I'm wondering whether Kyodai's announcement of the kami electing the new emperor every single time actually led to the kami honestly re-electing a new emperor every time the old, mortal emperor dies or whether that was just a cover-up and an excuse for re-electing forms of the same immortal emperor over and over...or just electing one immortal emperor and watching as the mortals never get another emperor after the one who ended the Shattered States era and founded the Imperials ever again.
(I'm doubtful how much Michiko, as a Sister of Flesh and Spirit, would like changing her looks and name between emperor votes for her, though.)
And because the kami elects the emperor, the mortals would never know if the new candidate would be fair to both sides, consider s/he loses power the moment s/he loses favor with Kyodai. Can a leader truly rule for the benefit of everyone, if those who backed him/her disapproved? This is like election in real world with candidates supported by major $ will more likely win out... but will have to repay the debt during the term. Political favor is NEVER free.
And this merge gate thing: WotC's intention to bleed Phyrexia into every planes is pretty evident. Kaldheim's plane/sub-plane, and now merge gate of different realms, the big P is studying alright.
Also, since Kami are merging with machine bodies, wouldn't that potentially give Phyrexians power over powerful spirits as well? Phyrexians aren't known for their study on spirits/souls, this may change.
I didn’t know the Kirin (the legednary spirits that look like horses) had a big story
oh this one explains why the orochi (snakes) don't have legs anymore
(The sacrificed them and 2 arms for the Kirin’s help)
The story about how Orochi losing limbs is rather... unconvincing. I can see the appearance change as an artistic decision so Orochi could fit in with snake tribes on other planes (not to mention less headache for artists), but they could've thought of a better reason than "Thanks to kami, miracles happened," and kami demanding "a simpler form" as a sacrifice is way too convenient for this aesthetic change. Nevertheless, I'm always happy to see more kirins.
Seems that power and electricity are generated directly via drawing magic from the spirit realm. Supplementary to Clarke's Third Law: Sufficiently advanced magic is indistinguishable from technology. Also kind of heartwarming that Boseiju is doing all it can to remain the highest point in the city so that people don't forget about where all of this is coming from.
Also, love all the different art styles for the sagas!
Oh, so the Leon Tukker art wasn't for a Kodama after all?
I personally find Kamigawa's discovery of electricity being put in "the Modern Age" being too unnervingly similar to the real world's timeline regarding electricity and power lines. I would have appreciated Kamigawa going high-tech centuries earlier than us (e.g. 500 Kamigawa years ago). I guess that 500-years-ago figure is still a possibility, but the authors and narrators have sure implied that possibility poorly.
This might also suggests that we will see similar "magic -> electricity" technology in Streets of New Capenna, consider it's mafia gang war setting. Wanna be it's a large demon they imprisoned in a power plant? (like Cap Au Diable in City of Heroes)
I love both presentations of Boseiju here, though I thought it and the cityscape should switch colors in The Modern Age.
Boseiju, seeing the skyscraper getting taller than it: And I took that personally.

Ok that’s it I’m calling it now tezzert made a deal with phyrexians he offer the blueprint for the planar bridge if he’s the father of machines and I don't care about the red instead of blue thing.
And those neon colored vials that’s probably the world tree elixir from kaldheim
Yeah, from this point forward, forget putting Jin-Gitaxias discussion in spoiler tags: Episode 2 already has a picture of him.
It would be hilarious if we never learn the emperor's or the Wanderer's name, and the Wanderer forever goes planeswalker subtype-less on all her cards, including her probably inevitable card in this set. Episode 1 sounds like it's leaning in this direction by never referring to the emperor by name...but it's possible that we get a wham name reveal in tomorrow's episodes from the Wanderer's point of view. If the emperor's name is revealed to be an anagram of Michiko (e.g. Kochimi, Komichi, Chimiko), I'll immediately get suspicious.
The emperor is revealed to have had white hair as a child in one of the Episode 1 pictures, so she's (probably) not Azusa (unless Azusa reincarnated, and I cannot eliminate the possibility that Michiko reincarnated).
Huh, Kaito and the emperor are roughly the same age. Yikes, Tezzeret attacking a 16-year-old emperor...
Seems that Tameshi (the Soratami from Kaito's origin story) and Tezzeret have met before, and it's heavily implied that Jin-Gitaxias is already barking orders in Kamigawa in Episode 2.
The Wanderer consistently not wanting to reveal her face in earlier Wizards works (e.g. War of the Spark-era), even to the point of wearing a golden mask, is definitely reminding me of the Fate series, where your opponents can exploit knowing several of your abilities, strengths, and weaknesses if they know you're a famous enough historical, folkloric, or mythological figure (e.g. make sure to take away King Arthur's scabbard from Arthur; the tales say that confers immortality to the holder). ...Yeah, the Wanderer has a fair chance of not wanting to reveal she's emperor of Kamigawa, even by merely revealing her face and eyes, especially since Tezzeret probably caught what her face looks like the first time he attacked her.
Yeah, from this point forward, forget putting Jin-Gitaxias discussion in spoiler tags: Episode 2 already has a picture of him.

that’s what it looks like to me
and on top of that the wanderer is really scared on what Tezzeret could do now that he’s no longer under bolas control. (She feels Tezzeret is even worse than bolas)
Tezzeret is implied to have attacked Kyodai and the emperor in the same incident, and this is what Kyodai is described as:
Kaito had never laid eyes on Kyodai before. The guardian spirit of Kamigawa only spoke through the emperor—channeled herself through the emperor in a way no one else could ever experience. Not without the great kami's blessing, which was only meant to be given upon the emperor's death.
The kami was enormous, with hundreds of golden, human-sized arms forming her belly and limbs. Gold spheres trailed along the fans at her back, with a large black one embedded in her forehead. With a pointed mouth like a dragon, three masks lined Kyodai's face. They represented Michiko Konda—the first emperor to channel with Kyodai.
If "channelling with Kyodai" is how they're interpreting "Sisters of Flesh and Spirit" now, and no extras are given later to explain the earlier lore from Wizards, I'm outta here.
Less important ones:
Episode 1's imperial mochi treats being likely references to the crescent moon kami Mochi is cute:
...where round pieces of blue mochi sat in uniform rows, each decorated with a smiling face and small, yellow eyes shaped like crescent moons.
So Kaito and his sister Eiko were orphaned at a relatively young age, their parents killed by radiation poisoning, and Kaito and Eiko are fraternal twins.
Kaito also doesn't seem to like imperial rules much as a child (a foreshadowing of his part-black planeswalker card, maybe?).
Kaito also developed his roof-climbing, wall-climbing, and even building-scaling mega parkour skills as a child just by sneaking into places and needing to make quick getaways. Well, that's a way to justify mad ninja skills.
Kaito not only befriended but also trained with the emperor of Kamigawa as a sparring partner when they were both children.
Kaito had a chance meeting with the Futurist Katsumasa before the emperor got attacked. ...It's been at least 10 years since the emperor got attacked.
Kaito actually did befriend Tameshi, not just know him as an acquaintance and then never meet him again.
I should have remarked on this earlier, but Kaito looks like he's following the old Kamigawan tradition of the black-aligned protagonist: this time one close to outright heroic instead of Toshiro Umezawa's more antihero behaviour. Kaito's origin story already gave an example of his (black-leaning) pragmatism and doggedness.
The Uprisers have a base in Sokenzan City (I say they're a group of innovative akki referred to in the Saga stories).
Risona is mentioned by Eiko as having supporters among the Asari Uprisers. Guess that leaked card is nigh-confirmed now. Is Risona also an akki?
Eiko mentions this in Episode 2:
"(Light-Paws is) too busy trying to prevent a rebellion and keep the rest of the court from turning on each other in their bid to gain more power."
So the Imperials aren't completely loyal within the ranks...have there been any early emperor resignations and/or overthrowings in the era of the Imperials?
Seems like Jin-Gitaxias might be working with the Hyozan Reckoners, and while Tameshi and Tezzeret may have been in contact with each other for a while, Tezzeret and Jin-Gitaxias might not actually be working with each other. Definitely seems that Tameshi died near Jin-Gitaxias, though.
Yeah its pretty clear Wanderer is the Emperor, cute to have her first face revel as a child so don't know how she looks at ~16. I do kinda hope we never learn her name and she only goes by names like "The Wanderer" or "The Emperor". Also clear Tezzeret attacked and separated Wanderer and Kyodai which has left Kyodai weakened without a mortal.
Theory time:
Seems like my thought of the sisters being reborn with new Emperor was right thought I do think from how Kyodai described as having masks to represent Michiko makes me think the Sisters could be similar to the Avatar state from Avatar, where Kyodai channels all the mortals she had bonded with and Michiko is "alive" in that form. Guessing this form is only happens when a outside-palne threat happens and why Tezzeret, either working with Phyrexia and/or Bolas, attacked the Emperor, to keep the Sisters from being able to be formed. If the Sisters could fight against old walker I wouldn't doubt they could keep Phyrexia and Bolas out.
Its pretty clear Jin killed Tameshi as a part of his "leave no traces" orders.

"You can tell how dumb someone is by how they use Mary Sue"
My personal theory right now for the (seeming) nature of the Wanderer's spark - hope I end up being correct:
The Wanderer's spark actually continually tries to take her back home to Kamigawa by default (because Kamigawa still needs its emperor), but the Wanderer subconsciously or even consciously figures she's still not safe in Kamigawa due to Tezzeret attacking her there, so her spark ends up shoving her into a random plane instead whenever she isn't consciously focusing on staying in one place. The moment the Wanderer figures that going home is worth the safety risk, her spark will take her to Kamigawa...and the Wanderer will finally not need to concentrate on staying in one place in order to stay in that place.
It's quite possible that if the Wanderer wants to attend a meeting outside of Kamigawa, she has to concentrate on staying in that plane all over again.
first I was probably right all along that tezzert went back to new phyrexia and made a deal his bargain was planar bridge blueprint or his own.
second he cause the spark in the wanderer which is the emperor so she had trouble coming back so kyodai is to weak to stop certain people from coming in. So Jin/phyrexians could get in with no struggle (probably the same for bolas) clearly the best example of what happens when they work together on people entering is when Leshrac attempted to get in and failed.
and I agree with lectry the constant walking in the wanderer will probably stop once she steps in kamigawa and can control it now. Or she will get cured when she appears.
the most obvious thing will probably happen in the ending is kaito and the wanderer go find the planeswalkers/gatewatch and tell them about tezzeret/jin gitaxias on kamigawa, and that will cause them learn what Jin gitaxias was and and cause the wanderer to to realize her fears were correct about tezzeret. (Of what he will do now no longer under bolas control)
praetor number 3 could end up in New capena, just so elsepth gets in on the action of the upcoming phyrexian arc. We know she’s there and her involvement with phyrexians is ridiculously high they even caused her spark.
just like karn and eventually the gatewatch, kasmina is also prepping for the phyrexians as well and Rowan and will are her best potential allies for her to date.
kasmina was probably a native to mirrodin
a risk that Rowan joins the phyrexians rather than stop them, due to the traits of her mom and what happened during Crackle with Power on strixhaven.
and lastly I theorize liliana will be on this and return the favor Gideon did and sacrifice herself to defeat the phyrexians.
Despite being ten years apart, and multiple planes visited, Kaito doesn't seem to have grown up at all, or develop a more holistic wisdom on how system works.
And imagine, an imperial palace where climbing the walls can lead you to the god-leader's chamber, unhindered.
