i was talking about how i wanted to build a mtg utility for the Nintendo ds home brew forums and some one volunteered to code it. so it looks like i will not be learning to code but instead helping with data files and art work.
does any one know if there is a recent card data base that one can download and use to build programs. id like to to include all the recent errata and such. thanks.

the first thought that comes to mind for me: if you have someone that can do the programming, what about taking it from Magic Online? MODO has all the card information stored somewhere in it. if somebody knew enough programming to know where to look, and how to open the files, they might get all this stuff in any easy format.
i got this cdsexplorer program but i cant get it to open
Edit: got it to open after and installing something called "midas.dll"
Edit 2: Finally figured out how to save it as XML but the file it saves is all garbled
You have to click in the table and select all and export with the right click menu, but I'm not sure. The following information is impossible to find, but I'm exposing it here:
A) Download maitai72's updated 10E game rulingshttp://www.mediafire.com/?7vjpmgsgpgm
After you put the .chm file into your C:\Program Files\Magic Workstation\Data folder, double click it and read Maitai's Helpful MWS Tips. He tells you how to modify/update the masterbase.
The masterbase works with the sets.dat file.

How to edit Sets.dat via xml with CDS Explorer:
1) Rename Sets.dat to Sets.cds
2) Open up CDS Explorer
CDS Explorer:
http://www.mediafire.com/?19ilmdssmb2
Error Loading Midas.dll:
http://www.afstrade.com/customers/support/afsTRADE-Windows/FAQ/ErrorLoadingMidasDLL.htm
3) Open Sets.cds
4) Click 3rd icon from the left (Save as)
5) Choose filename like Sets.xml (the extension is very important as otherwise you'll get delphi db format file)
6) Open the xml file and change what you need to
You can use any text editing software (I wouldn't use word or anything form the office line for this).
There is XML Notepad form Microsoft you might find useful for this job:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=72d6aa49-787d-4118-ba5f-4f30fe913628&displaylang=en
7) Open the xml file you edited via CDS explorer
8)Use Save as and export it to Sets.dat
If you followed these sets you should have successfully edited Sets.dat to your liking.

There's also one more way to make a set, but I don't have any documentation for it.
