I'm guessing each guild will have two halves of a card, here's why:
Here we see one of the 5 enemy color trios:
WBG
RUG
BWR
BGU
WRU
so we'll have one more golgari and another orzhov card, just not together. In addition, there' s the allied trios, as follows:
UWG
RGW
UBR
GRB
WUB

As much as I'm against the OTT view that this card is going to solo tournaments, cure cancer and make Susan Boyle attractive I'm not really a fan of the opposing camp who think it slaughters puppies and sired Justin Bieber.
I wonder if there'll just be five split cards, one for each color, with each half having one of that color's enemies? How could they possibly come up with enough of these powerful effects to do the allies as well?
I'd guess it'd be 10:
5 of friendly-color guilds:
WU/UB
UB/BR
BR/RG
RG/GW
GW/WU
5 of enemy-color guilds:
WB/BG
UR/RW
BG/GU
RW/WB
GU/UR
Wow, this is amazing. I'm guessing there are ten split cards: for each color that is shared, there will be two cards using the other four colors. Sorry if thats hard to understand, but it seems like that might be the case.
now that i think back on all the bits and peices of info. do i recall there being 15 split cards suposedly? if so they could do 5 hybrid/guild mana split cards as well
Woah. That is awesome. I was simply stunned when I saw that.
I would guess that we will see 10 such cards. For each color there would be a card that was [color][enemy color #1] / [color][enemy color#2] and a card that was [color][friendly color#1] / [color][friendly color#2].
So you would have:
WU / WG, WR / WB, UB / UW, UR / UG, BU / BR, BG / BW, RG / RB, RW / RU, GW / GR, GB / GU
It seems like 45 cards wouldn't leave enough room for the 3 guilds to get their own stuff, but I haven't crunched the numbers.
[Edit: Looks like this was a simultaneously popular idea]
There are a total of 30 possible combinations (remember, :symwb::symwg: isn't the same as :symbg::symbw: ) for Guild split-cards, so the question is whether they'll actually make all 30, or have one "half" per guild.
EDIT: Correction, I suppose it would be more like two halves (one whole?) per guild.
Might be a cycle of enemy/ally splits, sure.
Maybe the ally ones will be uncommons though.
10 rares is alot.
Dissention is looking great. I really like this card, and the limited repercussions of a split gold spell that shares a color with each half, but only one color....are amazing.
Removal and...Unremoval. Beautiful.

Nice Card. Awsome art. I wonder what the others will be like. Great preview. Somewhat suprised that it was not any usless info. I am totally looking forward to dessension.
My jaw just ****ing DROPPED when I saw that. Holy crap! Split guild cards! That's just insane. Not to mention that's a great card. Crime to follow Mortify or just a good old fashioned (lol) Pernicious Deed [Edit: Ok, Powder Keg]. Holy crap. Plus, those are probably my two favourite guilds (at least so far), so I love it.
What we're doing here is akin to taking the text of Moby Dick, locating specific words therein, rearranging them to create a passage from Fight Club, and concluding from this evidence that Tyler Durden is based on Ahab.
Punishment for 1BG or 3BG is unhealthy for a lot of decks... Not quite sure if Crime will be used, however.

To people saying that there will only be Ally/Enemy colour combos, why is that? Ravnica block isn't in term of colours, it's in terms of guilds. Limiting Ally and Enemy colours would push towards certain guild "alliances", which is hardly the theme of a set called "Dissension".
I was already thinking of double boxing, now the thoughts of triple boxing are poping up and man I'm hopeing the R/G-G/B one is good (thoughts of B/R/G zooish pile of a deck has been running around in my head already and now.... the possibilities).
That's one hell of a preview card. I think most folks had called this when they had heard split cards would be back (the concept of splitting guilds, not colors), but I never thought that they would be this powerful.
WotC has done a great job with this set. It's a shame that they failed so heavily on the previous two.
Who would have thought that they would go back to split cards......and what's more, they are multi-multi-color, at least, technically. They are so pretty......
Punishment is a token Wrath, and Crime is, at the worst, a graveyard hoser. Steal Firemane, Grave Shell, ara ara... I doubt that R&D designed these to be played together, and I don't even think you can (because they're both sorceries...). I just hope my guild gets a good one, because BG/WB is probably my least favorite tri color pairing in the block.
I Hope it comes out as:
Orzhov/Golgari
Izzet/Boros
Simic/Azorius
Gruul/Rakdos
Simic/Selesneya

Underling Ethu's 263rd report read simply "Yes, my lord.Overwhelmingly, my lord." This marked the end of the Mirran-Phyrexian War.
Incredible. It's beautiful in so many ways. Not least of which being the Dostoevsky reference. Crime and Punishment seemed like a natural fit for original cycle of split cards and I was saddened when it didn't show up. Now I'm glad they waiting. This is what a great card name like that deserved.
I'm of the opinion that we'll only see five split cards, with one half a card for each guild, as follows:
The 5 allied color trio and 5 enemy color trio makes sense. Flavorwise, it would seem that for each guild, there's an internal separation as to which guild they are being allied to.
But that leaves us with 5 more cards in a 180-card set. What's next? Will there be a cycle of four color guildmana cards? (like, can represent the WGUB combination)
Heh, I bet wizards was like, "crap, since there's no spoilers, no one gives a **** about dissension... we'd better start hyping it early ourselves!"
/rant
Cool card, Crime is overcosted though...much easier to set up a early+beefy Zombify; Crime you can't build a deck around, so it's pretty much WBG only, as a 1% of the time option to punishment. Punishment is of course worth running w/o white.

turbo...my god. you have reached Uber-Nerd-Dom (TM).
I am quite impressed. I kinda saw something like this coming but I figured it would be with guildmana. very nice looking spells both of them. Assuming the spells on the rest are even somewhat decent they will all be bombs in draft because they keep the option for playing older guilds in the dissention pack

From MaRo
Every rarity gets good cards. That means that some mythic rares will be tournament quality as will some commons, some uncommons and some rares. My promise wasn't that mythic rares wouldn't get good cards but that we wouldn't limit the good cards to only being mythic rare.
Bear this in mind the next time a powerful mythic rare is spoiled
