If that wording is correct, this is false. Quicksilver Fountain and Sensei Golden Tail have relatively similar abilities (event which produces a counter which is merely used to identify an object), yet neither of those cease to work if the original source (the Fountain and the Sensei) is removed. It'd be counterintuitive to assume this did, as well.
Well, as was said by some others, intuitively you would say that if That Which Was Stolen was sort of... uhm... re-stolen, you wouldn't be immortal anymore. I don't think you could discount the card just because it doesn't follow the same template as the fountain and the sensei. Anyway, if the card works as it is worded right now, I don't understand what all the hype's about, it really isn't that great.
Yeah... I played that with Darksteel Forge once, and the other kiddies decided that they didn't want to play with me anymore... :slant:
Seriously. About shut down the night's games. They were not happy. It sounds shiny, but it really makes for a boring game. (Didn't help that I was playing an all-artifact Chimera deck... ;))
Uh, of course, I'm talking about casual environments where the point isn't to slaughter your opponent(s) but to have a good time while playing the game. Sorry if I confused anyone!
Seriously, I really like the idea of this card. For those questioning if it's real... Uh, why are you? Jeff had RE give it to them, as a favor. It's real. Trust in Jeff - he's as cool as RE. (Don't blush, Jeff - it's true. )
Oh, and I honestly believe that the counters will do nothing if the card isn't in play. I think that it makes sense, thematically. If Konda loses the item that has the captured Kami, he loses his immortality, right? (That's a guess on my part - please feel free to contradict!)
Well, don't know if I'll use it (I'll have to go through my decks and see what makes sense), but it would be really sweet on an unblockable creature. Hmm... Yeah... My Energy Field deck might like it... :evil2: Off to look!
see... i don't know if i believe it yet. it's just WAY too powerful, though costly. do people realise they could use it on ANYTHING? that pesky enchantment no one likes? indestructable... or pesky creatures?
"i'll make my Samurai of The Pale Curtain Indestructable..."
it's REALLY powerful if used right. besides, couldn't you use it's ability on the stack?
"I'll Stone Rain..."
"I'll make my Swamp indestructable in response."
i mean it's really no more expensive to activate than some counterspells.
This card is definately good in limited, not it won't show up in every deck in limited, but that's because not everyone will draw one (assuming it's rare of course). This is a bomb in limited though, it's always good to have had to remove permanents in limited. Yes your permanet may die in response to you trying to make it indestructible, but that's a chance you have to take sometimes in limited.
As for the story from the site that revealed it... something doesn't quite smell right... I mean R_E is here, and we haven't had this card revealed to us... nor has he confirmed or denied the story either... I think the card could be real though.
Arkham, the 1920's. Investigators battle horrors from beyond time and space, risking life and sanity while conspiracies of cultists and malign servitors seek gateways for their outer gods to return...
Soon, the stars will be right! Great Cthulhu shall rise!
first of all this card is way too slow for t2.
if the best thing your deck can do is on turn 6 (maybe 5 with an bunch of accel) you can make one indestructible creature (most likely with a cc of 4 or less) then you should probably think about playing something else.
of course there are those who would argue 'but i can make march indestrutible too...' or 'an indestruictible plat angel is mint!' and while both of those statements are valid, this card still sucks.
secondly, as a limited card this is in no way a bomb. even with the lack of decent artifact removal in the block so far, i think this card is still too slow. sure it makes the myojin better, but they're still not playable in limited anyway. i suppose, however, if you've got the countermagic to back it up in limited it could be a decent control tool. but then again it's so fragile i'd rather play almost anything else in the 5 slot.
cas this card is good.
t2 this card is :puke:.
limited this card is meh.
obviously is for casual gameplay mostly... (personally i think it's "only")
were there's no rush for killing the opponent.. or some timmy environment with a slow game curve

I still haven't seen R_E confirm this. This card is whack anyway. etc. etc. etc.
I think some of the less observant people posting in this thread missed some fairly key points here: that Jeff Vondruska (y'know, the other guy who quit Mtgnews back in September?) posted it, that he knows the people running the site that posted it, and that R_E gave it to them specifically at his request?
Please try to see what's already been said in the thread before decrying a card as fake.
To everyone saying the card is never going to be played: I can guarantee that it will be played. In casual. (Cuz I'll be playing it - looks like it'll work great in a couple of decks I have. I'll have to play test it some more, but it's looking pretty nice... :))
Sorry, but that counts. (If you meant "never played in a tournament environment", my apologies - I missed the invisotext... ;))
I play casual multiplayer environment only and seeing great big nasty stuff that would never be playable elsewhere shows up in our games (like the game I had where I played Soulscour 3 x). I think that this is going to be a fun card to play. If I can keep it on the board that is. Hey I'll take an indestructible Llanowar any day

You know, I'm pretty sure if there was ever a sex tape of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt that got leaked to the public, watching it would cure people of cancer. I'm ****ing serious. Either that or make their eyes bleed for they have seen the true face of God.
While this is too slow for the current type 2, it may be ok after rotation perhaps?
no, because the biggest gripe about speed these days is that affinity is too fast. well, in my meta affinity is rarely played anymore and it's still a very fast and furious group of decks. while things are slowed down a tad, it's still too fast for a card like this to be useful. there is just too much deck manipulation going on right now for this to be able to pop out quick enough to make a differance.
yeah.. type 2 need to slow down a bit.. i mean.. it's a spike heavy environments.. and timmys had to (mostly) move to vintage

If only t2 wasn't dominated by stupid decks such as Ravager, then such a cool flavorful card might actaully see use, oh well. Also, congrats WOTC, I'm pretty sure that's the worst name ever put on a card!

I'm NOT AT ALL ABLE to build Madness, since I'm already building one for my partner in crime. Before you suggest a deck, check if it is madness. If the deck you were going to suggest IS in fact Madness, instead of posting, discard 2 cards.

There's a reason why said counterspells are seen as "crap". And this is only limited to countering a spell that would destroy a permanent you control and nothing more. It costs 5 mana to play and 4 to activate. This makes it too slow for constructed. It is most likely rare (I'd really love to hear any opposition to this belief), thus excluding it from being broken in Limited (it's good, but only if you pull it). And for the last time, power alone is not an indication of how real a card is. Especially when the power isn't as powerful as it initially seems.
mox lotus and that which was taken! it's timmy time!
lol.. just kidding.. i'm sure someone will find a good combo with it and all the mana accel stuff that's in kamigawa

To anyone saying this isn't a Limited bomb because it's a rare: So by that line of thought, Konda, the Dragons, and all the other crazy-strong Limited rares in CHK aren't bombs. Oh yeah, I guess you're right. [/sarcasm]
Limited bombs tend to be rares, because they're strong enough to be bombs. This will be a limited bomb because Limited is slow enough for this to matter, and when this starts to matter, it becomes downright awesome.
So this card must have just missed unhinged at least it seems like it should go there. (I kid of course) Its limited implication is similiar to shield of Kaldra's slow protection for late game. Thus I do not find it to be horribly useful. Bounce and pacifism effects really hinders this card.

I didn't say it wasn't a bomb, I said it wasn't a mistake and it wasn't going to destroy limited. It isn't, it's a rare. It's not always going to show up.

It is overcosted, has hardly any effect on your board position and it is far to slow. I like it!
