Octgn stands for Online Card and Tabletop Gaming Network. It is a 100% free open-ended graphical card game emulator. With it, you can play your favorite card games with your friends online! Because of the versatility of its built in scripting API, OCTGN can be fully customized to accommodate any type of game. This website is dedicated towards providing you with the full Magic: The Gathering experience through OCTGN. You can visit the official OCTGN3 website at http://www.octgn.net
OCTGN beautifully displays the full artwork of the card on a fully-adjustable table. Cards can freely move around, and aren't locked to a grid if you choose to disable the card alignment functionality.
What do I need?
OCTGN runs off Microsoft's .NET 4.0 framework. You must have the latest version in order to properly install OCTGN to your system. Download the latest version HERE.
Once you have that installed, you can download the OCTGN client HERE.
Where are all the games?
Due to legal implications, OCTGN only comes games that have been officially supported by their owners.
I have set up a game directory for OCTGN, which contains information and download links for all "unofficial" games currently available for OCTGN. You can find it at http://www.octgngames.com.
Each game for OCTGN exists on the Game Directory Feed, which will automatically update the installed games as new updates are released.
OCTGN Games downloaded from the feed system are designed to tell OCTGN everything it needs to know about the game in order to you to play it. You can think of these files as Apps, and OCTGN itself as a phone.
I installed the Game Definition, but where are all the card images?
The Game itself does not include any of the card images associated with that game. Most of the games, including MTG, have included templates which automatically generate a 'proxy' card based on the card's data. To get the actual card images, you must download the Image Pack files, with the extension .O8C.
You can find all the Image Pack files associated with Magic: The Gathering HERE.
To install them, load up OCTGN and click on "Games Manager". Once inside, click the "Add Image Packs" button and select the o8c image packs you want to install. You can select more than one pack at a time!
The Sealed Deck Editor is a popular mode among OCTGN users, as it allows the player to build a Sealed deck with whatever packs they want then duke it out with other players!
Yeah I wasn't expecting this long a delay for the hi-res scans... I don't like making prerelease low-res versions of promo sets but it usually does t take this long
I personally use OCTGN for hardcore sealed playtesting for prerelease practice because of how amazing the sealed simulator is. After migrating from MWS to OCTGN, I can say with ease that me and my practice mate can blow through 3-4x as many pools as with MWS.
That being said, I hope the hi-rez scans allow you to post M13 before the prerelease weekend, and if not, perhaps a lo-rez temporary version for us to practice with?
the M13 file is currently using the digital images from Gatherer, as the high-resolution scans aren't available yet. As for the set not working, the download links are all working fine so try downloading them again?
Not sure where to post this - but, I was hoping to grab a little help about octgn3 - It keeps crapping out every time I try and do anything....
From starting up, to running solitare games, to shuffling to trying to use the deck editor, it will just stop responding.
Any suggestions, or can you point me in the right direction to get help?
Have not made it beyond two online turns before crash. Happens every time. Very buggy. Other players I meet during online games say the same. Too bad, as i really like the hq art and much larger card dispay over cocatrice. Gave up on this and now on cockatrice only, which has never crashed.

Are all of your files current? OCTGN Version? Game Version? Set Versions? Markers and tokens? I've found this fixes virtually all problems with the game.
I'm new to the game and looking for someone that's down to play a LOT while I get the hang of things. I come from other TCGs so I'm not entirely naive to the scene. I am a competitive player and am looking to take this far. I'm still in the process of acquainting myself with all of the rules, so let me know if this is interesting to you.
Hi everybody, I just realized how out-of-date the first post is. A lot has changed since we created this thread, and it sorta got tossed under the rug for a while. I hope to get the first post updated soon!
UPDATE: The post has now been updated to reflect the current situation of OCTGN.
Just want to give props to OCTGN. Amazing program, has a great interface and (finally) a good update system. Thanks to the game-playing interface it's miles and miles ahead of Cockatrice, imo. There are a couple of longstanding bugs that need badly to get fixed, but they only affect very large (5+ player) multiplayer games. I have no complaints.
The gamersjudgement sight is working now, but their OCTNG Games Directory link doesn't seem to be working. Is there any way to get the latest MTG game def without using the OCTG Games Directory?
It was working for me yesterday, did you copy and paste the link into the "feed" text box?

In either case, keep up the good work.

I have the exact same question. I believe when I select limited game, it tells me that only sealed event is available.

Works just fine, just make your EDH deck. Start a new game with just you in it. Load your deck and gold fish away.
