well the red shoal was already said to have that ability (think it is on the inquest magazine hints) while there was this rumor about an "old school artifact" variant in the set which would be white

Okay, Question:
I have a Blazing Shoal in my hand and, say, some dumb 6cc dragon. Can I announce my Blazing Shoal, splice onto it with a glacial ray or two, and then remove the dragon from my hand?
More importantly:
I have the shoal and a single glacial ray in my hand. Can I announce my spell, splice glacial ray onto it, then remove the glacial ray (IE shock and +2,+0 until end of turn at instant speed for 2 cards and 0 mana?)
Blazing Shoal = sweetness.
Big Red is already big, I mean how often do you get turn 2-3 Seething Arcslogger?
Now its like Turn 4 swing (remove another arcslogger) 9+ damage.
well the red shoal was already said to have that ability (think it is on the inquest magazine hints) while there was this rumor about an "old school artifact" variant in the set which would be white
Pyrite Spellbomb may make a comeback in affinity in T2 to deal with the spirit (yeah, right... as if affinity needs lands!)
G/R tooth may return... with Pyrite Spellbomb doing the majorty of the pinging to deal with the spirit.
The spirit MAY make WW better; but I plan on doing strange glacial ray tricks with the Shoal that will stop it flat.
Blazing Shoal = sweetness.

the problem with the red shoal is that u loose masive card advantage too get some more damage through... the question is will it be worth it

Shoals will make people run more legends. WHy not pitch extra legendary creatures to your Shoals?
T1: Mountain
T2: Mountain, Slith
T3: Mountain, song, Kumano.
T4: Mountain, kumano for 2, attack, pit Kumano to Shoal, splice on a glacial ray for free??? and pitch your extra Kumano to gike your unblocked attacker +5,+0. And silly me with only two Kumano. Guess I have to pick up some more!
bradleyjx@londes.com has corrected Neko-te to stun creature dealt damage by equipped creature, not equipped creature itself. Previously it was a typo. Typo still exists on this thread tho.
the problem with the red shoal is that u loose masive card advantage too get some more damage through... the question is will it be worth it
It is definitely worth it. Red is aggresive, it wants to get as much damage through as possible as quick as possible. Attack with Arc Slogger then play the Blazing Shoal then discard a Ryusei, the Falling Star deal a total of 10 damage in 1 turn.
I believe that the Shoals are a cycle. I've seen the one and the one so far, and both seem to be pretty good. I hope that the one is a card draw one. Draw cards equal to the casting cost of the card you discard, or just pay x and draw that many cards. If it is card draw you would probably have to loss life for each card draw, sort of like Skeletal Scrying from Odyssey. They already have some reanimation spells and dicard spells in this set so maybe they will have card draw for the one. One can only hope.
Think of it this way... it's a Shrapnelblast for unblocked creatures.
Attack with a Battle Mad Ronin in block. They don't block. Play Blazing Shoal then discard a Ryusei, the Falling Star (splice????). 2 cards, 6 damage, 0 mana. That's good tempo.
I'm pissed it's a rare though; now I actually need to get a set of 4 rares from BOK.
Well, the speculation on what old artifact and enchantment shows up on a creature was correct - white gets Worb. That's nice.
Blazing Shoal is bad card disadvantage, but it's also insanely powerful. Can you imagine putting this with something really silly like, oh, I don't know, Insurrection or Obliterate? Tyrant Dragon isn't too bad either. Yeah, it requires lucky draws, but free extra damage turns out to be fairly amazing when it's enough extra damage, as Hatred exhibits.
As to splicing, the answer is no - you aren't paying the splice cost, you're using an APC for the card. All additional costs have to be paid normally (the same way all additional costs work). So if you splice glacial ray onto this, it would cost 1R + the discarded card.
An odd sidenote is that (I suspect) you can discard the card you're splicing, since you reveal it when you're playing the spell and then pay all costs. Point of fact, I think that's the only way it could possibly work. When you look at it that way, it means that these combined with splice makes these 'free spells' which often don't do as much as you might like them to (because the normal cost of a splice spell is usually small).
T4: Mountain, kumano for 2, attack, pit Kumano to Shoal, splice on a glacial ray for free???
The shoal itself wouldn't cost any mana but you'll still have to play any splice costs. At any rate, I don't think the shoal will make any kind of impact on any major constructed format. It might see some play in block, but it won't make it into t2 big red decks. In big red, the highest CCs are usually 5 and if it runs Ryusei, 6. Since it's basically just going to be a five damage spell, you might as well just run shrapnel blast since it's more versatile.
Hokori, however, could very well be just the thing that white weenie needed to become competitive. It's been obvious for a whilte that the problem with ww wasn't the lack of good creatures, it was the lack of disruption and this very could be exactly what was needed to give it a shot in the arm. If nothing else, that card makes the Tooth and Nail matchup an autowin.
Neko-Te reads to me: Block and your dude doesn't untap, don't block lose an extra life or I might just send a ninja to your face. The unsummon ninja is really cool and strong.
Day of Destiny 3W
Legendary Enchantment

Weeeee've already got that, but thanks.
Now that Blazing Shoal would be really something else if you spliced a glacial ray on to it. Especially if Blazing Shoal cost no mana and you have all your extra mana to splice. That it some good stuff.
Neko-te to me reads: if my creature damages yours, yours is frozen solid till you draw artifact destruction. If you let me go unblocked, you take damage+lose life.
Blazing Shoal is creature dependent. That makes it intrinsically weaker. Yeah, it'll get some big hits here and there, but there's answers to it (like the blue shoal).
