"You can tell how dumb someone is by how they use Mary Sue"
I'll just then copy a few tidbits from the thread I was writing up. I'm gonna try my best to not speculate too much.
I made this thread to discuss the narrative (if any) and flavour of C21. I don't know that there will be a story. MARO said in his State of Design article last summer that there was felt by some players a measure of dissappointment that Core 2020 had no storyline to it, yet I'm not convinced the disappointment was sufficiently strong so as to strongly necessarilly impact the design of future Core sets let alone Core 2021.
Standard-legal sets and thier storylines take a lot of time and energy to figure out and the much of the design process is likely to have been finished a year before a set's release. Regarding the narrative, this is especially if one plans to have outsource any work to outside authors. Core sets also have looser narrative themes, allowing thier design to built in a way that gives developers greater flexibility to ensure the product meets the needs of both Standard, and players new to the game. I'm a VorthosTimmy and I sometimes have to remind myself that the IP is first and foremost that of a game.
No need to be greedy.
Preview Season for Core2021 begins on Thursday, May 4th. We know the set is going to be Teferi-based and share some cards with the product Jumpstart, whose release will follow shortly after the Core set. That's really all we know, aside from th hints given by Maro today on Blogatog. One could use the few booster-pack themes announced for Jumpstart to perhaps speculate Core21's flavour, design and mechanics, but that's for a different place.
I love Teferi and I hope there are shown in the cards windows into his wild life and the differences of character between he and Urza. This also gives us the opportunity to maybe learn more about present-day Jamuuraa
Now I'm gonna look at that Maro teaser

I'm going with Lorwyn walker as its the only major plane not to have a naive walker.

You very well might be correct in this. Lorwyn has a lot of interesting race and class options for a mon0-coloured PW
Fantasy race archtypes of kithkin:
W Kithkin- (it's hard to imagine our first Kithkin PW not being Mono W
B or U fairy- tricky but doable. Eldraine fairies were well recieved
W or R giant- fun but much less likely IMOP
G Treefok- same issue as the giant
G elf- y'know, I think we could see multiple named elf PW's. They are stock fantasy enough to be differentiated from Nissa
R Goblin- Our man Grenzo is more artifact than goblin centric. Same potential as elf
R Dwarf- Dwarves in MtG are back baby!
U Merfolk- same potential as elf and goblin. Merfolk are stock enough.
I'm even less confident of a mono coloured PW belonging to the other races such as Hag or hobgoblin
Non-Lorwyn Ideas:
Mono B Azra: perhaps from Kylem? I like Kylem. Technically we might already have an unnatural Azra by way of Tybalt. Demons and Devils are not so different methinks to warrent new categories for humanoids that share features with these. They are human-ish creatures with infernal traits.
Mono B Ratfolk: Kamigawa?
Really as far as fantasy race goes, it could be anything. Especially something common to a multitude of planes, like human, elf, goblin, merfolk, vampire, etc
I personally hope that the PW is from an underdog plane though. I've grown out of old my D&D aversion to common fantasy races, so I don't care if its rather ordinary in that respect. I do wish for more PW from planes we've barely explored, or haven't visited in quite some time.

As much as I'd like to see a Lorwyn planeswalker, I'm not holding my breath just yet. Lorwyn has the major issue that it is now merged with its Shadowmoor aspect and unless they ditch one half of the plane, they'd have to make up an "inbetween" state for every race and all (unless the planeswalker is much older, predating Oona's fall). Doesn't sound like something they'd do for a coreset, but I would love to be proven wrong.
The only thing that I would dislike about this is that I like both the Ainok and Jackalfolk from Tarkir and Amonkhet respectively. Any lord should influence both tribes. Whereas Kitsune I hits on another kind of trope entirely. In Japanese mythology they bear more resemblence to the fey of medieval Europe in thier relationship with mortals I think.

To be frank, creature types in Magic are a mess. Insects and non-insects alike are lumped together, no distinction is made for different kinds of birds, yet ferrets, badgers, wolverines and friggin sables get their own one-off creature types. Elementals and spirits are used haphazardly across differentworlds behaving more like incarnations, which also exist but aren't entirely sure how they differ from avatars. Minotaurs are minotaurs, viashino are viashino and ainok are dogs. What.
... Sorry for that rant. It just came out like that. I'm okay now.
Liliana art is a call back to her origins card and seems to be her during ....that novel...which makes senses as that had no set. Also of note that the marketing for her been updated to note she's free from her contracts now.

Got excited during the stream yesterday when Maro started talking about how they can't outright return to Kamigawa... but then the card he revealed was "only" a Azusa reprint.
I like how Chromatic Orrery references Mirrodin, looks like it's something Karn (or another PW) built on Dominaria.

M21 funny enough
we got Basri back story. He was an Oketra follower, who when finishing her trial, which has the crop work together to get an arrow and his overhelimg feeling of joy from reaching the arrows had him spark. It took awhile for him to figure out how to return home but when he finally did it was after the hours and he found Oketra dead and his home in ruins. Instead of falling into despair or breaking his faith, it doubled his believe in Oketra ideas and now as a paladin seeks to spread her teaching across the multiverse.

Man, it really is harsh that Oketra died. But certainly made the Amonkhet story cut deep. Nice to see one of her followers traveling the planes, keeping her teachings alive. Now that is a cool character and motive. It'll be interesting if he, like Samut, ever visits Theros.
In all fairness, Wasitora's head does look pretty catlike in her own art. And in the Nine Lives art you can actually see her neck plates.
Looking better, I can see the plates, but a more centric vision on Wasitora would have cleared the confusion, I think. Also Arhabo should have been almost white, I think. But I get the artist' intent.
What we know;
