Hey all. I am gettign an iPhone next week and I was wodnering if there are any apps that let you play mtg on it? Ive raed some things about Wagic but ti seems like that app doesnt have all the cards programmed in.
Are there any real apps our there?
What are the good apps for building and sharing decklists i.e. wasting time when I am supposed to be working?
If there are, I haven't found one. I've had an iPhone for a while and haven't been able to find anything. They should make an app for MTGO on the iPad though.
There are deck-building apps though. MTGdb is pretty good.
Closest thing is Kard Kombat, created by Richard Garfield. The $3 app (even though it says free you need to pay to play more than one or two matches) is worth the purchase as a decent strategy card game, though its no MtG.

The lack of MTGO on iOS is probably WOTC's most glaring current failure to market. The quality of the sets is solid these days and organized play weathered the upheaval and is entering a decent state of affairs, but there are eight figures left of the decimal in the number of iOS devices sold MONTHLY and right now WOTC gets ZERO revenue from that.

Agreed. However, MTGO might be too robust as an app, but, at the very least they should have an app that is something like Duels of the Planeswalkers.
As others have said, there's no actual app for playing Magic on the iphone. Personally I don't want the nightmare of playing Magic and all the zooming on mine with the touch screen, although on the iPad it'd be more viable. What I would like however is a draft simulator akin to the popular website.
I used the 'Decked builder' app. It's not free but it's totally worth it. You can build and keep saved any number of decks. Card searches are easy and intuitive. I do all my deck building on there now. It updates new sets about a week after they hit gatherer. It also gives you stats/prices on your deck and you can easily goldfish within the app itself.
They also make a drafting/sealed app called 'Decked Drafter' that pretty good, but you have to pay a few $ whenever a new set comes out to unlock it. Both apps have a lot of support though, so there haven't been any issues that weren't quickly resolved.
On Ascension: Chronicle of the Godslayer, I'm pretty sure it was made by Kibler. It's one of my favorite games on the iPhone and an awesome time sink whenever I'm travelling. Don't expect many updates though. There are a few things they could improve on and expansions would be welcome.

(Edit: the Wagic project is *always* looking for new devs. We lack the manpower to efficiently maintain the iPhone version, so if you're a dev and want to help, feel free to send me an email or a PM)

Unlike what others have said in this thread, there's an MTG App available for iOS, and as you mentioned, it's Wagic. But there are several drawbacks.
1 - You have to compile it yourself, there is no binary officially distributed (the main reason is that the guy in charge of the releases - me - doesn't own a Mac or any Apple device, the second reason is that it wouldn't be legally possible to distribute the game on the Apple appstore). If somebody's up to the task, I don't mind them distributing it. Most likely you will have to jailbreak your phone, though.
2 - If that's not stopping you (if you can find somebody nice enough to compile the game for you, it is open source: code.google.com/p/wagic/ ), it is also true that we do not support all cards, although we're getting there (about 8500 cards out of the 12'000 or so officially available).
As I've seen many times, people seem to think that supporting all MTG cards is the holy grail of MTG Simulations. But you should keep in mind that no official MTG Apps supports anything close to what Wagic supports (except MTGO which makes you pay for every single card)
Duels of the Planeswalkers supports about 300 cards AFAIK, Wagic supports more than 20 times this amount. This should help put things in perspective.
On top of that, making Magic work on iPhone is just wishful thinking. It is doable, everything is, but it would be like watching TV on a watch. What's the point?
The Wagic UI is optimized for small screens (initially it was designed for the PSP). The iPhone "touch only" type of interface is indeed a problem, but it's not "that" bad. Overall, except for elf decks with massive amounts of tokens, the game is very enjoyable on a phone (I use the android version, but I believe the iPhone 4 screen is roughly as good as recent Android phoes)
This example on android shows that it looks pretty even on a phone screen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F0CWaaY-c7E (the end of the video shows the touch interface...less convenient but still good )
Important note: I cannot tell you where to get the card images and graphics shown on the videos. The game, by default, supports card pictures, but does not ship with any illegal content

Apparently it was made by Magic tournament players.
