I didn't expect the stories to come out in this rapid-fire kind of fashion so I haven't had the time to properly read through them, but from what I've read so far I have to say that Kaito doesn't seem very blue-black characterization-wise. A lot of his reactions and motivations seem to be tied to strong emotions and doing things the way he wants to because he feels like it, which make him seem a lot more red-blue.
Also, I can't help but chuckle a bit whenever "Risona" comes up. Risona/Resona Bank is a major bank in Japan, and the idea of it heading some sort of uprising is really funny.
Emotions are not what seperates colors from each other. Color identity can have many facets quite frankly, and it overlaps more with ideologies than with character traits. In this case Kaito is very much a pragmatic (black) futurist (blue). His goal is solely finding his friend, which has nothing to do with his colors. Black and blue characters can just as easily build deep connections to people as others. His colors are way more pronounced in his conflict with his sister: He believes technology should be used if it is available, no matter the consequences (black), and that progress should not be hindered (blue).

I think that I'm getting this impression because when talking about color pairings and how they show up in characterization and "philosophy," one of the main modes Maro always brings up is "X ends by Y means." I guess you could say that Kaito is blue ends by black means. However, I think pragmaticism is equally part of blue and black - the difference being what is is used for, i.e. the goal. Some remarks Kaito makes, for example that tech levels the playing field for all, almost seem to lean white.
But I'm going to leave it here for now until I've read all the stories.
Dyfed then planeswalked to Phyrexia, where she met with Yawgmoth, claiming to be there to put an end to his plans. Yawgmoth stabbed her in the skull with a powerstone blade that scrambled her brain, preventing her from defending herself and from switching off her immortality or planeswalking away. Thus Yawgmoth had his minions vivisect her, hoping to find an organ that allowed for planeswalking and have it transplanted into himself.

THIS IS WHAT THEY WERE TRYING TO DO!
Yes - I remember reading this in the book "The Thran" which I really enjoyed at the time. This was back when planeswalkers were pre-mending and nearly omnipotent, and this was really creepy and vile - it was a special blade that was essentially a vibrating dagger that would nonstop scramble her brain so she couldn't use her godlike powers to escape (or apparently even to let herself die). Meanwhile he carved her up trying to find a planeswalking organ inside of her, but there was none.
I'm thinking what Jin was trying to do no was a far more modern version of that - they know there is no simple organ but with all the resources and technology and magic they were looking for a way to harvest a spark of some sort. (Which we separately know is possible through the magic of the elderspell that Bolas did.)

They don't even need to look far away from new phyrexia for a way to do that... Back in Mirrodin Memnarch transformed part of the core into a spark transfer machine soo he could steal Glissa's spark...
“There are no weak Jews. I am descended from those who wrestle angels and kill giants. We were chosen by God. You were chosen by a pathetic little man who can't seem to grow a full mustache"
"You can tell how dumb someone is by how they use Mary Sue"

And with that Phyrexia has lost its greatest weakness, I also think this won't bode well for Tezzeret, they don't need the gate anymore and (it the novel is still canon) he is immune to being completed.

I went through a bunch of years recently not really paying attention to the Magic story, writing it off as dumb and lazy for most of the time since BFZ, with only Chandra being cute and gay to keep it a tiny bit interesting.
But omg, this set has changed that, holy cow. This most recent story was absolutely wild. bravo to whoever took charge of it this time around.

Project Booster Fun makes it less fun to open a booster.
Okay, I either want to punch the entire story team in the face or sell off my collection now. Possibly both. Tamiyo was one of my favorite characters in the game, I can't stand the Phyrexians and wish they would all die a horrible death, and this is the most insulting story beat I've seen since Animorphs ended. I wanted Tamiyo to come back and get a new card, but NOT LIKE THIS. I guess it's a good thing that I hadn't gotten around to the first four stories yet, because now I don't need to bother with them.
This is also crappy storytelling. The Phyrexians were always OP, but their one weakness was the inability to planeswalk. So what do the writers do as soon as they bring them back? Make that no longer apply, so now they can brainwash and conquer anyone and anything they want with little recompense. As if having plot armor thicker than the Antarctic ice caps weren't enough. So I think I officially don't care about the lore anymore, and with it, possibly not any future sets (except maybe Un-sets). Have they ever heard of Too Bleak; Stopped Caring?

Well...you can always hope that Tamiyo gets the Seven of Nine treatment...

That's my hope as well. The problem with phyresis was always that it destroys the soul, therefore there is nothing to bring back once someone undergoes it. But since compleated planeswalkers keep their soul (otherwise they couldn't planeswalk) they might at least be able to undo the personality changes in some way, shape or form.
That's it: I am stuck calling the Sisters of Flesh and Spirit retconned unless Wizards explains otherwise before the next set begins official previews. No sign that Michiko ever endured or ascended. No reference to a previous emperor repelling Leshrac with Kyodai. Heck, Kyodai doesn't even shapeshift in any of the 5 episodes.
It's left ambiguous whether the Reality Chip is still affecting the Wanderer's spark adversely, but even though the Chip is with Tamiyo now(!!!), the Wanderer's spark still insists on pulling her off Kamigawa. So I'm wrong about the nature of the Wanderer's spark, and it looks like some other predictions around here are also wrong. (They also did a terrible job of convincing me that The Reality Chip is an artifact creature - I was expecting it to be a noncreature artifact based on the episodes.)
A funny way to keep the status quo: the emperor/Wanderer is still stuck ricocheting around the multiverse, and Kaito is still searching for her. This time, Light-Paws is appointed Regent of Kamigawa.
The reptilian mech reminded me of Metal Gears such as Metal Gear RAY.
As predicted, Jin-Gitaxias is still alive, but what we might not have been predicting is that he and Tezzeret won the war. ...And Jin-Gitaxias didn't fight all Episode 5.
Risona's attack on Eiganjo is repelled, though, by the emperor/Wanderer and with a little help from Kaito.

7 of 9 is divine.
That said, am I the only one concerned with Tamiyo's three forbidden scrolls now in Phyrexians' hand?

Nope, and the story took its time to point out that Phyrexian Tamiyo is perfectly willing to use them for the glory of New Phyrexia if need be...
are mistake was the old walkers sparks were practically Immune which drove yawgmoth up the wall but that all ended when the a great mending happened. New phyrexia didn't under stand at the time of the rebirth.
and the kamigawa spirits has a similar type of manifest that walkers had that’s why jin and tezzeret were experimenting on them
I want to go back in time, find whoever came up with the idea of Phyrexia, and get them stuck in a traffic jam or accident or something so that they miss their interview and never work for Wizards of the Coast.

this is bad this is really really really really bad for the mutiverse!
first off RIP tamiyo
second shes are first ever compleated planeswalker! which means planeswalkers are in danger of being compleated now!
But omg, this set has changed that, holy cow. This most recent story was absolutely wild. bravo to whoever took charge of it this time around.
ooooh no to add insult to injury
koth is probably a goner now!
and third
isn,t that little thing Vorinclex planted in tibalt still in him. He really wasn't bluffing
Of all the planeswalkers, the first compleated is
1) the only known mom (for stirring up the feelings)
2 the most OP one, with her "story magic" being vaguely described as incredibly powerful.
Well played, Wizards. If I cared about the story after what you recently did, I'd be impressed.
Let this great clan rest in peace (2001-2011)
is this what the elixir from the world tree was for?
a ingredient to compleat a planeswalker?
