Soo aparently there has been some spoilers from a free sample chrapter(?).
Here are the highlights:
> Garruk returns
> He is mesmerized / enslaved by a fey planeswalker called Oko
> The High King , father of Will and Rowan, is making a Grand Procession, a first-harvest tour of all five courts of the Realm
> Rowan's healer friend Cerise rides a bearded unicorn

Nice news imo figuring if i want to buy or not another book of mtg but soo far looks interesting.
-Maro said the other walker in the set is new so that must mean Oko. So we got Will, Rowan and Oko.
-Oko is our first Faerie walker. He can shape change, use nature magic and seeming can use a form of mind magic on Garruk. Personality wise as well he seems thoughtful and seems to want to take down what he views as tyrants. My guess is UG, he seems to have some red in him due to the wanting to get rid of tyrants thing but I could see green doing that and I don't see a faerie in magic not being some form of blue.
-He also had been mind enslaved similar to Garruk in the past and hate tyrants as I said so seems like he is gonna be the cause of the High King going missing.
-Garruk is back and I'm guessing this also explains why he isn't in War. He's not a card in the set BUT i doubt Oko is gonna to keep control of Garruk and as this is the start of a new story arc could be setting up Garruk as a new big bad. Might also be why he's not getting a card, he's gonna be a bigger player later on.
-I wonder if Oko knows Liliana due to his reaction to her name. As a Fey Oko could also be an old walker since I'd guess they are very long living and could have survived the mending. This also could tie this story into the gatewatch later.
-So Will and Rowan are 17. You know Not sure if we where told where in the timeline battle bound takes place since it could be the twins have yet to spark.
-I like that we seeing more walkers with families. Seeing that the twins mother and father (currently) are alive is nice
-Seems like when knight? nobles? turn 18 they go out on a quest, with Rowan wanting to have her birthday and get one...hehe dramatic irony.
-The land has five courts, one for each color/set of color combos since this is magic.
- Unicorn mounts are a thing

"You can tell how dumb someone is by how they use Mary Sue"
Oko sounds pretty neat. Curious what colors they'll wind up being. Also surprised they'd use someone popular but not give them a card, wonder if there are four.
Soooo... Garruk is back to be a mindless hunter of Planeswalkers? Last time we've seen him, in the Monster short story, Jace found Garruk to be clean of the curse. Garruk explicitly said that if he would be leave alone, he wouldn't go on a murder spree: ""Because I am what I am. I'll kill if I have to. I may even," and there Garruk opened his mouth in a wide smile, "enjoy it from time to time. But if you and the others leave me alone, then you have nothing to worry about. That's the best deal I'm going to offer.""
And now he's back to be a corrupted beast that only travels the planes to kill other planeswalkers?

Garruk could be one of the Braw decks commander. The format has the all planeswalkers as commanders as a feature and having a exclusive walker that people claim to like as a front exclusive card could be a good marketing

You have the quote right there bud.
"Because I am what I am. I'll kill if I have to. I may even... enjoy it from time to time. But if you and the others leave me alone, then you have nothing to worry about. That's the best deal I'm going to offer.
Oko walked to a plane Garruk was and Garruk saw Oko as a threat coming after him.
“They keep coming after me. If I kill all Planeswalkers then I can hunt in peace.”

Alternately (or possibly this is the cause of his injury?), the High King may have gone missing because he decided to hunt a Questing Beast.
I'd be more interested if this set leaned in the Fillory direction, but that's probably too much to hope for.
and I find it plausible that the High King went missing partially because his children were not there to watch over him and/or prevent him from following up on his own stupid ideas.
Why assume a character we've never even heard of until now is an idiot who needs children to watch over him?
Oko walked to a plane Garruk was and Garruk saw Oko as a threat coming after him.
Eh, this still makes Garruk unable to understand who is stalking him and who is not, not really rationale as the last time we have seen him.
Its been two years or so since we last saw him. And he is still cursed, Jace/"you" just stopped Garruk from demoning out.

Yeah, the interview actually left open the possibility that Oko actually undergoes character development and maybe even makes a new friendship or two in the book. ...Of course, he could remain a stubborn old trickster who refuses to change his ways.
Oko is SUUPER hot! As a man, I’d totally take that bro on a date, granted he’d probably steal my car, wallet and phone after the first/last outing.
I kinda think Oko might be of an lgbtq+ identity. Which is cool because it can demonstrate how one can feature lgbtq+ persons positively even should the character be an antagonist.
Yes, I’m a bit excited, but as MaRo recently wrote, sometimes MtG makes content to be especially relevant to different players at different times. And I might as well enjoy content if it *ends up being relevant to me haha!
Expect some lore tidbits tomorrow due to the ebook coming out and prominent MtG community members getting packaged from Wizards
There is a new thread for the book spoilers regarding story.
Some facts from the book:
The five realms/courts seem to be:
- Ardenvale, home of the High King and the Kenrith twins, strong white vibe
- Vantress, castle by a huge loch, seat of Indrelon (basically the Magic Mirror), who trades secrets for answers, strong blue-aligned, aided by undines (Eldraine merfolk)
- Locthwain, flying castle that "lost its virtue" , ruled by elven queen Ayara - by elimination method this seems to be the "black" court
- Embereth, another knight-centered court, primarily red
- Garenbrig, the most Innistrad-like court, with knights riding bears, clearly meant to be the "green" one. Ruled by King Yorvo, a giant. Location of a portal to the Wilds (built in a Stonehenge-manner.)
The "Well of Eternity" is something of a Holy Grail of Eldraine, once belonging to Queen Ayara. It shows up in the story and is responsible for one very turning-point event (for one character).
Anybody can become the High King (or High Queen), if they manage to get all five knighthoods of the Realm. Special individuals are chosed for this "royal quest" by "The Questing Beast". Both Algenus Kenrith (the High King) and Linden Kenrith (his wife) were once just commoners.
Happy Halloween to us, we got a planeswalker guide. After the art book was cancelled I we wouldn't get to see the world of Eldraine from a non-story pov.
Things I found interesting;
-The five court artifacts where originally the elves. The arficts are also the sources of magic for the knights of each court.
-Ardenvale loyalty is based on kinship and trust and not on rulership.
-The test of knighthood from Ardenvale is to walk through the circle of loyalty. Those who fail don't always die, they get saved and healed, but are rarely allowed to try again.
-Vantress knighthood test is telling the magic mirror a secret and the mirror might then grant knighthood.
-Magic mirror was said to be made from an answered question that it tries to solve.
-Vantress is ruled by the mirror though the day to day stuff is run by an archmage the current one is Gadwick. He is as powerful as any other ruler of a the courts but tends to say of it to work on Vantress.
-Castle Locthwain floats on clouds and its knights are granted clouds to float on to get up and down.
-Figuratively Locthwain is lost with the Cauldron missing and super focused on getting the back. They also tend to look down on nobles who aren't knight and/or making efforts to help find the Cauldron.
- Ayara it seems was the ruler of Locthwain before the realms formed and the elves lost power. She is likely immortal and her court she her as a the pinnacle of persistence for still ruling, adopting and moving forward. Also all the terms used for her lovers and spouses she sends to their deaths looking for the Cauldron where gender neutral so I'm guess she has had non-male lovers.
-As the red court Embereth isn't too orderly with the "castle" being the whole city around it and the burning yards.
-They don't believing in being fearless but using fear to motive courage.
-Irencrag is a boulder that has magical heat. A wanna-be knight must plunge thier sword into it and try to remove it with sometimes the sword getting magical upgrade which is what shows Embercleave.
-Embereth is ruled by a counsel of nobles and knights.
-To gain a knighthood in Garenbrig one has to prove thier strength determined by Yorvo.
-Similar to Locthwain, Garenbrig was a giants kingdom before the realm and its giants joined the realm willingly.
-Non-humans are collectivly called the fair folk and various goals and motivation from creature to creature.
-Three kind of fae, meddling W, thieving U and prankster B.
-Dwarfs tend to dislike the too orderly systems the courts have so many tend to live in the wilds, but a few seek knighthood. Torbran was one but his sword was insulted by Irencrag he left, rumors said to forge an even better one to show up the stone.

The Vorthos community will await the consequences of the Eldrazi Titans' deaths/sealing. We will keep the watch.
