Oni is good only because of the hand size; the ability is really not that great. I suppose it could be okay in the right deck, but still... not impressive.
Sakashima, on the other hand, is very nice. I could see some positively devious combos with this one...
The Oni is probably the participation avatar, given its simplicity. The original Vanguard's Tahngarth also has the Haste feature, but with a -1 card loss instead of +1. I like it.

Intensity, Integrity, Intelligence, Personified and Penguinified.
Excellent Find! I was wondering what vanguard avatars they would provide us from Saviors. Sakashima was my second guess, while i figured one of the Maros would probably be one. Oni of Wild Places most likely is the participation one. The Oni is going to be awesome. There are a lot of creatures that just aren't supposed to have haste.

Waiting patiently for MTGO Leagues to become a priority again. It's been 4 years .

or any fast, agressive creature deck. I was personally thinking White Weenie for casual.
Or elves. Elven decks are very fast. Basically, Lawnmower Elves become free. Priest of Titania becomes a goddess. Wirewood Channeler becomes a Fireball.

I think assaulting another player should have a range of penalties. (A light slap is a game loss, a kick in the nuts is a DQ, ghetto-stomping someone is a Ban for Life.) There could be article all about it, like "when to mulligan"

Yeah, who cares about goblins. Other races with haste is so much better, the only reason people think haste + goblin is because of Warcheif, sheesh.

Why did I ever think a signature in comic sans was a good idea?
You get them by participating in events one MTGO for the realease tourney and I really like the imposter could be good with reanimation.... like reanimate kokusho then copy him? avery turn maybe would be a fun deck. id like if it were life not mana....

yes turning of the tide that was a nice, props on breaking the deck
You will earn them by playing in saviors release tournaments. But like all vanguard cards you can only USE them in vanguard games. They've done vanguard tournaments...but i'm not sure if they've done any since the release.
Sakashima the Imposter
-1 Hand, -1 Life
X: Choose a creature you control. It becomes a copy of target creature with a converted mana cost of X.
This could actually be pretty strong. Tokens (except for copies of stuff) always have converted mana cost zero. Consider, say... hmm. Tomb of Urami doesn't quite work. Neither does Promise of Power, unless 0/0 demons are your thing. Are there any other reasonably-costed cards in Standard that make beefy tokens? Going back, there's always Roar of the Wurm. Turning a bunch of elves and snake tokens into 6/6s for free has to be worth something, no?
Regardless, this is just about the coolest effect imaginable.
Oh, and can you use these in like tournies and stuff? Or just in casual games?
There were a few vanguard tournaments when they were first released, but the formats are so broken that I doubt they'll have many more (First turn Arc-Slogger is not unusual in Standard). They're mostly just for casual play.
The two avatars are:
Oni of Wild Places
+1 hand, -2 Life
Creatures you control have haste.
Sakashima the Imposter
-1 Hand, -1 Life
X: Choose a creature you control. It becomes a copy of Target creature with a converted mana cost of X.

I see them being sold online for loads of cash. Most of the time $50+.

:confused3:
On a double-Mox, Seething Song hand, it happens all the time.
Wanna bet? It happens all the time, however you aren't considering the Vanguard format.
Elvish Champion Vanguard requires a land, a mox, a card to imprint on mox [red if land wasn't mountain], song, then slogger. It happened ALL the time.
Thats only five cards, and on the draw it's even easier.
