Correction, there was only one Sphinx that we know of today. A lot of the stories and myths from the era have been lost to time. For example, we only have two parts of the Iliad/Odyssey complex (out of at least nine parts). We lost a hell of a lot of info in the collapse of the Roman empire and the during the dark ages.
It makes sense. And certainly far better prospect.
Unfortunately, that runs into the usual problem of "this is a game about conflict." The Theros pantheon is already missing a god or goddess of love. Which is a shame, since it'd be a very good chance to show alternate interpretations of Act of Treason effects.
I'd love an Adonis card. MTG is limited in gorgeous men. Especially now that Venser is dead. That leaves us.... just Jace.
I dunno, I'm sure some people think Jace is attractive. He has that anime, Final Fantasy hero kind of appeal.
As for the Adonis card, it would be a shame if they didn't do it if only because it was so prevalent in Greek art. And I think/hope most people wouldn't be threatened by it.

It's fun to see how the "macho" MtG crowd will react to that.

That does depend on who you ask. My girlfriend has voiced the opinion that Ral and Gideon are both very attractive.
I'm so glad that Magic doesn't like their male cards to be androgynous wimps. So, so glad.
First violently pissing people off in regards to the color pie, now machism? You're such a sympathetic character[/sarcasm]
This post crosses the line into flaming. It's okay to disagree, but there are constructive ways to disagree without flaming.
