The big villian though is Lasav of the Dimir guild, not exactly sure on his scheme although he has been manipulating the guilds to go at each others throats by disguising as a member in each guild.
No one has stopped him yet, though Jace knowing his secret is the closest to besting him. No set up for future blocks yet, and Part 1 cliffhanger was Jace on the verge of death by Varolz and Part 2 was Jace on the verge of death by 2 Vampires one of them being Mirko Vosk and the other being a vampire who disguised as Kavin, Jace's research partner.
No one has won the Maze yet, Niv-Mizzet had just announced it right near the end of Part 2.
Thats all the answers to the questions i currently know of.

That wasn't a vampire disguised as Kavin--that *was* Kavin, turned into a vampire by Vosk.

Whoa! I interpreted that one wrong, but... Vedalken Vampire? ... would it be a pale shade of blue or... OH! I know Voldemort looking. But I'm glad I got a majority of what I put up correct.

I want that type line so hard, but they WON'T BLOODY DO IT. They won't do anything with Vampires as an affliction to other races.
Vampiric Dragon and Vampire Hounds fall under the "if the name is a creature type, the creature must have that type" rule from the Great Creature Type Update. See also Goblin Wizard,Thrull Wizard, Metathran Soldier, Spike Soldier (!), Pious Warrior, Putrid Warrior.

Okay, that's true of hound, but not for dragon who was typed as "Vampire Dragon" in its initial appearance in Odyssey.
Vampiric Hounds is kind of weird, because in the past they've not typed creatures as certain things if a word in their name was being used as an adjective (off the top of my head Vulturous Zombie is a zombie with vulture like tendencies, not actually a vulture), so that they would give it the type vampire indicates to me that they intended them to be vampires.
Though the Grand Creature Type Update is far from perfect mind...
Who's read the old books and can tell me if the hounds were in them and in whether or not they were vampires?
I don't like the writing but I'll go through the motions... but first I'll explain how I feel like the more Doug wrote this story to fill it out, the more he needed to write. Like, the more answers he gave the more questions there became. Anyway, the story is pretty simple, partly lame.
The racers are assembled. Niv creates Melek who doesn't take any place in the story because jealous Ral destroys him at the starting line and takes over as Izzet Champion. That's worth a few words. Ral Zarek is an *******, an envious, jealous, selfish, arrogant, greedy dude. His obsession with power and ambition is almost Black. He wants to win the maze and have the prize all to himself.
But there is no "prize". The real trick of the Maze is that Supreme Verdict will fall upon the tenth district of Ravnica if any less than all of the Champions make it to Maze's End. They have to run through and survive gates to do this (which each gate gets maybe almost a page or so each).
Jace has this ongoing relationship with Emmara Tandris going on, so he helps her with the maze (He planeswalked to get out of last novel's cliffhanger). By the way, Lazav was exposed as the original champion, Calomir, so Trostani reluctantly names Emmara with no replacement.
Emmara has little power, so Jace has to walk her the whole way. Jace gets taken to trial at the Azorius Gate for his "crimes" earlier in the series, and let off for some reason (oh you're guilty hurr durr we'll release you on $0 bail until we can have an official trial). It doesn't matter because he catches up to Emmara soon after.
But Ral's pouty self is jealous Niv likes him better and attacks him. He has no choice but to tell Emmara that he is a planeswalker, and that of course blows her mind and pisses her off that he was hiding something like that. She's reluctant to even believe this silliness. So she goes on ahead while Ral and Jace almost have an awesome battle. But Jace runs away to the next gate after Ral tears him a new one. (BTW, Ral won the race a few times over... not that there's anything "to win".)
Here's the thing. Jace learns a new spell and uses it three times in this book. 1) He can gather the feelings of a group. 2a) He can input any kind of feeling into a group. 2b) He can input the feelings of a group into each member's mind of that group.
So when Jace catches up with the Champions at Maze's End he sees them scrambling and tension rising amongst them due to Lazav's trickery playing them all against each other (he seems to prefer for no reason specified that this destruction take place). Jace forces empathy upon the group, and so they know the thoughts of each other and come together and have an understanding.
This triggers Jace as some sort of ultimate mediator of worlds and the power of Azor is transferred to him. Essentially, a new Guildpact is created, and Jace is the Guildpact: if any issue arises between the guilds, he has ultimate say on what exactly happens to them. The entire destiny of Ravnica is at his command, and he hopes to bring peace among them with this power. If he dies, the Guildpact is no more once again.
Anyway, Bond Girl Emmara shows up and they have a few words of love and all this but NOPE, doesn't matter, a Bond Girl is a Bond Girl, they're not allowed to be relevant in the next movie. So Emmara being Selesnya apparently is torturing her that she can't tell them about planeswalking. So Jace has to choose between erasing her memories and keeping secrets from her (giving up the girl) or keeping planeswalking a secret to the world (saving the world?). I guess that is unless Ral or any other PWer ever peeps about it sometime. Yeah... Jace chooses giving up the girl. THE END.
So basically Jace is now the GUILDPACT?? That is a mind bend and a half right there. So what is he now going to keep everyone on Ravinica peaceful by forcing them to feel Warm and Fuzzy feelings about each other the whole time by using his new ability. And did Niv Set the maze up because he cares about the guilds and the people or did he do it to gain that power for himself and it was ganked from him because of Jace, and Ral being an absolute Asshat?
Who turned out to be the Big Villain this time? What was their big scheme?
Who stopped them and how? Was anything set up for future blocks? Any cliffhangers?
Who won the Maze race?
I'm sure I'm just overlooking an existing thread somewhere. If so, can someone just kindly point me toward it?
Thanks!

That isn't a disguise. The Dimir got their hands on Kavin and put him in the same cell as Mirko Vosk.

They do it occasionally;
Vampire Hounds
Vampiric Dragon
Vampire's Bite < clearly a merfolk
Irini Sengir < probably too old to still count as precedent

They were enormous super hounds that ate flesh, but they didn't drink blood.
They were what happened to people who displeased the evincar.
So nothing supernatural about them, then?
