I would love a walker like that. They show up and everyone is like, "where'd you come from!?" And they just look at me and say, "I'm from a completely different world! I can go from world to world and do stuff!." And what they do depends on their color alignment.
Black- Tries to enslave the new plane through making a cult to themselves
Green- works to preserve the worlds wild places and whups ass if they get destroyed
White- helps the people with their problems, heals them, gives them spiritual guidance
Blue- educates them about the nature of mana and the multiverse
Red- uh... Blows stuff up?
Lol, yeah I guess that if any of them decided to be open about where they came from that's what they'd do, I was just doing it off the top of my head real quick. Haha, but seriously what else would a red walker do if they were open about their identity as an outsider?
Red that doesthis sort ofstuff. Maybe a viashino? They liked tinkering with old Thran relics, so there's some kind of ingenuity there. Plus there's a precedent for viashino tinkering with spellcraft/magecraft. It's a bit different from Koth, Tibalt, and the many faces of Chandra.
Why not just have a planeswalker that uses a homunculus as a familiar?
I'd like that idea. Geralf had a homunculus assistant (no this is nit me saying make Geralf ascend. He's dead ain't he?) so it's not like they haven't had homunculi be in a supporting roll. The walker would probably be blue. Maybe blue black
Saying that Nissa and Sorin aren't white because they aren't human is a cop out. Both very clearly belong to a recognizable human ethnic group. If Nissa had African skin tone and features no one would hesitate to identify her as black despite her species. The fact that her ears are slightly longer and she lives in the trees doesn't change the fact that she's obviously Caucasian. My comment on Ajani was more a joke than anything.
However, I absolutely stand by my comment about Koth being the only unambiguously non-white 'walker. I've heard arguments for Tezzeret, Domri, and Sarkhan's ethnicities, and while they might all be considered canon it doesn't matter if depictions of them don't reflect it! We only have one image of Domri, nowhere near enough to say without a doubt that he's meant to be Asian. We have quite a lot of images of Sarkhan, but they seem to vary by the artist on what ethnicity his features resemble. I'll grant that on Sarkhan the Mad he does look Asian, but that really doesn't hold true in his other appearances. He looked pretty darn white in the Enter the Eldrazi comic, and like several posters have mentioned his name is eastern European. As for Tezzeret, I think the majority of the comments on his ethnicity are mainly due to his hair; having dreadlocks does not make someone black or biracial.
... And if Chandra is supposed to be Indian than I'll eat my hat. She's a light-skinned woman with red hair >_>

Even if they were all "whites" they'd all be starkly different ethnicities of white people, so what is the problem?
I'd like to see more expensive powerhouse planeswalkers like Karn and Bolas. It seems like everything is always an attempted Standard plant, let's see some casual plants.
I'd also like to see some oldwalkers printed on cards just for fun, maybe in a special set because with them practically all dead it wouldn't make canonical sense for them to be in Standard.

Okay, first off, you need to realize that not all asians look like each other. To blanket a group as diverse as the eastern asian cultures as all having the same features, that is honestly a bit offensive.
Sarkhan's features do match the Tibetan and Mongolian subset of the Asiatic peoples. His epicanthic fold isn't as pronounced as in some Asian subraces, but the rest of his features match.
As for Tezzeret, I think the majority of the comments on his ethnicity are mainly due to his hair; having dreadlocks does not make someone black or biracial.
We're told straight out that he's a mutt. But more, a lot of his facial features aren't classically Caucasoid. There is more to race than skin color, but even then, he's darker than say... Jace. Of course it ends up going all skewed when Agent of Bolas came up.
Don't make it more complicated than it needs to be.
Venser teleported his soul, including the spark and (Venser was hoping) the oil immunity, into Karn, using his heart as a medium.
You know damn well that wasn't what was intended nor approached as.
Domri and Sarkhan are both meant to be Asian.
I'm... still really really iffy on Domri. The lighting on that piece destroys a LOT of his features. Even then, as a Gruul, he's likely a mutt. And I mean that a LOT more diversely than with Tezzeret. There's very literally probably some goblin in his background.
Yeah... the Gruul had a bit... larger a gene pool than most Ravnicans.
I like to imagine that Chandra is Indian or something along those lines due to her deep tan and name. Ashiok has a similarly Indian name (or so Google tells me)
Chandra is DEFINITELY not Indian. Her deep tan is... actually a tan. Or reddening because of her constant exposure to smoke and fire.

Word. They need to stretch costs a lot more because I am SICK of the "Golden Standard" of 3-5 cost range.
Also agreed. There are a lot of subsets of "white"
Re Nissa: Honestly, I don't think she's white. If I had to choose anything, I'd say she was Mediterranean. She has a deep olive skin tone and classically greek features.
Freyalise was not exactly a non-arrogant green walker. Quite the opposite. Quite the only time she was not behaving arrogantly was moments before her death, when she saw the errors of her ways up to that point and sacrificed herself to close the rift above Skyshroud, essentially redeeming herself.
And maybe during the final moments of Apocalypse, before the Legacy weapon activation killed Yawgmoth, who was encroaching on the whole Dominaria including Llanowar.
Well that's not entirely true. When she was a member of the Ruby clan, she wasn't what I would call arrogant. Of course that was pre-ascension...
And pre-revisionist
But yeah, I was thinking the exactly same thing when writing this post. But there aren't many besides you who could make this argument, so I took the risk.

Yeah, most people don't even realize she was a half-elf rather than a full blooded elf.
Which makes all her crazy racial supremacy repartee HILARIOUS.
This may not apply depending on your headcanon, but for my Vorthosian sanity, I want the "Wizard's Tower" to be represented, perhaps as some sentient Planeswalking facility filled with spell books and other such utilities to experience Magic from across the multiverse.

Since when is Domri asian,
Since Brady told us that Richard Whitters (Wotc Creative Member and production artist) drew him to be so.
and since when is Chandra tan?
Much of her art depicts her as such, and I seem to remember the Chandra novel corroborating as much.
You know damn well that wasn't what was intended nor approached as.
I don't actually. Never read the book.
I ordered a copy off Amazon but got a trashy romance novel instead. Too lazy to fix.
I'll admit that I'm applying headcanon here.

Wow, this has gotten WAAAAAAY more interest (and tangent ridden) than I expected. That's kind of cool but back to walker types we'd like to see...
I had this thought today and it was based around the idea that White is supposed to be the most defensive color (even more so than blue according to MaRo at one point) but we almost never see it. I thought a White walker who was a pacifist might be kind of cool. But a pacifist in the sense that he can't really attack and his magic focuses almost exclusively on barriers, shields and redirection.
etc etc.
The only thing in blue I can think of related to shielding is Dissipation Field. Mostly blue is concerned with not getting involved in damage in the first place rather than protecting against it.

Notice how I said, "supposed" to be in my post? Also, I pointed out it was something MaRo said at one point in an article of his. Even the wiki backs me up.
From the wiki
Total protection: White is an inherently defensive color, various protective mechanics supports defensive strategies. White's protective abilities ranging from universal protection abilities (colors or creature types), defensive combat abilities (flanking, exalted) and global creature boosting. Examples: Bathe in Light, Spare from Evil, Benalish Cavalry, Aven Squire, Glorious Anthem.
Total defense: Above and beyond the degree to which White seeks options to expedite combat, it has every ability to stop attackers and other aggressors in their tracks. It will punish anything which causes - or even threatens to cause - pain. In this way, White magic sends a clear message, and it is that those who dare to inflict harm, will soon meet their maker. Examples: Chastise, Neck Snap, Reciprocate, Retaliate.
This is the kind of thing that is the main justification for a shield wielding, defensive white walker. Another way of looking at this guy might be a "turtle up" character who focuses on pacifism and making the opponent's aggression irrelevant by protection, barriers and shields.
I'd like a male plant mage. Somebody who pumps out saplings perhaps? He's probably be Mono G or perhaps G/W G/B depending on his circumstance.
Plant magic would be highly versatile both defensively and offensively. One minute your saving a desolate plane from starvation, the next you're planting a tree- through somebody's head.

That's a good one. Less like Garruk's beast summoning or Nissa's Elf mustering but sort of like a druid. Cool. The sort of druidic concept's been mentioned here a couple of times.
If you won't take the wiki then take the article by Mark Rosewater. Also, if you look at the article for white and the one for blue and compare them you'll find that the word "defensive" shows up in the article about White 7 times. It doesn't show up once in blue's article.
Thing is, that Blue is the most reaktive colour. It tries to disrupt the enemy and as such has a less defensive stance than white. I guess it's merely a matter of semantics.
