Hey rancoredelf, i am going to go living at vancouver next year. Its nice to know there are good magic events there. Here in Mexico the prerelease was very good, and with a great number of attendance.
i would like to say 2 things:
1. I really like Disembowl. Awsome name, cool art, and a very nice flavor text. the effect is okay...
2. i wish my local game store had a pre release...
You asked me if I had any, and I told you I ripped mine up, which is what everybody should have done. You said "awww." Nice tie.
I spent a grand total of 64 cents and I'm missing only one of the set of pro players
Does anyone know whether the card between Itaru Ishida and Brian Kibler is Antoine Johannsen or William Jensen? It's organized by last name, and I can't figure out who I'm missing.
Also, no finkel in the set
Ok, noone wants to hear about pro player cards so I'll post some highlights.
Getting milled out of a match, after laughing at the viability of milling that very morning
Sponsoring a friend halfsies for a draft, telling him to raredraft like a whore, and he nets me a BoP (along with a vulturous zombie, which is cool I guess)
Getting passed a cardpool with 2x foil swamp, and foil elves of deep shadow
Sponsoring my friend for his sealed as well, and mostly good pulls from both pools: Sacred Foundry, Dimir Cutpurse, Glare of Subdual (hot in limited at least), Necroplasm (my new best friend) and Tunnel Vision rounding out my pool. Hunted Dragon, Circu, Hunted Troll, Searing Meditation, and Cloudstone Curio (ouch) in my friends.
Pulling a 4-2 record, which sadly, is better than my usual. Netting 3 packs and ripping Char, Grozoth (boooo) and Spawnbroker (boooourns)
Hopefully we can continue to have the Vancouver prereleases at the Days Inn Surrey. It was so much nicer having room to breathe, clean washrooms, nice white tablecloths (which some people found it absolutely necessary to draw on ) and friendly staff (Well, friendly considering how we as a group must have looked).
All in all, great experience, I'm glad there's a day two and a 2-headed giant event
Louisville, KY... 288 people attended, 9 rounds, lasted until midnight. I got almost the exact deck I wanted, which oddly enough had np black in it at all. I played a Selesnya deck and it was amazing. Heres the decklist
8 Plains
9 Forest
1 Vitu-Ghazi, the City-Tree... This was amazing
White
Courier Hawk
2 Screeching Griffin
Faiths Fetters--loved thi one too
Conclave Equenaut
Auratouched Mage--See Below
Votary of The Conclave
Sandsower
Nightguard Patrol
Conclaves Blessing
Green
Doubling Season
Fists of Ironwood
Bramble Elemental
2 Transluminant
Scatter the seeds
2 Civic Wayfinder
Golgari Brownscale
Gold
Watchwolf
Glare of Subdual---WTF OMG This is crazy
Hybrid
Gaze of the Gorgon
This deck was really amazing. I went 5 and 0 until I matched up against the only other guy who hadnt lost a match, and he was just plain good. The stand out card in this deck was glare of subdual, something that never even struck me as good until I used it. With Auratouched Mgae, Fists of Ironwood, and Scatter The Seeds I was making a ton of Saprolings, Then I could just use five or six of them to tap down my opponent every turn and beat on them. I had so many people get pissed because as soon as they would untap i would make them tap again. The deck had such great synergy, I really was amazed by how well it did. I ended up losing twice more later that night because I matched against a great w/b/r deck with a ton of creatures and some versatile kill spells, and then my final match of the night I lost in an almost perfect Mirror Match. I like the selesnya Guild deck, but as far as competitive constructed I really cant see it as a threat. Black could have wiped out my saprolings in constructed too easy, However I like the deck and I am definitly building a Selesnya deck for casual.
and convoke is damn good believe it or not.

When Erect Polearm is in play, you may tap and untap it as many times as you want to. After the 25th tap, Erect Polearm ejaculates into a tissue, which you then throw behind the couch.

Short answer: no. Long Answer: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
I went to the Boxboro Prere, and went 3-0-0 for just me. My team went 2-1... So it's good. Weird things that happened:
1) ABSOULUTE BOMBS IN U/B! After furiously arguing with my friend about who gets to play U/B (Szadek, Doppelganger, and Helldozer), I gave it up to play a G/B deck that had no rares available to it. Siege Wurm and Golgari Rotwurm were in it though, and that switch was a good thing.
2) When the judge handed out the free packs, I reached to take one pack on the left (there were two packs),but the guy across from me snatched it. He proceeded to open a foil Circu.
3)Again, my deck was awesome. Siege Wurm is the best common, period. Again on getting shafted, my team opened Hunted Lammasu, Hunted Dragon, and Hunted Phantasm. I keep the Phantasm and Lamma though
4)Dredge is really cool. I keep recurring Shambling Shell and dumping +1/+1 counters on a Siege Wurm.
Ok because i still have my deck constructed from my sealed ill take some time and post it up now.
OK so my rares were crap i got the big 9/14 Worm the Closed Bottler and R/W Dual and umm Flaming Fusslade. ANd Loxodon Gatekeeper
OK so here it is
Sunhome
R/W Dual
Loxodon GateKeeper
Flaming Fusilade
Boros Garrison (i like this card)
Blue(splash)
Stasis Cell
Survelling Sprite
Halcyon Glaze
Vedalken Entrancer(blocker)
Snapping Drake
Courier Hawk
Bathe in Light x2
Benevolent Ancestor
Faiths Ferrers(BOMB)
Conclave Equenaut
Screeching Griffin x2
Conclaves Blessing
Fiery Conclusion
Ordruun COmmando
War Torch Goblin
Rain of Embers
Viashino Fangtail
Flame-Kin Zealot
Skyhunter Legionnaire
Ok so round one i face this girl who sat right next to me in deck construction and her deck was pretty good.
Game 1 Round 1
SHe sits on one mana as i beat her down really fast... Im suprised at the speed of my deck.
Game 2 Round 1 She this time actually gets a total of 3 mana out but she still gets beat down by flyers really fast.
So im talking to her and its her first tournament (shes like 24) but she was playing 8 mana in her deck so that was my bye.
Ok round 2 Im facing this guy who i still think cheated. Ok so hes been playing since like Beta he says but has started and stopped along the way. So i figure hes really cocky and i should give him a run for his money if i am going to lose.
Game one i get obliterated. THis guy got 2 Firemane Angels and Razia and Brightflame. OK this is why i think he cheated those rares are godly.
Game 2 Round 2 I start off early with the flying beats. Ordruun Commando and Sunhome held him at bay on the ground. Finally i just beat his face in and then we moved onto game 3...
Ok this game the dude got mana screwed... but this game was so much fun for me not because of like how i won but because everytime he knew he was losing he would make a face like he was about to sob and i had to try really hard not to cry. Anyways he held on in game 3 so long due to a 2/1 that he can tap it to make one of my guys unable to block or attack which until rain of blades cured me of this problem only allowed to attack at a bit under full power. So finally i broke through and went on to the 3rd round
OK so i felt bad playing this round... This guy obiously had some mental defficiencies but hey he was 2-0 as well why should i go easy. So i didnt. Game 1 he was struggling to keep up with my speed. His only flyer Vulturus Zombie died as it hit the table... He was going to give it 2 counters in response i Fiery Conclusioned it. Whew i had no way to handle that card. Then he dropped another creature which I Faith's Fettered and found out that was his only creature in his hand and he had 4 lands in hand. On to game 2
This game was really easy he basically drew all lands and no creatures and i beat him down. But i finished him off using the Flame Fussilade. I have to admit up until that point i read the card wrong and assumed that it was just creatures you control... yeah it wasnt it is permanents so with that burst of info i pinged him to death that turn.
Ok final round (in NYC they do 4 rounds but worse prize support ugh)
So i offered him the draw and he turned me down. I was mucho dissapointed. This guy had beaten a bunch of my friends and i was a bit nervous.
OK so game 1 i had a 2 land hand but i had an entire 3 costing hand so i was good and plus i was on the draw i figured i had 3 turns to draw something.
I didnt draw one land so well i lost and fast
Game 2 Same exact thing... except not after he dropped Razia and Brightflame on my little weenies.
ok so 3-1 not so bad i got 5 packs.
the worst part of this was i entered another sealed opened Bombs Tolmir Wolfsblood and a ton of other G/W bombs and my ride showed up so i had to go. Was unfortuate because i could have easily won that...
But all in all Ravnica is a lot of fun A LOT of fun
that was fun. my friend played two seals, and when he was done, he only spent $25 on two sealed, 100 sleeves, a deck box, and a foot long hoagie + root beer. with lots of cards left
i went R/W/G first. after playtesting with a friend, i took out red for blue with about 30 seconds left. after first game, i took out blue for black. i kept that
I pulled three guardian of vitu-ghazi (4/7 vigilance) and the hierarch, so i played those. after the third game i droped 2-1 because i wanted to join another sealed event with my friends
next sealed:
sisters of stone death (:-))
Gleancrawler (;))
woodwraith corrupter (:-))
pariah's shield
empty the catacombs
the sick thing was... i opened my tourney pack first, and got the sisters, gleancrawer, and woodwriath with a foil golgari guildmage in that pack. my friend's reaction was of utter confusion. i had mostly multicolor cards, as i had a total of four white cards (two of which i used) and six green cards (i uesd 5 of them), but i new g/b was automatically in
unfortuntely, i didn't pull any siege wurms and i was always short of primary colors. i ran b/g/w in both sealed, but i wuld always have the majority of cards in my red and blue piles, which were insanely weak
I went 2-2 with a blue black using mainly
Disembowel(better than it looks in limited)
Perplex(yet I never actually cast it)
Golgari Thug(fun with Infected Host...hehehe)
Thought-Picker Witch(more fun with Infected Host...hahaha)
Infected Host(yet more fun with Infected Host...hohoho)
I had my round 3 opponent at 4 life and 3 2/2 creatures with his field and hand empty...he topdecks Glimpse for the win. Drat!
My team got DQed before the first round and so our cards got confiscated. At least one of my team mates and I will get refunds. My other teammate is getting a temp ban and a temp ban from our local store as well. They calimed that she was trying to steal a pack of card protectors because she left the counter with them to go ask me for money. I was all of five feet away. My day ****ing sucked! I had been looking forward to this prerelease for weeks. I spent all of yesterday looking at spoilers to prepare for it and I didn't even ****ing get to keep the god damn cards.

"But then are we most in order when we are most out of order."-Jack Cade
"That is not dead which can eternal lie, And with strange aeons even death may die."
- H.P. Lovecraft
I remember my opponent being at 31, having no library, and triple rallying the righteous on my five goblins my opponent just gave to me with the phantasm. How nice.
1st flight:
2-0-1 Playing G/W splashing no colors.
My deck was just pure awsome, and there was no need for splash. Should have been 3-0, but time was called when he was at 1 life, would've been dead next turn. Oh well, 7 packs is good.
2nd flight:
3-0 Glaying G/B splashing W
My deck was better than what I thought it would be. In three of about 8 games I beat the opponent down with Scion on Wild with Pollenbright Wings on it. Now thats fun.
Let me just say that the GW guildmage owns big time.
At first I was dissappointed byt he card pool , as I was hoping to play Boros. But I ended up with a deck that had no business losing any matches. I had virtually no playable R/W, but this was the playable other...
Blue
Snapping Drake
Terraformer
Tidewater Minion
Hunted Phantasm
Telling Time
Halcyon Glaze
Compulsive Research
Stasis Cell
Flight of Fancy
Here's my build. My only complaint is the lack of early creatures. A guildmage would have improved the deck greatly. IN hindsight, I probably should have played the Siege Wurm. I don't like Convoke at all and I felt that one huge trampler in the deck was enough.
Creatures (14)
1cc - Elvish Skysweeper. Was very good round 3 against 3(!) Faith's Fetters and a Hunted Lammasu.
2cc - Transluminant. Bears are ok.
Dimir Infiltrator. Never saw play, was sided out a lot.
3cc - Stinkweek Imp
Shambling Shell x 2
4cc - Moroii. Main route to Victory
Greater Mossdog
Mortipede
Mausoleum Turnkey.
Snapping Drake. (see Moroii)
5cc - URSAPINE!!!! Freaking thing came out every game.
Golgari Rotwurm. THink I played this once
8cc - Never used its ablilty Opponents HAD to kill this.
Spells(9)
Disembowel
Putrefy
Brainspoil - Transmuted several times for Ursapine
Telling Time
Recollect
Gather COurage
Farseek
Dimir Signet
BLoodletter Quill
7x swamp
7x forest
3x Island
Round 1 - Played a good RGW player. Trumpeter and Photohydra were early cards that prevented any attack, along with 4/7 Convoke and 0/4 healer. This game went all the way down to the time limit, with him finally getting the Boros Recurring Angel. I made 2 mistakes, but he had Sunhome and Boros Guildmage. Attacking was never a good deal for me, even with my removal and Ursapine. I might have been too hesitant early game to use removal spells on the trumpeter and the wall.
0-1 0-1
Round 2 Bye - This was not cool. The pods were already just 4 rounds long, and I just wanted to play some Magic. I sat out the entire COK BLock, and moved to Philly from Eugene, OR.
1-1
2-1-0
Round 3 - TOM
Tom was with a slow GW build with 3 Faith's Fetters! We was also playing the HUnted Lammasu which never hit me. Game one I drew about 6 cards with the Quill and used Recollect to Putrefy 2 bad guys. I lost game 2 to mana screw, after almost coming back and them losing to Twilight Drover Tokens. Game three saw him getting the screw, and I win easily.
2-1
4-2-0
Round 4
This guy was a good player and had a pretty bad deck. He had 2 Legionnaires, and some decent slow stuff (1/4 miller, 0/4 wall, Junktroller) Mostly he was just able to slow me down. First game was all Moroii and Ursapine teaming up. Game 2 was me getting a little mana screwed, but them recovering with disembowel and putrefy-recollect-putrefy. THen I transmuted Brainspoil into Ursapine and went to town. He nearly Milled me with the 1/4 and Lurking INformant. But I swung for the win with zero cards in the deck.
My opponent was astonished I could lose a match with my build. Maybe he was dissappointed he lost, maybe he was trying to suggest I was cheating, but he wasn't real happy either way.
3-1
6-2-0
I got 5 packs for the 3-1 record and opened a Watery Grave and Scion of the Wild. I was mostly dissappointed that I only got to play 6 games in all. I sided in Consult the Necrosages for the Infiltrator or Telling Time frequently and sided in the Sundering Vitae against the 3x Fetters Kid. Otherwise the deck was smooth and was just a little slow in the early going. If anyone is in the Philly area and drafts weekly at a store, let me know. I haven't found anything here in the city.
I didn't fall for it, but giving your opponent's creatures double strike and then blocking with Photohydra is dirty.
Free boosters? the judge handed down free product? Not here!!
We had 100 players and prizes were until 10th.:mad1:
hehe there were so many players in LA, prizes went down to top 128.

Evil is boring. The universe is friendly. Life is on your side. Joy is your birthright. Cynicism is idiotic. Fear is a bad habit. Despair is lazy. In fact, all of creation wants you to succeed. Act as if the universe is a prodigious miracle created for your amusement and illumination. Assume that secret helpers are working behind the scenes to assist you in turning into the gorgeous masterpiece you were born to be. . . Life always gives you exactly what you need, exactly when you need it.
the boston area pre-release was pretty cool. they sold out to flight 15(i think) by like 10:30 (opening 9am). i noticed a lack of radiance and people actually using transmute in their decks to find anything.
in respect to pro player cards, i played two flights, got a total of 10 pro player cards from people. I got 10 bucks for eating 2 of them (i was hungry) and then used the others to start a fire i cooked ramen with. over all, they didn't taste good, (not like those yummy spirits in kamigawa) but they burned almost 20% faster and brighter(the speed is completely made up) than anyother card i've tried to light.
I posted this in the Limited forum too, but I guess I can put it here too if you really want to know
WARNING: Angry Rant ahead
I went to the prerelease event earlier today at Dream Wizards in Rockville. I was excited for a change. This was the first prerelease I had ever been to, and I was looking forward to *gasp* actually having fun.
When I got there, the doors to the store hadn't opened yet and I was behind about 50 other people which wasn't good because I REALLY had to use the restroom.
Anyway, eventually I got in and I was in the "pink" flight (There were four: green, white, pink, and yellow). Anyway, I sat down and cracked open my packs and I was fairly pleased with my selection.....
I separated the cards into exactly the set up you see before you....I knew I had two bombs in Agrus Kos and Archon, plus my red and white was already pretty good, but then the Watchwolves were very tempting. I didn't like my black or my blue except for maybe two cards. I also noticed that a lot of my best stuff was low cost, fast, and efficient. I decided upon this build...
Mistakes that I know-- I shouldn't have played Moloch or Votary.......I thought I might need a couple one-drops and these were the best I could muster. I must also have misread Conclave Phalanx, because if I had read that right, it would have been in the deck over the Moloch. I also didn't play Caryatid because I was splashing the green and I didn't think double green was a good idea. Votary's regeneration actually did come in handy though, but I wish I had played Centaur Safeguard over it.
I was wondering what else I could have done, did I underestimate my black and blue? Should I have run Caryatid anyway?
The plan of the deck was simple. Smash face, attack, Smash face, attack, and then after that, give attacking a try.
Round One v. Brian Schenck
Game One - The deck works out fairly well as turn one Terrarion, turn two Watchwolf, turn three Legionnaire smash away along with other small creatures. Eventually, with some timely removal and then a Siege Wurm *damn* hit the field which made things tricky....that and *forgets name* the 2/3 black Fear guy with Sacrifice a creature to regenerate it get a few shots in. I had him down to four with Sparkmage and Watchwolf in play when he used Thoughtpicker Witch's ability. He didn't look happy. At the time, I knew that I could get Sparkmage through for one on the attack as Watchwolf would be blocked. However, I needed either Galvanic Arc or Seeds of Strength on the next draw to win it or else Siege Wurm and fear guy kill me. The Witch removed my Arc, and then I drew Seeds!!! Game one to GTB. 1-0
Game Two - Once again, I get the swarm going. Unfortunately, between Flight of Fancy on a Siege Wurm *sick* and good removal/power reduction spells he stabilizes. He takes control of the game and kills me with Siege Wurm and Woebringer Demon. 1-1
Game Three - This didn't go so well. I get him down to eleven when starts to mill the bejesus out of me. Psychic Drain for seven gets me in a lot of trouble. Luckily, I had Blazing Archon already in my hand so that he couldn't use his guys *again* to kill me. Archon was doing the heavy lifting/hitting for a few turns. Because of the milling threat, I had to use the sided-in Fiery Conclusion on his 1/4 walking Millstone. He then brought out a Siege Wurm which was fine until he Disemboweled (not kidding) Archon which basically ended my game and the match. 1-2, 0-1
Round Two v. Bryan St. Clair
I'd like to say that my swarm worked out nicely this time and I won this one with ease 2-0, or at least that I fought hard in defeat. Unfortunately, I cannot say either as I don't know what he had, how the games would have gone, or even what the fella looks like.
Apparently, I didn't show up for my second round match.
That was funny considering I had never left the store. I never heard an announcement that pairings were up for the 'pink' bracket. I heard the green one, the yellow one, and the white one. Not the pink. I was thinking that it was taking an awfully long time to get the pairings up. I went to the back where the pairings were posted and I noticed that the 2nd round pairings were up. I asked how long they had been up and they told me 20 minutes. WHAT? I told them I never heard any announcement that I was at the front of the store the entire time to stay out of everyone's way. They said they sent people up there to announce it. BULL**** they did and there was at least a half dozen other people up there who could back me up on that.
I had told them that I didn't blame them for it, but I was biting my tongue as I said it. I didn't want to let them know what I really thought and get thrown out of a prerelease.
Way to go, tournament staff. Good job ****ing this up.
@Bryan: If you see this, I'm sorry you got robbed out of playing your second round match because of these idiots
I was told by other players that two match wins would net me 3-4 packs so I figured that I could stay in and pick up two wins
I stood by the pillar the entire time until the postings went up again.
Sad thing is, as much as that pissed me off, it got worse during round four.
Round Three v. William Prindle
Game One - I just stopmed away with my guys....he got through for two damage and that was it. Between Watchwolves, Sparkmages and Legionaire, it was over before we got started. 1-0
Between games, I found out that he had made a 60-card deck with 24 lands and 36 threats.....I knew that against my deck, that was going to make things easier for me.
Game Two - He never got going, he eventually got a Siege Wurm out, but by then I had such a huge lead in life that I wasn't that concerned with it. However, I decided to go ahead and try to take it out in case it did become a problem. I attacked with Nightguard Patrol, Legionnaire and Sparkmage with Seeds of Strength in my hand with evert intention of Giant Growthing Patrol in case he blocked it. He blocked Patrol with Siege Wurm and my 5/4 first striker knocked off Siege Wurm no question asked. This was a perfect 20-0 victory. 2-0, 1-2 (1-1 actually)
Back to the pillar until the 4th round pairings were up.
Round Four v. Edward Ezekiel
Game One - Firemane Angel is good.......REAL GOOD against me. We were trading damage back and forth until I got a Legionnaire going. I took a decent lead and then he got Firemane Angel with Veteran Armorer in play *ugh* I decided that since I wasn't going to use Skyknight to block it anyway after it attacked me that I should get in as much as I can. I had eight lands out and Blazing Archon in my hand ready to go. Unfortunately, he too had a Rally the Righteous and he killed my Legionnaire. I never saw the ninth land and he killed me with Angel. 0-1
Game Two - CA-RUNCH. I got double Watchwolf early along with Legionnaire and starting nailing him with everything. After the game was over, I showed him my Agrus Kos that I could've casted and didn't. 1-1
Game Three - I had the decent draw, but the worst next few draws. Notice that I only have four cards in my deck that cost 4 mana or more and I DREW THEM ALL ON FOUR CONSECUTIVE TURNS with three lands in play. I also had a Watchwolf but no green mana available. Luckily, he couldn't kill me in time for me to get some juice going like Divebombers to kill *yippee* Firemane Angel EVEN after he used Thundersong Trumpter to prevent it from blocking. Anyway, a few turns later he got some fat stuff in play and I managed to drop the Archon. LET THE STALL BEGIN. I figured out by his reaction to Archon that he couldn't remove it. Well, he got Ghosts of the Innocent and Dromad Purebred in play and Firemane in the yard *ugh* I had a board with a Divebomber, a Legionnaire, Agrus Kos, Archon, and a few others. He had no fliers, but he had a Trumpeter. I drew Galvanic Arc, enchanted Agrus Kos with it and killed Trumpeter. He never managed to revive Firemane and SEVERAL TURNS LATER, I finally managed to get enough damage thru with Agrus, Legionnaire, Archon, and Divebomber (and a timely Seeds of Strength) to win the game. 2-1, 2-2 (2-1 actually)
During Round Four, the judge (I don't know his name, but I heard someone call him Ron or Rob) call for a player named Ben something or rather (I couldn't understand the last name) becuase his fourth round match had started. Excuse me, WTF was that? They give this guy a chance to play his match late, but I get a match loss. Needless to say that I was irate. I assume that he was allowed to play if he showed up. I do not know if "Ben" found his way there or not. I didn't stop my match to say anything. I waited until I was done. After the match, I filled out my match slip and got in line to put in the bin and claim my prize. The girl keeping score pulled it out and asked me what my record was. I said that I was 2-1 but the computer says 2-2. She handed me one pack. I asked "Dosen't 2-2 get 3 packs?" She showed me the little chart that says I needed to be at least 2-1-1. She said, "I hoped you had fun." I kindly said, "Round Two ruined that for me and this is bull****." MY EXACT WORDS. I went to the TO afterwards and said, "This Ben whatever gets a chance to play his game late but I get a match loss, that's BULL****." and I walked away. I didn't even want to listen to what he had to say.
I had planned on also doing a Booster Draft after my flight, but I was too pissed off at what had happened that I didn't want to stay there. I am a bit short-tempered and was sure that if I stayed any longer, I would have cussed someone out.
I will say this. The games themselves were fun, but retarded chimps could have run that better. My week-old nephew could have done a better job. I don't get out to many tournaments. In fact, I've only played two in the last year. Both of these tournaments were at Dream Wizards. In both cases, the tournaments were well run with little problems. I don't know what the hell happened this time. I know that it is just a prerelease, but everything has to be even. All situations have to be called right down the middle. This was flat out wrong. If this kind of crap is going to be happening, then I won't go again. I won't waste my time. Quite frankly, if I had known that this day was going to be like this, I wouldn't have even bothered. The only positive that came out of this day was the fact that I picked up some cards to build a Rock deck for the Extended PTQ season. This will mean having to go back to Dream Wizards. Hopefully by then, if its the same staff, they've got their heads on right.

Don't read anything LaPille. Your brain will thank you later. ----> VICTORY!
You know what I think, you had a few bombs that you so should have played. I mean, you already played Watchwolf, so you're already playing White.
The only things that can hold off a Phytohydra is black removal or a wall. Red direct damage only makes it bigger, as does an opponent's ground fat. Token generation during a ground stall is an awesome effect, especially when you have the ability to generate two tokens per turn, one of which is nearly unremovable (nobody outside of a Helldozer can realistically handle the uncommon lands)
I played in the Seattle one and ended up kinda scrubbin out with a R/W/g deck with 4 signets. I ended up hardcasting Razia 3 times. She is AMAZING. Seriously. and very doable with the signets. I think my favorite moment was eithnger my 6th turn kill with a 4th turn screechi griffin, 5th turn hunted dragon + screeching griffin attack, 6th turn Boros guildland double striking hunted dragon and screeching griffin, Or getting my ass handed to me by Zvi. He is probably the dorkiest man I ever met. He was having way too much fun using the pro tour cards as tokens. "Swing with Gadiel and Brain Kibler! *insert VERY dorky laugh*"
After attending the last SIX consecutive prerelease, I finally won prize! :dance2:
After opening TWO dual-lands, G/B and B/U. I decided that those 3 colors felt safe. (If I kept those packs, that is) After the judge playing head games, we learned we got to keep the packs we opened.
Game one took 25 turns each... nearly 30 minutes of the round was exhausted in this first game alone.. ground stall most of the game, tokens piling up on his side... Plague Boiler did it's thing, clearing the board allowing me to pull out a victory. My opponent revealed his hand, Autochthon Wurm .
Game 2 was much shorter 10-12 turns... Turn 8 i face down an Autochthon Wurm hardcast. Peel from Reality buys me a turn. Turn 9 is the return of the Wurm, accompanied by Selesnya Guildmage. Turn 10... Tolsimir Wolfsblood . *Gulp* Turn 11 shows the Wurm, 4 Saps, the Guildmage, and Tolsimir sideways... 4X 4/4 Saps, a 12/17 (!!!) Wurm, and more... i die horribly.
Game 3 was a blur, but i finished the game exactly as time ran out for the round.
Round 2.. Mostly White... A Turn 12 Blazing Archon puts a dent in my gameplan... with my opponent at one life and no direct damage options, my only hope was to topdeck Plague Boilder.. and i did! My next turn things got cleared away and i snuck in for the victory.
Game 2 was a clear bashing on his end, and i took no damage at all.
Round 3 I played one of my friend from a local tourney scene, and as expected i got creamed... Blazing Archon game 1, lots of other stuff Game 2, i never really had a chance.
Round 4 was an... Interesting one to say the least... Game 1 went long.. quite long, and I actually don't remember how i won it.
Game 2 was ANNOYING. My opponent "donated" 1 mana to my cause at the end of each of his turns, mana burning me slowly but constantly. Turn 7 or so a Razia, Boros Archangel made a guest appearance, and i bouned her back to his hand with Peel from Reality. Reemerge the Angel, swing for 6, kill a creature, mana burn me for 1. Turn LP 14... next turn attack hit me directly, burn for 1, LP 7. Topdeck!! Last Gasp drops the Archangel, and i bash through unmolested on the ground for the 4 to 0 win.
i ended up with a nice GWR deck seemed almost everyone was playing GWR or BGU
only 2 descent rares i got were a Birds and a Char there isn't anything better than haveing a nice brand new black boardered birds, with a bunch of nice shuffle spots =)
i won my 1st 3 rounds 2-0, in the forth round i got paired up against my brother but to avoid getting screwed out of some packs via tiebreakers if the other 2 3-0s desided to split we descided was better if 1 of us just conceeded so i took 1 for the team and end up with a 3-1 record and ended up with 23 packs between us
i ended up doing a draft later drafted up a good RW deck destroyed my 1st opponent in round 2 i'm about to win the game and my opponent draws a card and lo and behold its a trophy hunter and he is able to pull the game off without the threat of my fliers and i couldnt happen to find my last galvanic arc so he take it, game 2 i'm almost winning and he topdecks a 1/1 flying sprite the only other way in his deck the block/deal with fliers and the 1 turn the he blocked was enough for his 5/4 wurm to fling enough crits at me for the win...it was the 1st time ive ever lost a draft at the PR...moral of the story, if you are playing fliers hope to never have a trophy hunter hit the board across from you.
but on the good side i opened up my packs and got a nice shiney RW duelland...it looks so nice...

"Everybody belongs to everybody else" Aldous Huxley
I'd like to defend Dream Wizards' staff against your unfair libel. First, I highly doubt it was the staff's fault for you missing your second-round match--and by 20 minutes? You could not have been in the store between rounds to have missed it by that much, as Dream Wizards is relatively small compared to other gaming shops. Did you take a quick stop at Wendy's, perhaps? Second, the staff at DW is EXTREMELY TOLERANT OF PLAYERS WHO MISS THEIR ROUNDS. There is therefore no reason for you to complain of their "favoratism" towards "Ben". Did you ever once think that their so-called favoratism was, in fact, a way of improving their communication system with players, of straying from the VERY unfortunate episode you had to tolerate?
If this complaint shows anything, it is that what took place at Dream Wizards truly was intolerable, but not for you, open-minded player, but rather for the staff who has been so understanding in countless past situations such as this.
Show a little respect, would you? Appreciate the fact that you actually HAVE a prerelease to attend. Argh.
-Bismarck.
Did anyone finish a set of Ravnica in the two days?
I missed out on 4 rares. People were either asking way too much for card ($10 for junk rares(sisters), $20 for birds) or Or I just didn't see certain cards (GB dual and Lobotonist)
After 3pm Sunday, I had exhausted all my options.
I still haven't seen a Lobotonist, or a GB dual land.
As far as the tourny, too much deck stacking. In fact, thats the reason why between the four of us that went up, we pnly played 6 flights between the asll of us. Too much cheating.
I actually played people with 3 lighting helixes, 3 gaze of gorgons, and a few legiononaires.
A similar thing happened to me except it was the last round and I was currently undefeated. I was sitting there waiting for the last rounds pairings for my pod to be called but they announced some computer problems with the two-headed giant and team sealed matches so I figured this effected my pod as well. I then start getting suspicious and head over to ask someone what is taking so long. As you may have guessed the round had already started. So I thought, okay, no prob, my opponent gets some free packs and I can pick up a few less. Well, prize time comes around and I don't get squat! Apparently if you show up to late they automatically drop you from the entire tourny and even if you finished in the prizes you get nothing! I held back my chagrin and politely complained. They said under normal circumstances they would gladly give me the prizes, but they were very very tight on product so chose to forgoe the usual generosity and envoke the power of the technicality.
Despite this, I kept a very positive attitude and entered into another pod (last one for the day) and won 12 packs.

1. I really like Disembowl. Awsome name, cool art, and a very nice flavor text. the effect is okay...
2. i wish my local game store had a pre release...
All in all, great experience, I'm glad there's a day two and a 2-headed giant event
8 Plains

I'll post a decklist and game reports later.
But all in all Ravnica is a lot of fun A LOT of fun
that was fun. my friend played two seals, and when he was done, he only spent $25 on two sealed, 100 sleeves, a deck box, and a foot long hoagie + root beer. with lots of cards left
i did ok, tho i had some funny pulls
sealed 1.
rares were:
loxodon hierarch (SICK)
Master warcraft (SIIIIICK)
crown of convergence
brightflame
plague boiler (sb card)
i went R/W/G first. after playtesting with a friend, i took out red for blue with about 30 seconds left. after first game, i took out blue for black. i kept that
I pulled three guardian of vitu-ghazi (4/7 vigilance) and the hierarch, so i played those. after the third game i droped 2-1 because i wanted to join another sealed event with my friends
next sealed:
sisters of stone death (:-))
Disembowel(better than it looks in limited)
Perplex(yet I never actually cast it)
Golgari Thug(fun with Infected Host...hehehe)
Thought-Picker Witch(more fun with Infected Host...hahaha)
Infected Host(yet more fun with Infected Host...hohoho)
I had my round 3 opponent at 4 life and 3 2/2 creatures with his field and hand empty...he topdecks Glimpse for the win. Drat!
Click my sig (made by Grey) and get your own!
"That is not dead which can eternal lie, And with strange aeons even death may die."
- H.P. Lovecraft
Green
Elvish Skysweeper
Transluminant
URSAPINE
Greater Mossdog
Siege Wurm
Gather Courage
Farseek
Recollect
Dryad's Caress
Doubling Season
Black
Stinkweed Imp
MOrtipede
Mausoleum Turnkey
Netherborn Phalanx
Disembowel
Nightmare Void
Shred Memory
Brainspoil
Gold
Moroii
Mindleach Mass
Shambling Shell x 2
Golgari Rotwurm
Dimir Infiltrator
Putrefy
Consult the Necrosages x 2
Artifact
Spectral Searchlight
Boros Signet
Dimir Signet
Bloodletter Quill
I didn't fall for it, but giving your opponent's creatures double strike and then blocking with Photohydra is dirty.
hehe there were so many players in LA, prizes went down to top 128.
in respect to pro player cards, i played two flights, got a total of 10 pro player cards from people.

"Stoned players can't attack, block, or play spells or abilities."

After opening TWO dual-lands, G/B and B/U. I decided that those 3 colors felt safe. (If I kept those packs, that is) After the judge playing head games, we learned we got to keep the packs we opened.
So i built the following
2 Stinkweed Imp (Awesome card, holds back the big guys)
1 Mindleech Mass (Never got to use his ability)
2 Flight of Fancy (hey, it's a decent card in Limited)
2 Dimir Infiltrators (Not as bad as they seem)
2 Vigor Mortis (Yeah!) (See above card ;))
1 Golgari Rotwurm (Nice alt-win)
2 Tidewater Minion (decent?)
1 Terraformer (well.. it was a creature?)
1 Disembowel (Expensive)
1 Peel from Reality (OMG) nice stuff esp against Faith's Fetters
1 Greater Mossdog (Hill Giant with Dredge?)
1 Centaur Safeguard (Good stuff)
1 Last Gasp (wow) (Anti-Razia Tech) (Can't believe i used that word)
1 Golgari Grave-Troll (Overrated, IMO)
1 Nightmare Void (Never Dredged it)
1 Consult the Necrosages (Where's the Entwine?? :-))
1 Plague Boiler
Land
1 Watery Grave
1 Overgrown Tomb
6 Swamp
5 Forest
5 Island
Round 1 of 4 : Selesnya + more (can't recall)
Final Record 3-1 Rounds 6-3 Games.
Oh and I drafted too, Milling is FUN!! Glimpse the Unthinkable , Szadek, Lord of Secrets , Belltower Sphinx , and 2 Vedalken Entrancer !! i won a game, but was eliminated in the first round.. my win was by milling though.. and ended with a 40/40 Szadek.
i ended up with a nice GWR deck seemed almost everyone was playing GWR or BGU
only 2 descent rares i got were a Birds and a Char there isn't anything better than haveing a nice brand new black boardered birds, with a bunch of nice shuffle spots =)
i won my 1st 3 rounds 2-0, in the forth round i got paired up against my brother but to avoid getting screwed out of some packs via tiebreakers if the other 2 3-0s desided to split we descided was better if 1 of us just conceeded so i took 1 for the team and end up with a 3-1 record and ended up with 23 packs between us
i ended up doing a draft later drafted up a good RW deck destroyed my 1st opponent in round 2 i'm about to win the game and my opponent draws a card and lo and behold its a trophy hunter and he is able to pull the game off without the threat of my fliers and i couldnt happen to find my last galvanic arc so he take it, game 2 i'm almost winning and he topdecks a 1/1 flying sprite the only other way in his deck the block/deal with fliers and the 1 turn the he blocked was enough for his 5/4 wurm to fling enough crits at me for the win...it was the 1st time ive ever lost a draft at the PR...moral of the story, if you are playing fliers hope to never have a trophy hunter hit the board across from you.
but on the good side i opened up my packs and got a nice shiney RW duelland...it looks so nice...

Argh.
-Bismarck.

Despite this, I kept a very positive attitude and entered into another pod (last one for the day) and won 12 packs.
