first turn
Nick: I lay a swamp, tap, dark ritual...
Me: If you cast a hypnotic specter I'll punch you in the face
Nick:...ahh I take 3 points of mana burn
The reason I play black according to CrovaxtheCursed:
These are all real. (they all check out with the orb, no way can you guess legend names like that haha)
People don't pass off fake cards as magazine info anyway.
Haha..yeah...silly me.
*looks sheepish*
I wasn't intrinsically calling fake..just more so surprised at the name choice from Wizards, was all. Poor word choice, what can I say?
Haakon....I like, and is really quite amusing. Like joseyoutlaw said..it makes ashes of the fallen actually maybe useful. Once he's in the graveyard, by whateer means, he's a recurring 3/3 for 3.
Sek'Kuar. Intriguing, and has some synergy with current r/b/g cards. I simply like the fact that it can turn a STe into a 3/1 and a land. I'm also kinda surprised it doesn't have a clause for saccing the Graveborns at end of turn.
Sound The Call. More'n likely, casual card. Then again, I could be reading it's usefulness entirely wrong, and it could be nasty. At best, you'll be sitting on 4 5/5 wolves, unless your opponent makes them bigger. At worst..you'll have a 2/2, or smaller, for 3. Almost makes ya wonder if this thing would heavily benefit from some way to bring the spell back to play it repeatedly.
Haakon, Stromgald Scourge 1BB
Legendary Creature - Zombie Knight
You may play Haakon, Stromgald Scourge from your graveyard, but not from anywhere else.
As long as Haakon is in play, you may play Knight cards from your graveyard.
When Haakon is put into a graveyard from play, you lose 2 life.

Legendary Creature - Orc Shaman
Whenever another nontoken creature you control is put into a graveyard from play, put a 3/1 black and red Graveborn creature token with haste into play.

Sound the Call 2G
Sorcery
Put a 1/1 green Wolf creature token into play with "This creature gets +1/+1 for each card named Sound the Call in each graveyard".
These cards are real.
Orb of insight for the win.
The first to seem really good, this is what I wanted to see, some actual playable cards
yay knightly knightness ;; my white knight deck needs a knighthood and black one needs this guy all the more reason to get lots and lots of coldsnap not that snow coverd land wasnt enought reason anyway i think all the muti color legends in this set are gonna be 3 color like the invation dragons
The Knight card is very very cool, but IM not sure how good he is. Getting him in the Yard might be a problem in Limited..but in a constructed BW deck...this guy just might be best buddies with Delirium skeins. Discard him and 2 other knights... not bad.
The Wolf token is again cool but it is bad in sealed(maybe ok in draft) and nto likely to make an impact in Constructed.
and the orc shaman...well I dotn know what I think about him..its pretty coslt and in 3 colors.. I dont see this guy making a splash any where other than casual tables.

Well since sealed is five booster packs thant a three mana 2/2 that grows for each other copy is pretty good. It would be funny if all five pack had one.

Won't comment on Haakon; pretty much everyone else has said everything that can be said about him.
Sek'kaur is interesting... as far as having the green in his casting cost, here's my hypothesis: it's the green in his mana cost that keeps you from having to sacrifice the tokens at the end of the turn. Think about it; green is the creature color, green likes making tokens, and more than that, green likes to have tokens that don't automatically die at the end of the turn. So even though the tokens aren't green themselves, the fact that they stick around instead of dying like they normally would is a green effect. Or at least, that's my line of logic. I could be wrong.
Sound the Call... grah... curse you WotC! On the one hand, I love it because it's another Wolf for a possible theme deck... but it's not an actual creature card, so it doesn't count towards the 20 card minimum in Tribal in Magic Online. That said, I still like it and still plan on running it.
Also, one final note on Sek'kaur and Sound the Call - Doubling Season. 3/1 with haste and a land for STE is good. 2 3/1s with haste and a land for STE is better. Same thing with Sound... 1 2/2 for 3 is eh... but 2 2/2s for 3 is decent... and they keep getting bigger with each Sound you play...

"Forgive me my nonsense as I forgive the nonsense of those who think they talk sense." - Robert Frost
Yeah people talking about using dredge in limited to get him back. Coldsnap is not supposed to be sealed/drafted with Ravnica. I guess a casual tournament is the only possiblity where you can get one Rav Starter and coldsnap packs. Thats a big no-go in any real tourney like PTQ+
Hey urzassedatives, the wording the OP has is correct.
It can't be "You may only play ~ from your graveyard" because that wording doesn't explicitly say you can play him from your graveyard, just that you CAN'T play him from anywhere else. Also, since the OP says they got it from a magazine, the magazine would probably have correct wording.
Somehow I see people building black/white knight decks in the near future. Also someone else pointed this out but I thought it was a very good point. The infamous rare from Saviors of Kamigawa, One With Nothing could be a very good card in such a deck. With the ability the knight provides once in play you practically don't need your hand anymore because your graveyard will work as your hand. With One With Nothing you can dump him along with any other knights your holding and start casting them out of the graveyard.
Also such a deck would not be afraid of board clearning and graveyard reanimation effects either has such abilities will have limited or even beneficial effects to this deck. Actually I can see Haakon become the center of many decks in the not too distant future.

People are products of their own ingenuity; they are who they choose to be.
Surely it will be tested. The result - I think - will depend on the quality of the new knights in CS and TS.
We have Paladin en-vec and Leonin Skyhunter already and with a powerhouse like Haakon maybe of the less knights would be much more playable. With all of the mana fixing available in ravnica block availble I don't see how playing a black/white knight deck would be a problem. It would be a black/white weenie deck that reanimates for wave of wave of continuous assault.

Unfortunately for One with Nothing, you'll have to either:
Topdeck enough land to save yourself before you get slaughtered
Wait and only play One with nothing later, when you have enough land to Haakon into play
Get enough defensive measusres in play, then One with nothing.
The Rakdos non-creature, self-discard a small amount of cards would probably end up better than One with Nothing for this purpose.
Otherwise your other dead knights will stay dead, as the wording means that Haakon has to be in play for you to play other dead knights.
Elspeth "we must fight to protect order and justice!"
Tezzeret "No! he will break all my artifacts and stomp my head!"
Vol "powerful dragon must be brought to heel!"
Ajani "**** this Im outta *planeswalks to lorwyn* wow what hell is this place?"
Little lorwyn goblin "this be the place of bad art and Tribes!!!"
All other Alara planeswalkers "hey where did ajani go???"

When did I say One with Nothing was a first turn play? It is pretty obvious you would wait until you had three land on the field and probabally a couple of creatures. After you dump Haakon and any other knights discard effects would no longer be a hinderance to your deck. Just play One with Nothing at the end of your opponents turn after you have played your third land. On your next turn start the reanimation.

These are very good knights. But I think that three knights (these two and Håkon) would benefit from further B or W knights. An option is going three colors for U, but both Håkon, PeV and Leon requires double mana.
Delirium skeins will probably be good. hopefully some sort of turn 1 discard spell. turn 2 knight, turn three skeins, turn four hakkon... meh~! seems like its a pretty neat card creatively and might lead to some interesting deck builds

A slightly more agressive card to get the knight into the graveyard would be Avatar of Discord. Which would also allow you to add a splash of red into your BW deck to support Skynight Legionaire

there are already 9 knights in ice age block...and i am sure there will be more in coldsnap
this could be a fun casual deck
also there are 9 knights in standard...which is just as interesting
