At the end of this week's Uncharted Realms, Sarkhan disappeared in a rather ambiguous way.
My theory: Sarkhan got sucked back to the "Present" where instead of facing a giant pile of bones he sees a giant hedron prison.
Ugin has been trapped in the hedron prison (a la Eldrazi) for the last 1280 years and for all intents and purposes he might as well have been dead. Dragons are still extinct, Bolas still thinks he's won, History still happened.
We already know Sorin is at the nexus (or nearby) and he knows the secret to unlocking a hedron prison. Sarkhan accidentally opened the hedrons once too. All the need is a third planeswalker and some colorless magic.
Enter Narset
There has been speculation that Narset has a latent planeswalker spark due to her visions of other worlds, and further speculation that that spark ignited when she was stabbed by Zurgo, so she could be the third planeswalker needed to open the Hedrons.
She has been studying Ugin's runes and could very well "accidentally" cast one of the colorless spells that Ugin had etched into a wall somewhere. Or maybe Sarkhan passed his spellcraft check and figured out Ghostflame when he saw Chandra cast it. Or maybe Sorin figured it out while hanging out with Ugin forever ago. Either way we don't have to worry about the colorless magic.
1. Not a prison, a healing cocoon.
2. We've already seen alternate Tarkir, and dragons are still a thing. In fact, the end of this week's story showed the dragon storms actually intensify.
3. We don't know if Narset still got stabbed in the new timeline. In fact, odds are good she didn't.
It might not technically be a prison, but Ugin is trapped inside it and can't get out on his own. Since it was created from a shard of the Zendikari hedrons, it's fair to assume the cocoon works the same way: three 'walkers and ghostflame. It might be simpler than you think, though, supersteve542. Sorin, Sarkhan, and Narset are the three, but remember that Narset is (or was, at least) a Jeskai master and has probably mastered all four fires ... including ghostfire. Of course, this assumes that Narset still exists in the new timeline, that she's a walker, that she's still a Jeskai master, etc etc etc

That's speculation. There's actually no evidence to suggest he CAN'T just because he hasn't.

And yet it only took one walker to activate it this time. Don't look for correlation beyond what is empirically observable. This is not the Eye of Ugin's master hedron.

Well we've seen about thirty seconds of the new Tarkir. I don't think the storms are intensifying, Sarkhan just notices them return when he saves Ugin.

This. The storms simply continue to happen (probably centered on the Crucible of the Spirit Dragon instead of anywhere in the plane following Ugin's flight), there's no indication of them being stronger or weaker.

To be fair though, the same Hedron System managed to keep three Eldrazi Titans sealed for over 6000 years, and potentially a lot more if Nissa didn't intervene. But then again, it wasn't specified if the Brood Lineage Hedron System (Which the Hedron piece is the one Sarkhan had) operated on the same system mechanics as the Titan Hedron System.
But either way, I doubt Ugin foresaw the Mending, so if he didn't free himself prior to the mending, so there's a possibility he effectively jailed himself post-mending.
But regardless whether he can or cannot break out of the Hedrons, I think it's likely Sorin who would be the one breaking him out this time round - pretty sure Sorin of all walkers would be able to recognize the Hedron System and figure it out - unless he thinks its another Eldrazi Ugin sealed on Tarkir, that is.
Actually, on the note of Sorin, I seem to recall he came to Tarkir looking for Ugin due to a vision from a seer on another plane. (Or something like that, please someone correct me if I'm wrong.) I just remember that when he found Ugin dead, he cursed the seer or sent him here for having lied to him. Maybe the vision hadn't been a lie, but a vision of the new timeline. I wonder if that will be mentioned in the new Tarkir storyline. There may be something to Sorin helping Ugin out of his coccoon. Time will tell. (No pun intended.)

I read it as being yet another 'system', actually.
It was a piece of Ugin's shelter on another world, a piece of Ugin's edifice that he had built for himself. The Eye of Ugin was a place for containment, yes, a place to concentrate on the spell that contained the Eldrazi—but it was also a place for recuperation, a safehold in a world torn by powerful forces.
Ugin himself designed everything about the hedrons (Nahiri was more like the builder and assembler, while Ugin was the engineer behind the project). This part says the hedrons from the Eye also had a shelter-and-heal function, to protect Ugin from Zendikar's wild mana when he came to visit the plane.
Writing this made me more inclined to believe that Nahiri herself may be also insider her own 'hedron cocoon', waiting.
It was also our assumption, though, that planeswalkers who visited Tarkir sometime between 1280 years ago and now could experience time-travel-altered events and act differently on other planes due to those changed events — essentially, that planeswalkers were a way to transmit time-travel changes outside of Tarkir.
Do we know of any Planeswalkers that visited Tarkir during those 1,280 years? Sarkhan was obviously there (unless they retcon his existence). Does this mean that Sarkhan would never have been under the influence of Bolas (if retconned out of existence, or just by not being as impressed by him, since dragons still live on Tarkir)? And if so, who would have been the third PW that popped the Eye of Ugin?

According to Doug "Sarkhan" was involved in all of the things Sarkhan was involved in. We'll learn more later.
I have to wonder if theyre still linked. The hedron sarkhan used to cocoon ugin came from zendikar. Where ob-nixilis is working towards getting his spark (which will result in zendikars destruction. And also possibly the prison on the eldrazi/ugin simultaneously...)
I really doubt that any story element leading up to KTK will change at all. Sarkhan is going to go that because ugin is going to be calling him, Sorin is going to go there because he is looking for ugin. If I had to guess Narset will still be the khan of the Jeskai but since they are UW now she will be the new UW Planeswalker to replace Venser. If they stick to the whole 3 walkers and ghostfire well there you go. They all have motivations for releasing Ugin.

SonofaBith - Wizards was so excited about making the packaging for Modern Masters 2 recyclable, they decided to make most of the rares and all but 1 of the UC's recycle-bin ready too. Convenient!
