I think that that undefined would be the perfect power for the flying spaghetti monster.
Player A: "I hit you for an undefined amount of damage."
Player B: "I shock FSM."
Player A: "Does it do undefined damage?"
Player B: "No."
Player A: "Then it doesn't die. Take your damage *****!"
Player B: "How?"
I appoligise if this is known informtion, but i noticed in the primer it said
"The Planar Chaos set contains 165 cards (60 common, 55 uncommon, 50 rare)."
I assumed that the set would have a breakdown of 55/55/55 like previous sets, seems there are less rares in this set though.
Means less rares and therefore better chance of oppening a plane/timeshifted cards(or whatever they're being called)
Please feel free to delete if this is known.
I don't think this is known, and this is certainly food for thought.
I guess that means there are...
10 multicolor/land/artifact? rares
8 rares per color? (2 being timeshifted, for a total of 10 timeshifted rares?)
Using white as a guide, it seems like this is the case. (Missing two normal white rares being the rare 'rescue' creature and the Magus)
That leaves 35 timeshifts...
Likely 3 uncommon 'shifts per color, which makes 15
leaving 20 common 'shifts.
(10/15/20)
So that leaves 40 commons and 40 uncommons that are not 'shifted?
Which evens out to 8 commons per color, which is really 7 commons per color plus a split card per color.
Whitemane Lion {1}{W}
Creature -- Cat
2/2
Flash (You may play this spell any time you could play an instant.)
When Whitemane Lion comes into play, return a creature you control to its owner's hand.
Is this common? Fleetfoot Panther minus G is awesome and very playable. And it can bounce any color, not just green/white. I'd definately splash white for this.
Funny combo for limited: Whitemane Lion + Pandemonium: At end of opponent's turn, you spend your remaining mana by repeatedly playing the Lion and bouncing it back
Well, just another situation where White is proved God's favorite... if this is common, I might wretch. It's SO GOOD for combat and citp abilities... I'll be picking these guys up late in draft, for atleast the first 2 weeks.

I dont think you can HAVE an limited combo (before a draft that is) without it being common-common (Like Freed from the Real + Frostwielder from kami block) or common-uncommon (whitemane lion + calicerm might be a limitet combo) or MAYBE uncommon-uncommon if the cards in the combo are below avarage alone.
The rest isnt really limitet combo since you will need to be very lucky to get them and cant plan on going for stuff like that (eg. at the pre-release you can try to go after a calicerm + whitemane lion limitet deck (if you can get 2 calicerm + loins and/or other rescure cards its sounds fine...) but you need to get "lucky" to get pandemonium and still it wont be anything that look stable (you wont get more then 1 under normal circumstances)...)
This is naturally only my pow and you are free to disagree...

^ I agree to an extent, but I've seen Pandemoniums table many times. It wouldn't be far unlikely. If the card was in your card pool, for you to be able to pick up a Pandemonium.
This creature is seriously ridiculous, the more I think about it. It's going to make me sad everytime I play a peice of removal... worse than with Momentary Blink, I think.
Purely situational, but possibly devastating, unless you're playing a boat of CIPCreatues.
IE it's a good sideboard card.
MD this against combo and you're dead, unless you plan on playing 536309 Hierarchs, and then still they beat you to death with dragons unless you can resolve a Wrath.
I suppose with Rebuff the Wicked you could build a Pandemonium deck around it.
Two of these will help keeps Nodes of Porphyr around if your opponent lacks creatures. This could be a fun inclusion in Blink decks, as a secondary way to blink some creatures, though you have to pay to play them again, at least you can save some from removal, and you always want to be able to replay your Voidstone Gargoyle when needed.
Also, there's plenty of creature cards from PC that will benefit from this card - Uktabi Drake, Groundbreaker, Timbermare, Goblin o' War, Keldon Marauders, Body Double, Calciderm.
It'd be a strange interaction, but if you pull back your Benalish Commander to protect from removal, or in case all your other soldiers are dying, you can start pumping out even more soldiers. It's a thought.
In short, Limited and Constructed will find plenty of uses for Go Go Rescue Lion.
It's amazing how much better flash makes this compared to Dream Stalker. Dream Stalker has the same cmc and is much better at blocking, yet has been tossed aside as jank.
also, you're looking at this from your side, you can also use it as defensive to any combat tricks you're opponents pulls out.

...Premature Burial and Cradle to the Grave are a black minicycle of removal cards that have to do with the 'time' aspect. (Past, Present, Future)
Dreamstalker is just a janky blue card, nothing more.
Turns out I misread Cradle to the Grave. Premature Burial is slightly better, having a later window(out of necessity, since it's a sorcery). Still, having two cards that effectively do the exact thing for the same cost is boring(from a game-play perspective), even if the flavor is appropriate.
Dream Stalker at least has merit to being used over Whitemane, since it has a much higher toughness and sends a permanent instead of being restricted to creatures.
Yeah, Dream Stalker is actually quite a good and versatile card. But I think that the Lion also has uses, and will get fooled around with when people are making decks.
U/W/G aggro? this, remand, stonewood invocation and plaxmanta make critters unkillable. Not to mention this guy bounces plaxmanta. He also works great with vanishing! Way to go WotC, seemingly an [fl]ashcoat bear with a drawback it is much more complex and still not broken. My fav common of the set so far!
This also seems cool with Keldon Brigands. They come into play, shoot them in the face, swing the next turn, then are returned for the surprise lions (making for another hit in the face). Brigands come down again next turn and the cycle begins again. Especially if there are multiple red and white creatures with good comes into and leaves play abilities, and several of these rescue cards.

This could be a nice addition for blink decks, being blinks 9-12. that deck has gained the most from PC so far(Akroma morph(or Akromorph, if you prefer)). It is not like it is the EXACT same as blink though, first of all it is a creature, and it actually will save something from mass removal, blink won't.

This, when combined with Calciderm is mad.
Say hello split second removal. About time that was used in t2.

DUH! Sorry... misread the card... usually, bouncing effects targets something.

Wizard had said this earier that they wanted the rares easier to collect (so less rares) and to improve variation in limited (more commons).
but not usually effects like those on Dream Stalker, or on Fleetfoot Panther, Shivan Wurm, Cavern Harpy, and the other gating creatures from Planeshift.

Yep, they seem to be correcting cards from the last set. Dream Stalker turns into Whitemane Lion, and Premature Burial turns into Cradle to the Grave.
They make these sets months in advance, can't they just take out the repeat cards and put in a few commons that aren't worse versions of them?

I used to have an excellent standard deck with fleetfoot panther, kavu titan, armageddeon, and blastoderm....so i'm definatly looking forward to using whitemane lion with calicderm
