This isnt really ground breaking news, but its intresting none the less.
Here is the story (i may of changed the unimportant details):
Im at Pro Tour LA, expecting Kev Walker to be present, so he could sign my Lighting Helixes, but he wasnt. In his stead was some new minor artist...Oh, Whats his name....Pete Venura or something like that.
All I know he hasnt done any intresting cards at all. Out of anger of Mr. Walker not being around, I kidnapped Paul, Pete, whatever his name is, and forced him to sign some of my cards (Alot too, like 20 or so).
While making him sign and sign and sign, i drilled him with the hard hitting questions such as,
"How are you today?"
"Hands hurt?"
He woudnt bend, he just answered nicely. How dare he! So i went for the big guns and asked him these questions:
Me: "How many arts are you doing for Coldsnap?"
Him: "Oh, Im doing 4. Now stop hitting me with that whip!"
Thats right he was finally breaking!
Next Question:
Me: "Can you tell us anything about the story"
Him: "No, But they did have a meeting with me, since i was the continuation editior back in Ice Age/Alliances (er, that guy that makes sure the storys make sense and belong)."
Me: "How long ago was that meeting? :D"
Him: "I cant tell you!"
At this point he dissapears into Ninja smoke.
So what we learned:
* Coldsnap has 4 cards done by Pete.
* They are obviously intending to keep the story farily close to Ice Age/Alliances since they had a meeting with the old story guy.
...okey we learned nothing. But at least the story was intresting!
PS. He mentioned the Playtest name for Kiki Jiki was much much worse then "kiki jiki"...which really says something.

Hahah. I thought he was talking about counter-strike as well, and it really through me off, cause i was browsing through a counter-strike forum earlier.
Well i asked Pete if any card names ever made him "groan" when he saw them. He was like "i cant think of any".
Then i was like "What about Kiki Jiki?"
He replied with "Well the name i saw was the playtest name, i cant think of what it was off the top of my head, but it was really bad."
You have to admit the Goblins from the Kamagawa block had silly names. Not stupid but like "groan, that bad", kinda names.

Oh, well its a good thing kev walker didn't show up there. I want him to show up here around the new england area. Not somewhere far away. I have a DCI balance (incoming) I want him to sign.
In his stead was some new minor artist...Oh, Whats his name....Pete Venura or something like that.
All I know he hasnt done any intresting cards at all.
Peter Venters has been doing art for magic since Antiguites. That is a long time so I don't think he is what you could say a "new minor artist". He did alot of the back stories during the Tempest block. He used to have a column in the duelist magazine where he would answer story line questions. He has been involved with magic for quite some time.

KIKI JIKI IS BAD NOW?!
Anyway, cool info, Myke. Pete is a pretty good artist, and it's nice to know he's done Coldsnap work.
