Hey everyone! I'm hoping you nerds can help us update this detailed Dominaria map I've been putting together with my friends on The Vorthos Cast. We've already overlaid many of the maps we could find or work logically to place locations. What I need from all of you, if you want to add a location or change a name, is give me some kind of reference for it.
Maybe its just my faulty memory, but isn't Old Tolaria also in the Spice Isles just like Tolaria West and not west of Madara? In fact, I always thought the art of Tolaria West depicted the glassed landscape of the original island, and Tolaria West would then in fact be on a part of the island that wasn't completely incinerated by Barrin.
Also, a bit of an obvious one, but the body of water between the Jamuraan continents is called the Sea of Jamuraa.
There was also a powerstone factory in Shiv during Urza's time. It might even still be there due to Teferi phasing it out right before the invasion and sucessfully pulling the place back in during Time Spiral.
Finally, there is an old map released in the Apocalypse novel showing where all the big Phyrexian portals appeared during the invasion. I think you can also find that on the Wiki too. It would be a good reference for those who want to take a guess where that portal is that is shown in the Dominaria trailer video, and they are obviously also scenes of major battles during the invasion.
Edit: one more thought-- Skyshroud forest was planeshifted into Keld during the invasion, though it is probably died off after Freyalise sacrificed herself. Still relevant, though, since Radha's elven bloodline is from Skyshroud.
"At Madara the Elder Dragon Planeswalker Nicol Bolas dueled another Planeswalker of Dominaria ---?--- to the death"
"In the years following the destruction of the original Tolarian Academy, the students and professors dispersed and founded new academies across Dominaria"
"Shiv is a large island isolated by a vast ocean. The --?-- and --?-- of large submerged volcanoes have formed a ring of smaller islands around it"
"---?--- was stripped here to fuel the machines of the brothers war, and Urza's Golgothian Sylex was detonated here"
"At Madara the Elder Dragon Planeswalker Nicol Bolas dueled another Planeswalker, a demonic leviathan, to the death"
"In the years following the destruction of the original Tolarian Academy, the students and professors dispersed and founded new academies across Dominaria"
"Shiv is a large island isolated by a vast ocean. The calderas and vents of large submerged volcanoes have formed a ring of smaller islands around it"
"---?--- was stripped here to fuel the machines of the brothers war, and Urza's Golgothian Sylex was detonated here"
Fairly certain on these changes.^^
No clue on the last one, but it starts with a T (compare to Tolaria). Tavidor? Teridour? I'm not that familiar with the specifics of the Dominaria storyline as I started playing with OG Mirrodin.
Last one is "Terisiare was stripped bare..." rest as listed above.
I guess you could label the trench from Sarpadia to Terisiare if you really want (SEV8 probably wants).
Otherwise I can only think of former places, mostly on Terisiare - odd how the other continents haven't really had much in the way of name changes for the lands and cities in thousands of years.
Buzzard's Bay is featured in the Jedit novel, while in Hazezon novel the Blue Mountains are described as the mountains north of Tirras.
Also, I don't know how much detail you want on the map, but the sea South-east of Aerona (where Foriys lies) is the Honeyed Sea (from the map of the Domains), while the sea North-west of Aerona (where lies Avenant) is called the Sea of Fire (from Final Sacrifice novel).
Hammerheim is not a mountain range, is a fortress (as on the card): the name of the mountain range is Smoke Mountains (as shown on the other map of Aerona and in the novel Final Sacrifice).
Also, why is Cabal City in the middle of Ixidor's desert? That's where Topos and the Nightmare Lands should be (if they still exist). There are two swamplands that you can see along the coast in eastern Otaria. Cabal City should be somewhere in the northern one, and Aphetto in the southern one.
Have you guys made progress on this recently? I'd love to see it more complete. That said, the 5th Magic Story Podcast on Dominaria covers much of the East portion of Jamuraa. I'm reading through "Myths of Magic, and the Deathbringer Story puts Estark (the city) on the Western shore of Aerona, which lines up with the detailed map of Aerona from Wizards. Wiki says it's in Kush, the pointed peninsula on the left side of the main Aerona continent, between Sursi and Verdura.
We talked on reddit about the new Heroes of Dominaria game, and the location of Caligo. Seems to be in the same spot as the Whispering Woods, so it's likely the woods got renamed to Caligo, and then became a Morass.
I'd be interested in chatting sometime, as this was a project I wanted to work on myself for my references and blog.
Per artbook: "The Caligo Morass is a marshy delta in northeastern Benalia, situated on the narrow coastal plain between the Red Iron Mountains and the Sea of Avenant." Also that the Tiel River runs through it.
To me, that points to the little patch of swamp that you can see if you follow the "N" in "BENALIA" on the map straight north to the coast.
I get the feeling that the "Geography" section on p.39 refers more to the old map shown here than the new one.
Benalia City is on "the northwestern peninsula" so where indicated on the linked map.
Benalish colonists and Keldons fight for the "relatively narrow stretch of land between the Sea of Avenant and the Whispering Woods to the east", so the part shown in the upper right of the linked map.
House Capashen rules "the northern part" of Benalia so I guess that same peninsula?
House Croger is in the "central forests and eastern mountains" wherever that is.
House Rosecot is the "southern plains" so I guess the part below the Kb'Briann Highlands (which are described as "effecively a Benalish protectorate".
House Tarmula is on "the wooded shores of Lake Tarmula in central Benalia" so that must be the one lake visible on the map.
House Deniz is on "a thin strip along most of the western coast".
House Joryev is "the southwestern coast".
Based on all that here is an updated version of the linked map.
I haven't looked at many of the other sections to see if there are more geography details.
Here's a Jamurran geography question: Prophecy references Arsenal City and the Kipamu League, and Ki'pamu City-States show up on the other subcontinent of Jamuraa (rather than the Zhalfirin subcontinent). Where does Prophecy take place, then? I assumed it was within Zhalfir (especially since Teferi was present; further, Mageta was referenced in Return to Dominaria, suggesting Prophecy occurred in the Zhalfirin subcontinent).
Anyone with thoughts/insights? Maybe I'm just confusing something? It's also been however many years since the release of Prophecy that I've read it...

Jolrael, Empress of Beasts is there too, but I thought it was basically all on the northeast continent. Vintara Snapper and Root Cage show that Vintara is involved while Nakaya Shade and Wall of Vipers reference Nakaya. Both of those locations are clearly on that landmass in our current map. Ridgeline Racer does say "across Jamuraa", but Squirle's blog says "north-west Jamuraa" but "not the bit we saw in Mirage". In the comments it seems clear that he is talking about the Vintara/Nakaya area, but Barrin refers to it as "Western Jamuraa" in the Prophecy note here. I guess it's the western edge of that part of Jamuraa. Squirle's blog also shows the map locating Arsenal City there.
In conclusion - pretty sure Prophecy is entirely on the northeast part of Jamuraa, but the Kipamu League is somehow coincidentally related to Ki'pamu in Zhalfir. There are a lot of people from the Zhalfir area that participate in the war so there must be political connections of some kind.

They're not on a map, so I need quotes indicating that these are indeed those locations.

I tried looking all over the social media site, with no luck, but I'll be honest I have no idea how to navigate them.
