Any recommendations for the actual sleeves would be nice too. I'm leaning towards ultrapro because they are cheaper and the regular splitting I can deal with, the real issue is cards inevitably getting dirty or the corners bent. And ultra pro seems no worse in that regard, but again, being cheaper makes them better. Is there a sleeve that is less prone to getting dirty or its corners bent?
Speaking of sleeves, Wizards first produced official sleeves back in 2007. They were black backs with yellowish writing of "Magic: the Gathering" written on them. I found a picture of them, but if anyone knows a place that has any amount of sealed product of these sleeves, could you let me know? They were one of my favorite sleeves to use.

I don't think there is a place where you are going to buy bulk sleeves cheaper. I personally like the hyper mattes due to easy shuffling and the fact that they are durable. I don't like dragon shields because they get dirty real fast.
So I grabbed some KMC perfect fits because they came in packs of 100 and so far they fit in my crazy warhammer dragon shield clones and ultra pro matte's but jeebs what do you guys do to get all that air out. crimmeny @____@ I have to put 'em in small stacks of like 20 and rock the air out
I usually just carefully rock the air out and then fit them in containers that hold my decks snugly. After a while, it'll stop being a problem, and I'd rather some extra air than something that will actually damage my cards.
I've heard these are FINALLY going to come out this month. What a delay! Still interested to see what they are like, but I haven't seen them available anywhere yet. If anyone spots them on the shelves at their LGS, shout out that you saw, even if you don't buy.
Im using PC Whites. I had them when I was playing Yugioh, always loved the feel, and the smooth shuffle, and love them still for this game. They can get dirty fairly quickly (lasting 1-2 months), but thats the only complaint. Ive never split one in my life. I also have monster sized hands, to make that even more difficult.
thanks for the link tot he bulk place. Ive been looking for one. My store charges 8$ a pack for PCs. so Id be getting about half off.
I dunno if this is a new product but I saw "KMC strong hard" sleeves online the other day. Does anybody have any experience with these? How thick are they? Are they too thick to sleeve a deck, ie are they just for archiving your alphas? Or are they akin to dragon shields?

"Clear Sleeves that are 0.14mm thick and stiffer than regular sleeves. 72mm wide and will accomidate regular sleeves even with Character Guard sleeves. Use them to protect and to store or display your most valuable cards. Each pack contains 50 sleeves. Boxes contain 30 packs. Size 96 x 72mm and 0.14mm Thick"
oh wow, ok I just realized that their normal hypermats are 66mm. So is the idea to put your cards in perfect fits, then into hypermats, then into strong hards? Is there anyways to play a deck triple sleeved like this, or is this just for archiving?
Seems like the kind of thing that one guy at the store would have to show off his vintage deck in. Y'know, the one who gets all huffy when you point out he's never actually played with the deck.
I've triple sleeved a deck before, perfect fits into ultra pro's (why would you ever use hypermat's as the second sleeve?) into these sleeves Walmart occasionally sells that have no quality control and are pretty large. It resulted in a deck that was a nightmare to shuffle.
From having done it playing a deck that has to shuffle a lot (Melira Pod) I can honestly say that unless you hate yourself, just stay away from triple sleeves. It's something that only makes sense for archiving and even then you would be better off with a sleeve (or two for water proofing) inside a top loader.
honestly if I had the money to play vintage (or even modern) I would probably triple-sleeve with these lol
Triple sleeving is just excessive. You're making the deck bulkier and harder to shuffle for no added protective benefit. I have some pretty expensive Legacy decks and I'd never think double sleeving isn't enough to keep them from ever taking damage. Even water isn't going to get in past a double layer of sleeves unless you're intentionally trying to get it in there (and even then it'd be relatively difficult).
What is the closest equivalent to the old Japanese Yanoman sleeves? Bought boxes of Gunmetal, Shine Blue and Shine Purple which had me good for years but running low on stock. I really liked how the Yanoman sleeves were a bit longer to protect the tops of cards.
I've tried Ultra Pro and the art sleeves while looking nice are pretty horrible for durability. I had to get Dragon Shields once at a GP and the corners started getting messed up pretty quick. I've had Yanoman sleeves last for years but keep making new EDH decks and they wear out eventually.
I have some cheaper decks that I won't be double-sleeving, as does my partner.
What are some of the best options for single-sleeving? Dragon Shield (for example, Turquoise), say? I hear they let in very little air (and so it would go for anything else) at the top. So that would be a consideration.
For my doubles, I'm using KMC Perfect Size w/ KMC Hyper Mats. Happy with that combo... unless someone can oonvince me there's a better choice to be made!

Recently I used Dragon Shields with Perfect Size Sleeves inside and the thing is very nice.
I also have a pack of sleeves with leather-like back, but no idea which the brand is. they are very good too

Look to be for triple-sleeving valuables.
lol, the idea of a foiled triple sleeved edh deck with unhinged lands seems kinda cool to me...
