Today in his article "Making Magic" Maro said that the next new plane we visit will be something players have been asking about for a long time, what do you thin this could be? My personal guess (hope) is that this means we're finally getting an under-water plane, but I could also see Muraganda (dinosaur world) and Kaldheim (Nordic world) as strong candidates. I don't use twitter or instagram so I have to say I don't really know what had been frequently requested. What do you think is the most likely setting for a plane that "players have been asking about for a long time"?

MaRo recently posted a poll on his tumblr blog asking players what new planes they would like to see. Here is the link to the results.
The top 3 results are Egypt at #1, followed by a pirate world and a Norse setting. I'm sure all three of these wants have been around for quite a while so my money would be on one of these three or a dinosaur world which is #5 on the list.

Oh cool! Kind of sad to see that an underwater world isn't in the top ten but an Egyptian-themed plane would definitely be awesome, and would potentially make storyline sense since the next new plane will likely be about Liliana pursuing a demon, and Razaketh appears vaguely Egyptian. Thanks for the link.

I can jive w/ an egyptian theme. Tombs and deserts and treasure make for some interesting card speculation, and that's not even including if it'll have gods.
Personally, I'd like a water-world; not underwater, but a plane that's comprised of mostly vast ocean (75-95%), with mysteries and sea monsters abound.

Also of note, we have kaladesh in 4th,with steampunk in 8th. so that is a possiblity.
Norse and Viking are both in the top 10.
As is Dinosaur and Muraganda.
My money is on one of those 3, or egyptian. I would like to see egyptian gods. They should still be enchantment creatures i think, but with a different apotheosis condition. Maybe something to do with graves, or unique for each one.
The more people talk about it the more excited I'm becoming for an Egyptian plane, there's so many cool angles to develop on. I think I'd be happy with a water-plane, and Egyptian plane, Muraganda, or Valla. I'm definitely interested in planes like Khaladesh, just not as much as the other options I've outlined. And regardless of what plane we go to I'm down for squirrels, even on the water-plane

It should to be the encient Egyptian themed plane, because Lili has to show up eventually and that demon looks too damn like a pharaoh in design.
Personally, i am a bit tired of theme planes. It seems as though it is so easy to make them work. The basic ideas are already there for you, and you just translate them mechanically.
I would love to see Kaladesh if possible. Though, having Alara be the next return set, it would make it seem too identical to Esper. That's all specualtion of course.
If it's egyptian, Dack should show up and steal something powerful from a tomb. Also I could see it being Ashiok's home world for some reason, not sure why.

Nah, Kaladesh is pretty distinct from Esper. Kaladesh is Indian-themed for one, and it's much more a clockwork/steampunk kind of artifact vibe. Esper is about halfway to Phyrexia (considering its mechanics were taken from the original plan for New Phrexia), it's very geometric and the focus is on the Etherium for self-improvement. They're even different mechanically, Esper is about the fusion of artifice and creatures, and has a ton of colored artifacts to represent that. Kaladesh is about artifice to create tools that are useful. Bsaically, Esper is about using Etherium to improve on life, and Kaladesh is about using clockwork artifice as tools or technology. And we've really only seen the RU side of Kaladesh, we don't know what the rest of the plane is like.

I think Dack is in a holding pattern until we return to Theros. Ashiok does have a vaguely Egyptian look about him, though. Or at least Stargate-Egyptian, lol.
I definitely want to see Egyptian and Norse blocks. Not so sure about a pirate world, I can't see it being very magic. And I remember them saying a Muraganda/Dinosaur theme doesn't have too much design space, so I don't think they are eager to make it.
On a side note, MaRo confirmed yesterday that dwarves are in fact showing up within the current 7-year plan. That's the greatest thing I took from his article.
Personally, I want to see more fairytales and go the full brother's grim, but Egypt sounds like a nice diversion. My guess is it would be flavor driven as they got enough mechanics in the game already to cycle through that there isn't much point of making new ones. Heck, I just accidentally mentioned one in this posting with Cycling. Egypt is another God King setting like Theros block, though. The aesthetics and gods are different, but there will be a lot of cross over similarities.

I'd love a nordic setting but please without Norse Mythology (so no gods and Valhalla please). There is more than enough Scandinavian folklore with cool beings such as trolls, Nøkken and other cool water-creatures, elves, ... and the list goes on. This would be PERFECT for a dark-fairy tale world. PLEASE WotC, PLEASE make this.

Whats actually been said is that the vanilla theme doesn't have much design space, not the dinosaur theme or the world of Muraganda.
Egyptian Plane!! Too bad we can't have Pyramids reprint.
Why not? They could always just make a better, new version of it called Great Pyramids.
I hope Egyptian plane is the next one. I've been dying for that theme in MTG. I don't think making gods is necessary though. Ancient Greeks believed the Egyptian gods were their own gods in disguise. It would be neat if a planeswalker from Theros, say one of the old champions travelled to Egyptian World and started a religion there based on worship of the Theros gods that do not actually exist on Egyptian world. So Egyptian World's version of the Theros gods are presented in their art and hieroglyphics, but don't exist there or have cards. Would be a nice way to circumvent having too many gods - because we have Theros, then Egyptian World, then eventually Return to Theros. If Egyptian gods are viewed as critical to the theme, they could always skip making new Theros god cards for the revisit, instead simply featuring the gods in card art (like Thassa's Ire) because having a second round of gods in Theros is equally unnecessary IMO. Not that I wouldn't ADORE new versions of Thassa, Heliod and Ephara, but you know. In the event gods are created in Egyptian World, I hope they're just a cycle of monochromic gods - River/Nile, Desert, Oasis, Underworld, Sun.
I would like to point out that MaRo also hinted on Dwarves making a comeback.
I can't think of a single better plane to make a return of Dwarves other than a Norse/Viking World. Norse/Viking World is always a huge request, and considering the success of Theros block, that seems likely. Egypt Block also seems pretty likely, but I can't think of any way of making Egypt without dipping into the Graveyard, Curses or Enchantments matters, as it's a huge part of the Egyptian flavor. But we just got out of Theros, and Innistrad will have Graveyard matters as well, so I doubt they'll be doing Egyptian Block so soon.
Norse/Viking world has plenty more to explore, so my money's 100% on that.

Thankfully I like both egypt-land concept and Norse/viking-land concept. So I am happy. Though I do have to agree, the graveyard would play a big role in an Egypt themed set. Though I am curious what colors the Osiris expy would be.
