For some reason KMC Hyper Mats eventually develop mold spots much like with Dragon Shields which is why I've been thinking about trying out Ultimate Guards to see If they develop mold spots over a long period of time. I've used the Perfect Fits for them and the only complaints I've had with them are the dings and stretch marks on various sleeves.

Mold... spots? Got any pictures? I've been using hyper mattes for some time now, cubing very frequently and have yet to see anything remotely close.
If you're getting mold, it's more that you've got too much humidity in the area. Using a desiccant could completely prevent that from happening if you live in a high humidity area.

Unfortunately not though I've seen the same thing happen with regular Dragon Shield sleeves except for the Matte versions since they don't develop mold spots over time. I'm tempted to see If Ultimate Guard fares better than the KMC Hyper Mats or I'll probably end up going with Dragon Shield Mattes for now on.

I'm going back to paper magic, and I'm going to have four DFCs in my paper deck (a recreation of my online deck). Which transparent sleeves do you recommend for the actual DFC? Obviously, the checklist card will use my normal sleeves, but I don't want to keep taking out my DFC and damaging it over time with constant handling. I haven't had to deal with this in Magic Online because card sleeves and card backs are never an issue there.
I think I would probably just sleeve it in a KMC Perfect Fit and call it a day.
Question for others in the thread:
Does anyone use Dragon Shield Mattes and if so, have you noticed a difference in the shuffle-ability of the early runs compared to more recent ones?
It seems to be that the first couple boxes I bought (1 blue, 1 black) shuffle beautifully with little resistance, and they double sleeve well. More recent batches, purchased at GP DC and a couple weeks before are noticeably tighter and don't double sleeve as well, and they also are much more difficult to shuffle.
I was just curious as to whether anyone else has noticed anything like this. The most recent couple boxes are really putting me off of them and I am strongly considering going back to Hyper Mattes exclusively.

Sleeve question - I primarily use KMC Hyper Matte sleeves (plus perfect fits) for all of my EDH decks, and I like to keep them somewhat color-related. I'm a mash shuffler, and KMC Hyper Mattes are easily the best sleeve I've ever used - it's a damn shame they don't offer more color choices, considering how popular their products are among players and how seemingly simple it would be to have other color options.
I was thrilled to find out that there were purple Hyper Mattes when I made my Ulamog EDH because there was the whole "purple as a 6th color" conspiracy, and I felt like they represented colorless fairly well. On the other hand, the only deck I own currently not in KMCs is my 5-color Sliver Overlord deck, currently in yellow Ultra Pros. This deck is becoming one of my favorite pet decks, so I absolutely have to get them out of these garbage Ultra Pros - I was actually always a fan of them until I started using KMCs, but there's just no comparing the two any longer. That being said, I really like the yellow sleeves for my 5-color deck (gold is too cheesy, imo), but KMC doesn't make them in a matte finish and neither does Dragon Shield (never really been a fan of DS sleeves, but their matte sleeves are decent).
I've watched all the TCC videos (as well as a few others around YouTube), so I know I'm left with only a couple options, but I was hoping I might get some opinions from the community. I like to spend my money wisely, so anything will be helpful, but if you've used any of the following products (or have recommendations of your own), I'd appreciate any info you can provide:
Yellow Dragon Shields - I very much prefer the matte finish (regular Dragon Shields are durable and all, but they can't hold a candle to Hyper Mattes in terms of shuffle feel), but these may be one of my best/only options for decent yellow sleeves. How opaque are the backs? They seem pretty solid, but I was just curious, since the Ultra Pros are very easy to see through, and that's something I'd like to avoid.
Turquoise Dragon Shield (or Fusion/Copper as well) - I listed these because of the slightly newer manufacturing technique. They appear straighter, and seem to double-sleeve quite well, but I'm noticing people saying they're not as durable (though still very hard to break), and I'm also wondering how opaque the backs of these are. The turquoise color is another nice color choice I've seen people using on streams before - I'd prefer the yellows, but if these are better sleeves overall, I'd consider using them instead.
Yellow Ultimate Guard Matte - TCC didn't think too highly of the UG mattes, and I'm curious to see what other people thought. How opaque are the backs?
Turquoise Legion Double Matte - I saw these on the TCC video, but I'm wondering how dull foils will look with the matte front? Also, again, how opaque are the backs? It's a shame they don't have these with non-matte fronts...

I have not used yellow, but I was sorting some sleeves and found that both Dragon Shields and KMC have a teal (not turquoise) color that is almost identical for me (slight color blindness), but when mixed in a deck some appeared darker than others. Both were in the same condition, and I found that the only way I could tell the difference for sure was by holding them up to the light. DS were far more translucent (I compared to other dark colors that I knew were DS), which is what caused DS to look different with cards in them. Teal is a dark enough color that I have never feared a double-faced card would show through DS, but yellow would concern me. I have a couple of random yellow sleeves that I have acquired through singles on Puca Trade, and while I don't know the brand of the glossy ones I have they are pretty dang translucent.
In all the time I've been using them I can count on one hand how many times I've had a sleeve split. I did once get a bad batch of Perfect Fits, they were too loose and damn near impossible to double sleeve, but out of all the packs I've opened this has only happened once.
I dislike Ultra-Pro and would never recommend them to anyone. Aside from cool artwork, I find the sleeves jank. Dragonshield is far more tolerable, but I will always use KMC first - all other brands are second.

Take that for what it's worth.
Damn. This problem could be easily solved if KMC would just make more colors...

Not sure if I made this clear, but I was comparing the standard glossy finish of both KMC and DS.
Yep - I was referring to the slight transparency of the yellow sleeves you were mentioning. I was saying if they would only make yellow Hyper Mattes, I wouldn't need to be so picky - I'd take them even if they were a little see-through.
Wondering if anyone in this thread is using "Milestone ZaraZara" mat sleeves? I bought a pack for my new standard deck and they feel super nice. They're like the finish of Hyper Mats, but with the stiffness of Ultra Pro sleeves. The downsides are that they're very thick (my single sleeved deck looks double sleeved), not opaque and occasionally the corners bend really badly, but I've only had the last issue on 2-3 out of the hundred sleeves in the packet so far.
Anyone else experiencing a downgrade in quality of KMC Hyper Matts (Black)?
KMC Perfect fits are as great as the ones I brought before. In comparison, Perfect fits are tougher than Hyper Matts.
I'm looking into resleeving my Modern and Legacy decks. I've been using Ultra Pros with KMC inner sleeves and haven't had any issues with splitting or consistency within the batch of sleeves that I bought, I believe I got 200 of them in January and they were all the same size. The only issue I have with them is that they're a little tight for double sleeving. They're starting to get a bit sticky for shuffling now. Previous to those sleeves, I was using Ultra Pros without inner sleeves and again had no issues. Previous to those, I bought a pack of KMC Hyper Mat green and immediately discovered that using those sleeves would lead to playing with a marked deck because half of the sleeves were visibly shorter than the other half. This experience makes my somewhat reluctant to spend money on Hyper Mats.
My question is what people's recent experiences are with both KMC Hyper Mat and Dragon Shields as far as consistency and whether they double sleeve well.

I have my entire legacy collection and powered cubed in KMC Perfect fits + KMC hyper Mattes. I've never had miscut hyper mattes out of a TON of packs, which leads me to believe you just got a bad batch or something.
Switching over to KMC Hyper Mattes and Perfect Fits after using Dragonshield for a few years. What is the best place to purchase them? My LGS is overpriced at $10 for the sleeves and $8 for the perfect fits, so that's not really an option. I need about 400 of each.

Interestingly, the KMC pack I've bought is really rough on the edges, see pic:
this is from 2 packs I've bought from my LGS so it could possibly be a "bad" batch
I haven't had this issue with dragon shields since I've bought 2 packs of turqouise and 2 packs of matte red before:

Fusion is smooth like the old sleeves but the quality and cut length matches the newer sleeves. Turq/Copper have a slight texture to them.
I used Ultra Pro and Dragon Shield before but I have to say that KMC Hypermat is the best sleeve I ever used, specially the shuffle.
I use KMC perfect fit and KMC Hypermat for my deck and never had any problems.
