that have an ability similar to
tap: put a 1/1 green llanowar elf token into play with "T: add one G to your manna pool".

It's hard to tell what Seds meant to say (his way of typing takes an interpreter to translate, sometimes) so the arguments about this information might be premature. Maybe he can put this into English for us. It seems most people are reading this as "a cycle of spellshapers with abilities that cost one mana to make a creature token that looks like a one mana iconic creature from that colour". But unless he meant something he didn't say, that doesn't seem to be it. If that's what it's supposed to mean, why does it start off with "creatures that cost one mana"? Ugh.
As for the 8 or 9 complaints that "Sliver Legion makes absolutely zero sense!" If you check an English dictionary, you'll find the "legion" means "multitude". In other words, more than just a few of something. So a legion of slivers is an army of them. It makes sense for all the slivers combined to cost mana of each colour, because slivers come from all five colours. The ability makes sense too, as a multitude of creatures would get stronger the more that joined, and would strengthen those alongside it as well. In short, the sliver legion is all the slivers together in one place. Legendary fits.
no to mention non-legendary would make it down right broken. The doublestriking sliver is a pain enough, we dont need them getting pumped more that +1/+1 for each liver in play. Fury sliver is already 3/3 so it swings for 6, other then the legion you need just one other sliver to make it swing for 10. not to mention the legion is a 7/7 that would make it swing for 20!
more than one legion is to powerful!

I'm predicting
White: 2/1 white Cat token
Blue: 1/1 blue Human token with Flying
Black: 1/1 black Devil token with First Strike
Red: 1/1 red Goblin token with Haste
Green: 1/1 green Elf token with "T: add G to your mana pool."
Whatever tokens they produce, they're gonna have to be simple in order for all the rules text to fit on there. And I'm figuring, the less wordy, the better.
Asking out a girl is like trying to cast a first turn Necropotence. Sometimes the other player will have the Force of Will to say no. You shouldn't let that stop you from trying it.
