alright gang! here is the wording on the land pics. turns out i had missed a couple, there is one for each land type...
ISLAND:Yawning Volcanic Slag
- Black "Tunnel in tunnel" igeneous forms
- very shallow and pooled water
- a lot of weather phenom... rain, mist, heat lightning
ISLAND: Volcanic Slag
- tunnel-in-tunnel
- Shallow water abound with carcasses
- people snipe the birds that eat the remains
SALT PLAINS
-at least 2 tiers, both flat and cracked
- watermark of cracked salt around all wreckage
SALT PLAINS: Blanish Ruins
- Architecture strips to reveal skeletal lattice work
- Salt created "watermark" on everything
- people live on the lunar/linear types of plains
MOUNTAINS: In crater Dwellings
- distorted old architechture
- People have carved dwellings inside the shelter of the volcanically or magically blasted craters
- overlooking the monolith fields
- monoliths are always shown higher
SWAMP: fresh phrex carcases
-these are junkyards of the phyrex wreckage and dead
- the organic parts of the phyrex rot, slews and weep constantly pooling into "swamps"
- high verticle here... the crashed ships... the reach and disappear into the straited alien cloudcover
- only swamps have organic remains from phyrex
Edit: I like the guy who said the 110 cards thingy could be reprinted, but WIZARDS HAS SAID IT IS 301!
Wizard's has said TS is 301, that does not rule out other options.
Notice, several of the artworks on this thread could be new artwork for old cards. With Mindstab Thrull and Candelbra being the most obvious, and a case could be made for the skeleton guys representing Time Walk. The demon is also reminiscent of Grinning Demon(With wings) and Lord of the Pit. Another is a pretty blatant counterspell.
One of the statues is Prodigal Sorcerer, a card with an ability no longer used in Blue, another is a legend who's only been in Legends and Chronicles, and is fairly unknown to more than a few Players today. Odd choices of characters to commision statues to be displayed at Gencon, something "Out of flavor" and something very old.
Case could be made that this artwork here supports reprints. Case could also be made that this supports the idea that TS may feature "Throwbacks" to the old cards instead of outright reprints, so the jury is still out.
But nowhere have they said that TS would not have 121 extra reprints, in fact they've never denied the 121, or offered an explanation of why the number 422 still floats out there.
just a thought on the whole pendulum thing: While looking at the two pictures that R_E posted, you can definately notice that in Time Walk the skeletons are walking Forward, in the new pic there is ( to me anyway ), a definate feeling of Backwards, especially when looking at them together like that.
The dilemma of the neo time walk's art is kinda silly but i'll try to contribute.
The position of the skeleton in the back is clearly the one of a person pushing and not stopping. The one than seems misleading is the one in the right, but by looking at the one on the middle front you can see that it's clearly trying to move it and not stopping it.

@pandafarmer: Are there any pictures of the lands? They sound like there could be some awesome artworks, especially if they're anything like the other pieces. Thank you muchly for all the effort you're going to for everyone else, and on behalf of everyone who hasn't thanked you yet.
@zigmat: I agree in the skeleton on the left being pushed back by the weight of the pendulum, so perhaps it's start the turn again? The only problem is cards like Mishra's Bauble (I know what's coming... for free!), and the reminder text being horrendous to write so that it fits. The only real use a card like that would have is if combat went horribly wrong (what, you had THAT in hand?!)
This being the first year that I've been around for this, do many of these pieces get used as art on the cards?
Elspeth "we must fight to protect order and justice!"
Tezzeret "No! he will break all my artifacts and stomp my head!"
Vol "powerful dragon must be brought to heel!"
Ajani "**** this Im outta *planeswalks to lorwyn* wow what hell is this place?"
Little lorwyn goblin "this be the place of bad art and Tribes!!!"
All other Alara planeswalkers "hey where did ajani go???"

I think that WoTC felt that a lot of the players thought Standard was becoming mundane and a joke from all the nuked cards floating around. R&D took a vacation, and MaRo just started reprinting things.
TS is looking good artwise, but the cards could be overcosted vanillas for all we know so I'm unsure about that side of things so far.

Wizards has quite a few statues. When I visited their offices, I only made it into the lobby, but they had a Goblin King sitting there. Also, Mark Rosewater's picture tour showed a jester statue (from the Ice Age Jester's Cap). I'm pretty sure they didn't have to commission those particular statues for GenCon. Still, I suppose the fact that they chose to bring them at all could be basis for speculation.
Hard to figure out the exact angle? The fulcrum is a fixed point. Run a straight line back through shaft, the fulcrum will be back there some where. Regardless of how far back it is, the angle is the same. Regardless of the real length fo the pendulum, it WILL get closer (and go through) the ground since it will go to a lower potential engergy (as the pendulum is the radius and longer than any side--this is all basic geometry). We don't need the true length, we can use an effective lenght with what we can see (hell, even if you said the fulcrum was JUST outside of the picture, it will still swing lower). The lower point will be in the direction opposite to which they are applying force, it would not swing in another direction (even if it was a ball-socket, which a clock is not). Thus, we know enough about the length and we know in which direction it will fall. We know it will go through the ground.
Ah, you're right. >< Forgive me, because I was typing this at the end of an overnight shift. I meant to say 'length' when I said 'angle', but your analysis is correct, nonetheless. As I said even in my last post, it is likely that it will go through the ground. Mea culpa. Even saying that, though, I think the ground exists more as a surface fo
Now, a few other observations about the art. First, that pendulum is more of the classic 'pit and the pendulum' scythe-trap than a typical pendulum on a clock. That definitely gives ominous overtones to the entire piece. Second, a friend of mine suggested that the art may be depicting, at least in part, Armageddon Clock. That would make sense of the odd pendulum.
I'm not really expecting reprints, but throwbacks. All the "old school" art is getting me big time excited for time spiral. I think that blue energy field that a lot of cards show is just the various monsters traveling thru time, not so much gating. People from Dominaria past and future and "warping" in to Dominaria present. The one thing that just makes me wonder is... will there be a Stuffy doll in the TS fat pack?
actually the new card with skeletons is probably the new artwork for time STOP they are stopping the pendulum after all
and the statues don't realy mean anything wizard's has had those statues for years

Hmm... then thats just coincidentally ironic that they specifically had to use the Time Walk skeletons just for a Time Stop art
From the looks of the art, it might be named Rewind Time/Time Rewind or something. Maybe someone undos everything s/he did this turn(or last turn), although that sounds quite messy

Hang on, I need my gibber-to-english dictionary. Ah yes, here it is,
just a thought on the whole pendulum thing: While looking at the two pictures that R_E posted, you can definately notice that in Time Walk the skeletons are walking Forward, in the new pic there is ( to me anyway ), a definate feeling of Backwards, especially when looking at them together like that.
The art for Time Walk I feel had this sense of time standing still(as represented by the "skeleton" in the foreground), but still felt too literal, TIME, WALKING!Get it, yah.
To me these "skeletons" seemed to be sentient drones that guided people(or in Magic's case planeswalkers) during thier existence.
Although it is sad to see that the new "skeletons" have lost the clocks on thier faces(I thought that was genius!) I like the fact that they seem to be trying to slow the progression of time(represented by the swing of the pendulum) as opposed to strictly manipulating it. It gives the art a lot more depth from a flavor perspective, and really pays homage to, and improves upon the original.
The guy in the fiery picture looks like he's holding a Fork! I'm sure that it wouldn't reprinted, but maybe a variant, like twincast?
I didn't realise the end of the staff was a fork, although I doubt that there will be a variant as that's blue's thing. Probably a red card to do with damage. Maybe double the next lot of damage dealt by a source of your choice this turn? It still has the doubling effect (1 spell into 2) but is more red aligned.
Elspeth "we must fight to protect order and justice!"

True, True.
I'm just finding it interesting that what we've got from Gencon has a very distinct theme of older cards, many of which shouldn't see reprinting.
It certainly is a throwback block, and it could easily turn out to be reminiscents, but what strikes me as odd is the fact that at least 2 of the allusions are to cards that no longer fit in the current Color Wheel/Casting Cost scheme, and most of the remainder are either allusions to cards that I never thought they'd go near again. Most interestingly, one statue is of a character that hasn't been around since Legends/Chronicles and Stuffy is very reminiscent of Voodoo Doll, which hasn't been around since Legends/Chronicles as well.
Maybe I'm grasping at straws, maybe it's nothing, maybe it's just going to be cards reminiscent of these things but not these things.
But it's really one heck of a trend, and makes me wonder alot.
I'd also like to mention, there are two pieces not discussed yet, and no close ups on. In post #76, in the first shot, the top row far left and middle row far left have to pieces not yet considered.
I'm drawing a blank on them, but they seem familiar.
