So, ever since Innistrad (or, one could argue, Zendikar), Magic has been making a concerted effort to create worlds with a very recognizable genre/thematic jumping off point that draws from culture as a whole.
What genre/theme do you think WotC is overlooking at the moment?
Personally, I'd love to see a magitech take on pulp sci-fi/weird science style stories. The kind where daring, two-fisted heroes fight telepathic gorillas on top of a city-sized war zeppelin.
I dunno if Doc Savage/Flash Gordon/whatever is... doable in a pure magic/magitek setting? Only because that means there's a reasonable explanation for things happening and there's a bizarre/random/fever dream element to stories like that. Credit to Guesswork for trying, though.
I want a West African world - Jamuraan cards in a Dominaria setting are nice but take us to Kinshala. Also, Viking Set is the long shortlist item I'm looking forward to.
I'd really love a Santorini influence on Theros. With all the beautiful Grecian beaches and islands we see, I am surprised that we haven't gotten more Islands reflecting those icy limestone cliffs and turquoise waters. The Steve Belledin island definitely captured that allure. And I could see how Raoule Vitale tried to capture Lalaria Beach on Skiathos. But I'm hoping to see Basic Lands that are less "Basic" next time. Feature some columned temples, Greek pottery, an ariel view of an Island similar to Santorini, maybe even Arixemthes as an Atlantis off in the distance of one Island, similar to Minamo in the Kamigawa Islands, representing Thassa's secret seas. I'd love adding more land mass to Theros and encompassing maybe Phoenicia/Lebanon and more Mediterranean countries too. Troy was in Turkey, and Tyre is in Lebanon (capital of Phoenicia). So no need to keep it limited to just three cities... they made that mistake even worse on Amonkhet.
Overall, I have ALWAYS wanted a Mediterranean plane, especially Grecian, so I'm hyped about tapping into more of that potential and going all out with it, rather than holding back. I felt the original Theros did hold back too much, especially in the romance and tragic romance front (at least on the cards) and it held back a lot on Legendary, Legendary matters, and Enchantments, Enchantment matters. Let's see some Sagas showing Theros myths. Let's see some lands inspired by Greece like the Adam Paquette Forest and Steve Belledin Island.
I said this before and I'll say it again Fairy tale world. Mix of Grimm/ Perrault/ Anderson with Disney tropes and themes. GIMMIE WIZARDS

YES!
Do you want it to be an entirely new plane, or a previously undiscovered part of Lorwyn? I think they may need to do it as a new plane sadly, and I suppose leave Lorwyn as a "backwater, relatively unknown natural sanctuary of Celtic Myth" plane.

New plane. I like Lorwyn/Shadowmorr as they are such as the tribes and the day/night transformation and don't want they forced into tropes of fairy tales they mesh with. While I'm not hugely anti-human as people here are I do like the idea of Lorwyn being a human free since *realistically* there should be planes that are human free in the magic multiverse.

I would also like to see a sci-fi type theme. Not exactly how you described it. But yeah sci-fi.
Underground world. Preferably focusing on Enemy Colours to make it even more wacky.

Prison World: where the entirety of the Plane’s purpose is to keep and contain interplanar threats like Planeswalkers, and other interplanar dangers. Except Eldrazi. Been there, done that.

Wizards. listen. The Vorthos community will await the consequences of the Eldrazi Titans' deaths/sealing. We will keep the watch.
