@brine hmmm, it looks like anyone can just add themselves to the folder to be updated!!!! I just did it!! That is in dropbox. If you have dropbox already you can go to that link you pasted. go to the top of the page and hit copy to my drop box. And bam everything is in my drop box too. I dont know if they are linked to yours so we should test that. When you get on can you just add a simple text file to that folder as a test.
it appears its just copying them, but that might also be able to be used to update.
@brine I heard that if you share a folder with someone, anyone can add themselves to it if they get that link that you first emailed out. How about we try that. Email someone to add them then post the link that they received here.
Only down side with sharing it is anyone can add or delete files.
yeah I know about that, but I don't want to have to "babysit" the account and replace the files 2-3 times a day because somebody moved the files out of the dropbox folder.
Can anyone explain to me how to start joining games once i have built a deck. I dont know anyone else who has the program as of now, so i just need to find random people

btw Dropbox is pretty neat. I clicked "copy to my Dropbox" and couldn't figure out how to get it to stop for a while (I'm running out of space), and it's a shame that the software doesn't let you pick separate directories to sync yet, but overall it seems pretty promising.
How hard would it be to have OCTGN compare its set list with the ones on Dropbox and tell you when there's a new one?
How does one create a new game with this? For example, I want to create a game to play with no special rules or anything. I just want to create a deck, use my own .jpg images for the card images, and play.
Right now you need a bit of programming knowledge in form of xml, BUT with the upcoming release of octgn will arrive a new scripting system based on python, which will become the only language used to make scripts and game definitions, so I would wait for the upcoming release to start making a new game (it should come out one of the next days, probably next weekend). In the end, you need a bit of programming knowledge in form of python
There is a useful wiki for people who want to make new games, I suggest you to take a look at it because you will find much help. On the official forums there are also a lot of people who already made a game file who will help you. Many of them didn't know any programming like you and then they made their own game definitions, so i wouldn't worry too much
Barring that option, is there a way I can simply take an already-built game and import my own card names and card scans? I don't need to program anything special into the game, I merely need a deck shuffler that allows multiple players.
Also, I need to be able to turn cards 360 degrees. MWS doesn't do that, as far as I can tell.
In that case you just take a game already made (octgn.net has a subforum dedicated to each game already made and there are a bunch of them) and you just need to make a card set, which is not very difficult. In the wiki there are useful hints on how to make a set. Feel free to ask me (better by PM) if you need any help
By turn cards 360 degrees you meant 180? Because if you flip the card 360 it returns the position it was originally... Anyway, 180 degrees flip is possible, and it would be possible to make a 360 flip too, but i don't know any game having that kind of action, so i guess you would need to add that by yourself...
Well 180 isn't quite right though. I basically need a game where the cards can be positioned vertically or horizontally, but it has to be able to face each compass direction (the "top" edge of the card has to be able to face up, down, left, and right).
Oh ok I've understood, you need a rotate card action which actually lets the card rotate 4 times instead of 1 (tap/untap) or just flip 180 degrees.
It's quite possible to do it, but i don't know if any existing game uses a rotate action similar to that one, and that would force you to write a new game definition... Which is not really hard, because there are many good game makers who can help you. Ask at the official octgn.net forums and I'm sure you can find useful info and help

OCTGN was updated earlier this week with the new Python scripting engine, and as such I have updated the game definition to utilize this. There is still a lot of new features in the works so game definition updates are probably going to be released faster than usual these next few months. I'll keep posting here as the updates are released.
NOTE: This update will break compatibility with your old sets, meaning you either have to redownload the sets from the site (which have been updated already) or use this New patch file to update the sets from within OCTGN.
GET IT HERE (scroll down two posts) What's new in version 2.0?
First release featuring the new Python scripting engine
Scoop now resets all counters, has a hotkey shortcut at ctrl+shift+S, and asks for confirmation before proceeding
Does Not Untap & Allow Untap is now a toggle action instead of 2 separate actions
moving a card to the table, to your hand, to the graveyard, to the exiled zone, and to the library now reference where the card came from.
Reveal/hide Top Card of Library (ctrl+shift+R) - flips over the top card of your library and reports it to the chat log, similar in function to Morph.
removed hotkey for "roll D20" (ctrl+shift+R)
Add Counter... has an improved chat log message and is no longer in the "add counters" submenu
Sorry everybody, there was a little bit of an oversight with the last release. There's a game-breaking bug with the shuffle action right now. Shuffling too quickly causes all python scripting to lock up and remain unusable until the client is restarted.
I uploaded a temporary fix for this which you can find here (version 2.0.1)
What's new in version 2.0.1?
fixed the shuffle bug by using the old XML scripts for all shuffle actions instead of the new python scripts.
I need to tweak something. When OCTGN installed it didn't ask for a destination. It's in C:\Users\Home\AppData\Roaming...etc, etc.
Here's the problem, I can't access AppData. It doesn't appear when I go to C:\Users\Home
Therefore, I can't load the definitions - which DO ask for a destination - into the proper place.
Anyone know what setting I have to change to make all my files appear?
Thanks in advance.
Or just type %appdata% in the location bar.
I have a set called Promo-Champs.v1.0.[GO].o8s that won't patch/install, and I can't seem to find a link to it on the main site. Any idea what it is/was?

"Champs" has been renamed to "Extended Art Promos", so if you have champs remove it and install Extended Art Promos file instead.
"Full box promos"" file has been renamed to "buy-a-box promos", so if you have it installed you should remove it and install the new one as well.
Both files are already updated to the latest version and don't need to be patched.

I am trying to download all the sets. It seems that the Tempest set directs me to a login page instead of a download. So far all the other sets have downloaded.
I have windows 7 64 bit too and I never encountered a problem like this.

it appears its just copying them, but that might also be able to be used to update.
Open up the dropbox client and see if it automatically updated it for you. If not, try that download link again and see if it updates it then.
If this works, that'd be AWESOME

Can this be done without programming knowledge?
