Actually Rakdos just wants to do what he wants to do. He is the epitome of the colors of Passion and Ambition. However, this color combo also has a disdain for rules and likes mayhem, and the Gateless will sure cause mayhem...it might just be mayhem that is also a nuisance for Rakdos.
One thing I don't understand... why is the movement called the "Gateless" rather than the "Guildless"?
The focus in RTR was a return to the guilds, and the gates were both minor and as far as I could tell, unexplained. How are they suddenly important enough to name your movement after them, and more importantly, why is this a good name for a movement against the guilds by the guildless?
All the references to Gateless in the flavor text of the recently revealed cards is bothering me :/
The reason why they took that name is because the Gateless have chosen to stage protests in front of gates of the various guilds, as seen on Martial Law.
It's similar to the Occupy Wall Street movement being named as such even though a lot of them weren't at Wall Street.
Anyways, it was mentioned in one of the flavor articles, but I seem to have lost the reference.
Aside from all that, the Gateless don't represent all of the guildless, and if they called themselves the Guildless, it might cause undesired harm to befall innocent bystanders.

Well this is news to me (and I'm starting to see implications). Do you have any further references for this distinction?

There was a source somewhere during the first run of previews in RtR, but I can't find it now. I wanted to believe it was part of the Walker guides, but it wasn't where I thought.
Might be under the Azorius one.

There was a brief mention in Ravnica, Then and Now, just a one-line throwaway reference. I think that was the first time we heard the term Gateless, and they're referred to as a "splinter group".
Many thanks to DNC at Heroes of the Plane Studios
