quite a few have progressed past the 60 basic land decks though. Bouncelands are the new thing, generating more mana and returning a land to be discarded
Yeah I really dislike that. Karoos make it too easy to get to 9+ mana quickly with cards still in hand. With just basic land you have to choose between early drops and faster late drops.
Or, play green and accelerate the hell out of your deck so you can pay 11 and discard a forest every turn for a Darksteel Colossus (yes Polar Kraken costs 11 also, but no Ice Age in MTGO). I wonder... would he shuffle into your deck if he died?

Yes, Darksteel Colossus would be shuffled into your deck, but it would cease to exist, as tokens only exist as tokens in the in play zone, and no other.:)
Problem with Phyrexian Marauder is that it is put into a graveyard immediately unless its toughness is greater than 0.
There's quite a few misfires like that. I haven't compiled a full list yet, but I've messed around with the avatar quite a bit and have gotten hit with Phyrexian Marauder, Etched Oracle, Arcbound Wanderer, Broodstar, Cantivore, Mortivore, Cognivore, Lhurgoyf, Magnivore and others. Not to mention the dreaded Leveler, Sky Swallower, Eater of Days or Phage.

Wow, what a crazy avatar. You were unlucky to get those cards pop up.:( I wonder who's going to "break" it?:)
So by "random" it means "any card with converted mana cost X in the entire MTGO data base"?
Chances are hardly any people are going to want this. It's just too erratic for most players liking.:)

but its differnetly a cool format (that 60 lands+ momir vig). Perhaps you could chose format like eg. standard (I dont have an idea what would happend if you chosed 11 then tho (no critters I think) - perhaps the same as if you tried to play something illegal in paper (eg. you didnt and you rewind back)...
Could anyone report if you could play with it only in some specifik block? that could be ultra cool...

I would totally play vanguard.
Vig deck vs Vig deck seems like a format in itself IMO.
I would love that.

Vig and the 56 land Terravore deck. woot. Sure you might get a terravore on a lucky hit with the vig, but that is probably rare.
I would guess that it is limited to the format you are in. So if you use it in Vanguard Open you can get a lot more choices than in Vanguard Standard.

I get Hellbent in every game I play. Maybe I should start playing with Rakdos cards.

The best deck would proberly be 4 terravores 4 crucbles 4 dark confindant (2/1 and draw a card for very close to free) and 4 life from the loom and lots of karoos (and some basics)... [edit] and some utopia sprawls - free mana accel past turn 1 would be nice[/edit]
But its not about the best deck (I think the 60 basic lands (its more fair with basic lands - more tactics, less streagy) one is the coolest deck I've heard about for a long long time...)
I hope its the partion one because I dont doubt this will become expensiv (I havnt really played on MODO before - one draft and a few casual games (mostly offline draft/a bit type 2 but if this is the partion one I will get it (if its the other I will see if I can buy it cheap (hope hope hope))

no matter what format you chose, Classic, Extended or Standard with Vanguard you still are using the pool of creatures from Classic. Not sure if that is how it is ment to work but htats what it is doing.

I guess since it is Vanguard it is ok to do that, but it kind of seems wrong if you are playing in a vanguard event and get a creature that is not legal in that format.

What happens if you activate Momir Vig for a cost that has no creatures, such as 13 or 17?
You do nothing. Just like how you don't get anything if you play Patriarch's Bidding with no creature cards in your graveyard. Why would you even pay 13 or 17? O.o

If you came here expecting a signature, you've just wasted your time.
X, Discard a card: Put a token into play as a copy of a random creature card with a converted mana cost X. Sorcery speed. Once per turn.
Lyzolda: H-1 L-1
Hellbent: One way Furnace of Wrath.
Hellbent: At your EOT each opponent discards a card.
I should think that it would be a copy of a creature in play .... though it could be a creature card in a visible zone... like the graveyard. I mean, both Green and BLue apparently are good at "remembering" (interact with graveyard in a recuperative way, not like zombification).
Anywho, I think Lyzolda is way too powerful as written. Only losing 1 life for a massive swing in the damage race, only losing 1 card for what will be made up for by the first trigger of the second ability.
It's easy to reach hellbent in the real game, why not in Vanguard? You know, the -1 hand size thing is probably a plus....

Epic banner by Erasmus of æтђєг.
Awesome avatar provided by Krashbot @ [Epic Graphics].
Looking at past examples, it seems likely that it will be legal in the format. Look at Booster Tutor. According to the FAQTIWDAWCC, Booster Tutor can only grab a booster legal in your tournament. Therefore, and to avoid major complaints, it will be something legal in the format.
Why do people assume Momir will have to get a creature card legal in the format?
It says "random creature card". So it will use a random card from among all creature cards which exist (or MODO knows of).
Either that or people aren't presenting the source correctly.
This is actually true. In fact, Beta testers have been told that Dev's cannot even program such a restriction on the copied cards with the current client. Changing the format type just changes the legality of the cards, and there is no system in place that would allow for changing how a card works in different legalities. For the Avatar to function like this, Mormir would have to select from a different pool of cards when a different format is selected. This is impossible with the current software.
In other words, you are just as likely to get a Morphling at X=5 in "Classic" as in T2.

Acually whomever said that is wrong... In casual, the 5 judgment wishes only allow you to use cards legal in that format. So, whatever they're saying, the Devs HAVE done it before. They just don't want to in this case.

It also can pull Phyrexian Marauder and Phyrexian Walker from Visions.
Unfortunatly using Momir's ability for 11 seems to barf up Mycosynth Golem much more often.
Problem with Phyrexian Marauder is that it is put into a graveyard immediately unless its toughness is greater than 0.:)
Momir Vig is an interesting avatar, but it is reminiscent of the Sakashima avatar.:) Pretty cool.;)
