Hmmm, with lotus and this, Im starting to belive again that a competitive Warp World deck is viable. Do not laugh, Im the guy who believed Snakes would be competitive some day, ever since Betrayers of Kamigawa.
I'm calling it right now- worst rare in the set. Even good limited players will find better bombs at common and uncommon no sweat. Worst. Episode. Ever.
I really do predict this to be our worst rare in set award winner. I'd be happier opening a jar of eyeballs, so I think anything worse is highly unlikely. This card wont just have zero constructed potential, but not be significantly better than a mass of ghouls in a draft.
So, it's Mirari's Wake, with a slightly weaker effect, but easier to cast. Decent enough. The format looks like it'll be too fast for this to be useful, however. Also, since the Gauntlet only affects one chose colour, it's too narrow to accurately replace Heartbeat of Spring.
QFT in every point. Also, as far as Wake is being mentioned, there is no Decree of Justice, which was as dominant as any card in its hey day.

I am right with you there man. One of my first decks was a snake deck when the Kamigawa set was coming out, I got my hands on 4 of each of the Legendary snakes and the Summons. And I actually came in 4th at a recent tournament before the u/g snakes came into the scene. Of course mine was mono green all snake agro (This was before Ravnica had come out though). But it did well. I was happy to see snakes came back, but now I am sad to see them go. I hope there are some good snakes coming back in 10th, seeing as there is only one snake that showed up in the orb of TS.
As many have aforesaid, this card not only resembles the Gauntlet of Might card, but Wake. Awesome.
This is probably going to have little impact in casual games, well...actually, who is to say? Tourney-play? Probably...if the environs were back in Odyssey-block.
Well, it's such a pity that this card is balanced, with regards to the benefits...
When compared to Wake, I'm guessing Wake is better, because it is one-sided, but this card is significantly acquiescent, as it can be played in any coloured deck. Unfortunately, several decks nowaday are two or more colours, and so when choosing the colour, you gotta be pretty careful.
Well, thanks for the brilliant find Hydrokinesis.
Alrite Time Spiral...just give me ONE cheap mass removal black spell now, and we can have an MBC build. That's all I really ask for, a Hideous Laughter variant, or perhaps Mutilate; is that asking for too much (probably)?
Cool! This gives me a good idea for a deck title: Real Ultimate Power. Hmmm...maybe I'll put it in that Elf deck I'm building. More mana in an elf deck isn't a bad thing.
White weenie and other mono-white decks might find use with this card. I would only consider it to be used in mono-color theme decks. Using it in multi-colored decks seems a bit pretentious considering the affor mentioned current T2 decks use 2-3 colors. T2 Goblins might actually occur if not the already obvious RDW ressurection that has appeared.
[card=Dismal Failure]"Two magi could trade spells all day and never crown a victor.
The real battle is not one of power but of will.

I can see this being awesome with T2 Elves. They can reach 5 mana by turn 2, my friends do it all the time. And once you get that psychotic mana production going, what's left to play but Allosaurus Rider? As an added bonus, your Elves all still tap for 1, protecting you from mana burn. And you only need one Stomping Ground, to have the biggest Demonfire ever seen.

When I was young, the smallest trick of light,
Could catch my eye,
Then life was new and every new day,
I thought that I could fly.
I believed in what I hoped for,
And I hoped for things unseen,
I had wings and dreams could soar,
I just don't feel like flying anymore.
hhm. It's basically crusade+heartbeat for a color of your choice, then. Might be a tad too good, but then again, its a 5cc artifact...Legendary?
Nah no need to be legendary. The old Gauntlet of might wasn't Legendary, so this one would be neither.

Do you understand what you're saying? You can tap three lands after the first is played to play another one. Then two.
Of this isn't, it's an auto-4-of in every agro deck. Oh and those will start rinning 4xdemonfire.
Powerful card. It compares favorably to most cards previous too it in one form or another (more versatile than Gauntlet of Might or Vernal Bloom, easier to cast than Mirari's Wake, harder to kill than Rofellos). It affects the table immediately with the +1/+1 effect. You'll probably have 10 mana when you untap with this. There's a whole slew of cards players don't consider for decks that a Gauntlet deck could play. I could easily see it played in monored and make good use of Rakdos Guildmage and Demonfire. It wouldn't be crazy to play something like Fury of the Horde or some monstrous manasink, either.
It's semi-symmetrical, but you can't have everything. Seems like a casual powerhouse card easily on the level of Coat of Arms. The biggest thing holding Gauntlet of Power back are the huge amount of colors in Standard.
By the way, the best complement to Mirari's Wake is Moment's Peace. Sure, Decree of Justice is amazing, but you can do basically anything with double mana, including Crush of Wurms (in block) or Time Stretch (my own preference). It's not the huge spell that needs to be abrudly powerful, it's the manabase to get there (aka Urzatron is inherently more powerful than Tooth and Nail).
Us heartbeat players will try to abuse this in one way or another, I dont belive the "only one color" pump is that big a deal since the deck must be tweaked either way more of a controlish element must be put into the mixture.
Ha! **** Gauntlet of Might! It's now irrelevant. This might not make the cut in fast aggro decks, but it just might be a winner in combo decks like Heartbeat, which now seems like a viable option after all. I'm glad that they not only remade a card that's inspired by the reserved list, but outshines it as well (kind of like Helldozer and Demonic Hordes).
I was going to say this could herald a mighty MBC deck, but Tyler beat me to it, so I will just extrapoliate.
What does MBC /need/?
Mana. Lots and lots of mana. Snow-covered swamps, Scrying Cheats and a artifact to plop down and nearly double your production? Check.
Discard. Good discard. Ravenous rats is pretty good, chump blocks. Skeins is really good, but hits you too. Distress goes away with Kamigawa and doesn't seem to have a replacement yet. Not quite check yet.
Removal. Cheap targeted and effective mass. How does a turn 3-4 play of nuking a non-black creature and making your opponent discard his hand for the cost of 3 cards? Sounds kind of sketchy really, but Skeins into the Madness black kill might not be bad. If it is bad, last gasp and/or sudden death is still good for targeted removal, just need the mass effect. So not quite check yet, but hopefully.
Card Drawing. Etchings, Arena, take your pick and stick to it; they play differently, but both are very powerful. Check.
X-spells. Unless 10th doesn't have Consume Spirit for some reason, this should be fine. If it doesn't... well yeah, MBC probably wont show up for awhile. Most likely check.
Non-X Win conditions: Overseers, vampires and jump-knights, oh my! Yeah, this is covered.
So there IS A use for Magus of the Candelabra!!! I can't wait to make a silly deck with this and some Panglacial Wurm action! Too bad Sakura-Tribe Elder is rotating out :(. Maybe they'll reprint Wayfarer's Bauble???
Not bad, best for mono color, which there isn't too much of in the format right now. plus 5 is a little steep, but if you need to get that storm herd off in a hurry

Gauntlet of Power + Guildmages is like Chocolate + Peanut Butter.
A green deck with Selesnya GM can generate saprolings at an insane rate, and they'll all come out at 2/2 or better (depending on the number of gauntlets you have).
