Yeah thats pretty good but basically he has kill me written all over him lol. If a control deck plans to only use him as an early drop at all they better be ready to seriously commit to protecting him. Not to mention that means your not running blues favorite buddies most likely white or black.
Please realize this card has nearly NO use in a pure mono-green deck so don't act like it sucks because of it.
So sad that it had to cost double green...if it had cost 1G, it would be much more viable, IMO.
By viable do you mean Broken? I'm glad they put him in the color where he will be hardest to use. Do you skip a first turn drop in Green in hopes of activating him? Do you go second and skip a first turn drop? What happens when you empty your hand and then draw into him? What happens when black makes you discard? What happens when blue makes you discard.
He'll sell for a decent price though.

When I was young, the smallest trick of light,
Could catch my eye,
Then life was new and every new day,
I thought that I could fly.
I believed in what I hoped for,
And I hoped for things unseen,
I had wings and dreams could soar,
I just don't feel like flying anymore.
I knew that they were going to come up with a Magus of the Library... except this should be in blue. Green isn't exactly a color that has its hand stocked full of cards, so this is usually not that good, unless it's teamed up with another card advantage-rich color (and even then it's got a double green casting cost). Now the only one that's a mystery in the Magus cycle is the white one, although "tabernacle" comes up with one hit on the Orb of Insight, so that should be it.
The problem with the card is green (by itself) rarely - if ever - has seven cards in hand. :symu::symg: should still like this thing tho - even if it does have :symg::symg: as its mana cost.
I'll leave my other comment from the article in spec...
Looks cool and could possibly find some use in a U/G or even a B/G control deck. A U/G deck that controls the board with bounce and counters and then drops a SSS for the win, or some B/G dredge that fills its hand then uses the library draw to dredge or something.
Not so great on the current meta. Too much removal running rampant. We should wait until Rav rotates and maybe if we see less removal this guy can be ok...just ok.

- Lack of common sense is like the common flu.
An interesting card to say the least green rarely if ever gets any card drawing so this is definitley a plus however a green aggro deck wont have 7 cards in its hand very often
Aggro?
Green won't be aggro. Green will be mono-control. MGC, the new green standard.
I can see it now; elves that will draw cards, and merfolk that will do mana acceleration.

Scroll of Origins can be used in green. Then again, so can Jayemdae tome.
On the other hand, green is the 3rd most plentiful card-draw of any color. Remember that it once had the Ophidian ability.
The art is amasing but the card is actually very reasonable. It's not overpowered or underpowered but some where in the middle. I'm sure it won't be making any ground breaking surges but I'm sure it will appear every now and then in decks.
Wow. While obviously not an agro drop. Magus has a hidious amount of potential in UG/X control thanks to Voidslime and other UG goodies. This might not see play in standard, but it sure as hell will show face in extended and legacy. I'm simply amazed that there are two Magi that draw card in the same set... Planar Chaos is the first spike friendly middle expansion since torment. And the best since Urza's Legacy...
Why would blue, of all colors, need to splash into green for card draw?
DUDE!!! That is awesome!!!!! I want one!! This card will be worth a lot, I can already tell. Seriously, library on a creature, that's just carazey!! This set is turning out to be might powerful.
Scroll of Origins goes for 50 cents to one dollar. I guess this card may stabilize at $2.00 at most.
Cool effect, and clever color placement, but Wizards is going to have to work hard to make pure card drawing seem flavorful to me.
That said, this is a very clever card, and one begging for abuse. While I doubt it will be a format-breaker, it seems like a (at least) interesting rare, and certainly the most exciting Wizards has let out so far, short of Damnation.

Yeah, Yodafan's pretty much a EDH pro.

Wow. Green definitely didn't get the short end of the magus cycle this time. That guy is solid.
Saying he doesn't fit in green aggro is missing the point. I'm sure there will be some deck that can use him well. For example, with Life From the Loam, bouncelands, and Fathom Seer can get extra cards into your hand. Also, Aaron said green would get more draw in PC. Plus he taps for mana!
Oh, and his synergy with Scryb Ranger is pretty amazing. Bounce a land to get seven cards and untap him. In response, draw a card. Then replay your land and tap him to draw another card.
Better than the previous magus, but still limited due to the fact that it is either a card worse than squire at some times, or it has a target the size of red square on his head. If their are any good untapping tricks to come this could make the cut.
Library is good because of the no mana cost, tap for mana, AND draw. This card: not so good. 1/1 creatures aren't exactly the most reliable cards, especially in green. I don't really see a point in running this in...well, anything.
Library was good because its a land. This is a retarded LLanowar Elves that might net you a card once or twice. For this Magus to be anywhere near usefull you'd have to build a deck around him, and he's not worth it.
Nice art and flavor though

Don't mind my posts, they are probably just a product of gang violence
despite all the issues people have already brought up (fragile, double green cost, hard to keep 7 cards in green) I'm looking forward to running this in my red/green mid-game deck. Scrying Sheets and Life from the Loam should let me hit 7 cards reasonably often and well.

I was expecting this. Not the GG cost, that's perfect. It makes you commit fairly heavily to green, but not really a problem in this environment of more colour fixing than you can poke a stick at.
As for having a target mark on his head, of course he does. Then again, so does Dark Confidant, and you don't see him not being played because of it. Very similar cards actually, but for very different decks.

Than and then are very different words.
"I'm going to have more than Natalie Portman" is quite different from "I'm going to have more, then Natalie Portman".

This is not a snow creature.
I agree. Of the 1 magus cards previewed, this is the best... and the worst...
Scroll of Origins goes for 50 cents to one dollar. I guess this card may stabilize at $2.00 at most.
Comparing this to Scroll of Origins is like comparing the Onslaught fetch lands to the Mirage fetch lands. There's no comparison whatsoever. The 2 mana on Scroll makes a HUGE difference, because it means you basically can't draw, then play stuff. Seriously, why anyone would make this comparison is beyond me, it makes no sense whatsoever.
And to people who are in the "Green never has 7 cards in their hand" camp, that makes no sense either. Obviously if you play this card you adapt, because the ability to draw two cards per turn is worth playing more card advantage things like Ohran Viper. You can still play a land or two spells every turn with this guy. He's similar to Dark Confidant, in my opinion. Your deck has to be somewhat based around him, but if it is the card is pure gold and will almost never let you down.
This card is extremely good, and will be a big time factor in just about any green deck. It also has obvious synergy with Scryb Ranger.
that makes any discard really good againced that card. With Blue AND black with instant speed 1 mana cost discard, it more or less "counters" the ability (doesnt it?)

"The only reason God doesn't erase you from the face of the earth is because you amuse him somehow"
I would be shocked if I saw it used... ever. It's obviously nothing like aggro, and I can't think of any control deck that can produce GG anytime early on. Even if one does crop up, it'll be hard to get back up to 7 cards... and if you've got 7 cards in your hand and can keep a 1/1 on the field when playing control, guess what, you don't need it.

And that Magus is awesome. Just, as everyone else is saying, not so much in green.
Tapping for 1 ability is great because it exactly duplicate Library of Alexandria function (though Magus can't tap the turn you play).
Although he's more fragile than Scroll of Origins, he doesn't need 2 to activate his drawing ability.
