I pleased you like the "good stuff" of Dissension. I hope there is more yet to come.

Yay!
Sorry SoTN for forgetting to respond.
I do see possibilities for a :symb::symr::symg: control deck, replacing Wild Cantor for Llanowar Elves, Elves of Deep Shadow, or Birds of Paradise, but that would be anti-synergistic with Wildfire and Savage Twister as that would take all your creature accelerants down. We also have the problems of mana screw (given the color demands of both black and red) as well as cost. For me, adding Green only dilutes the deck down, which is why, as much as possible, I'd like to keep the deck :symb::symr: only.
Seeing that Rakdos only becomes bad when he attacks (and boy do we want him to attack) we have to take care of the problem of him being taken down by removal. Discard can help, of course, but I think that mass land destruction is the best method of approach, seeing as many decks play those "karoo" bouncelands anyways:
Hypothetical Rakdos Deck
Spoiler:
4 Wild Cantor
4 Kagemaro, First to Suffer
4 Rakdos the Defiler
I believe that Phyrexian Arena is a good replacement for our missing 3cc Stone Rain variant. It also makes Kagemaro bigger, who incidentally doesn't die to Rakdos and functions as a Mutilate variant. Some of those swamps and mountains might become tendo ice bridges or rakdos karoos, though the latter will definitely lose us tempo. Obviously this deck will evolve as we get closer to the full spoiler, but I believe that this is a good framework to base deck construction with.
Any thoughts?
Great deck, however your deck may have issues with dealing with creatures, and mana screw.
Also the deck may not need Seismic Spike because apparently several cards require double black in the cost. So maybe, add Caustic Rain which costs 3B, which is in terms of CMC the same.
Both are nice cards. Won't see much constructed play, but are nice anyway. Kraj will be a nightmare for any deck in limited. Rakdos is at least a decent blocker. It would really suck to attack with it, sac half of your permanents and watch it get mortified.

I agree in casual they both have the potential to own. Personaly I like experiment kraj better than Rackdos. The abilite to pump up and copy abilites is just fun beyond reasone. I like that it helps with other simic stuff as well and it makes graft all the better. My thoughts on rackdos are not so great. Really its just not my style but it could if put in the right deck rule the board but If i ever see one in play ill do all in my power to get rid of it counterd or destroy or anything.
Avatar -- yes. Just prepare to take a Lightning Helix and that's Three-For-One.
Rakdos -- yes. If it's not Ravinca Brand, which is an environment fulled with Mortify, Putrefy, Repeal, Faith's Fetters, Pillory of Sleepless and so on floating around.
Not to mention the terrible Shining Shoal shining in the GHOST-DAD. Sacrifice 3/4 permenants you control, huh?
Rakdos is far too expensive for his guild (ironic, isn't it?) but he's a Timmy's dream. The first thing I thought of when I saw him was "Ebonblade Reaper with a better ability and evasion." The Experiment is great with Johnnies and might actually see some play outside of casual. Overall, not a bad day for previews.
Talk about coolness. Coolness factor = 5/5, however there is the problem of running too many colors (BRG).;)
Bro Onderzeeboot, if you're playing Extended why would you even think about Rakdos, the Defiler?
You'd rather run the classic Akroma, Petradon, Phantom Nishoba, etc. (maybe even a Phage the Untouchable for a touch of fun.) in a reanimator deck.
Well, I don't play extended and the thread is about Kraj (which is quite useless in my deck) and Rakdos (which kicks buttocks in my deck). You're right of course that there are better targets in ext. I tested it a bit in a standard deck, and the mana is quite consistant since you can run 16 sources, 24 if you include Birds of Paradise and Elves of Deep Shadow, and still have the green mana for a 1st turn mana accellerator off of a shockland/painland. You probably want to run more conventional and less risky threats than Rakdos like Kodama of the North Tree and Kokusho, the Evening Star and permanent ressurection in Zombify and Vigor Mortis. Basically anything big that is hard or dangerous to kill or has a game altering effect is fair game for this deck (Cry is there because you can target yourself in lack of an Avatar):
Avatar -- yes. Just prepare to take a Lightning Helix and that's Three-For-One.
If you make sure you need stuff in your 'yard it's not a 3-for-1 punch anymore. Look at my sample deck for an illustration on why you would want something in your 'yard.

These cards will at least make us think a little. The possibilities seem exciting. The only down side with these cards is all the spot removal available to us. But if you can hit just once with Rakdos, things could go down hill very quickly for your opponent.
Yeah, Shinning Shoal has some major interactions that completely hurt sometimes. While testing during the beginning of RAV season for T2, my good friend was seeing how well Gifts was going to do in the Meta. I was playing a White Wheenie deck with Charge Across the Araba, Shinning Shoals, and Hokori's (which all of these make it a good match vs him.)
Well, at one point, I was sitting at 5 and he drops a Sakura-Tribe Elder after using multiple black shoals (hard-cast and alternate cast) before leaving 1 card and the played Elder on the table (wiping my team out.) He swings, I go to take 1, and he Ninjutsu's out Ink-Eyes... I shoal with the Hokori in my hand (only had 5 lands in play, so I could have only done 3 damage)... well, the wordings of Shoal and the wording of Ink-Eyes makes this a bad mistake.
See, Shinning Shoal doesn't prevent the damage, but instead actually redirects it. So, he assings 1 to me, and the 4 from the Shoal is assigned to him. Because of this, when Ink-Eyes triggers, he's able to get a creature from both my Graveyard and his own graveyard (and of course that's game cause I can't draw a non-existant *** in my WW Aggro deck.)
Just something to toss out there to those who need to understand how Shoal can own Rakdos, the Defiler. If you Shinning Shoal even just 1 point of damage to the owner's face, then they too lose another half of their permanents.

"In response to your Brainstorm, I use Vedalken Orrery to play Chains of Mephistopheles as an instant."
-- Duncan McGregor, DCI L3 Judge, while playing his "judgebreaker" deck in an IRL EDH game
So what the hell is the point of this deck? Let’s go through each card and hopefully get somewhere…
Scorched/plagued rusalka’s – Excellent first turn 1/1 creatures, but more importantly, food for Rakdos.
Avatar of dischord – it’s a turn 3 5/3 flying beast for 3 mana. It is frikkin broken. Plus it’s helping to put your Rakdos and Slag in the yard from your hand, getting them ready for Goryo’s Vengeance next turn.
Lyzolda, the blood witch – it’s almost like a mini greater good – only this time you get to deal 2 damage to the head, or draw a card, or for the dual coloured creatures do both. Not only that, but it lets you sac your fatties after a Vengeance, setting them up for another attack. Plus it attacks for 3. Solid all round.
Dread slag – it’s a 9/9 trample. It costs 5. I mean what the hell? Get this puppy out, One with Nothing yourself, and put your opponent on a clock. He better kill it soon, or it’s gg.
Rakdos, the Defiler – Here’s a solid win condition. What with all the little 1/1’s in play, attacking with Rakdos isn’t loosing you that much. And if he gets through, it’s gonna hurt your opponent – probably beyond repair.
Say you get him out turn 4 with a Goryo’s vengeance, and he gets through – if your opponent hasn’t played a creature yet, he’s taking 7 damage, and sacing 2 out of his 3 lands. It’s pretty much GG.
Char – The most solid burn in standard today. With an activated Anthem, it’s 8 damage for three mana. A perfect finisher.
One with Nothing – the mad tech of the deck – activates your anthem for the win, fattens your Slag, and activating hellbent.
Goryo’s vengeance – a well timed vengeance on Rakdos could spell GG for your opponent. Get to in your hand and you’re splicing for the win.
Anthem of Rakdos – get rid of your hand, and not only does it turn your 1/1’s into 3/1’s, it makes everything you do twice as nasty. 20 damage in one turn? Easy.
Seal of fire – zap those birds, elves and other rusalka’s to help Rakdos do more damage. Plus it gets a card out of your hand, edging you close to hellbent.
Sideboard gives you huge options in Cranials, voids, discard, burn etc.
As we have no idea about the official Rakdos cards, we can’t say much, but I think this is a good start in the right direction.
It’s about tempo, and smashing the face. The basics of magic with an evil twist.
Hey. Undercosted 7/6 beater that can deal with nearly every playable creature, who can win the game on his own and totally lock down opponet ISN'T a crap. He has just one weak point which should be 'fixed' by some discard or other disruption.

Oh man, the experiment is going to have some interesting interactions. My problem is, though, the Kamigawa flip cards will have odd issues. For instance, if Jushi Apprentice has a +1/+1 counter on it, and I have the experiment in play, and eight cards in hand, and use Kraj's 2U, T: Draw a card ability (which checks for then flips if you have 9 or more cards in hand), will Kraj flip? What happens if he does? Or does it not apply?
Flipping is not an activated ability. It is a triggered ability. Kraj won't copy it.
