Haha Jace told Lili to eat it, It only took 3 different sides of him uniting as one Mega Jace to get it through his skull that Lili is a terrible influence and not worth his time.
Actually, it took him loving Vraska to do it. Jace isn't stupid for having affection for Lilliana. Love, or his understanding of love at that time, overwhelms judgment and reason. It's literally obsession. Vraska overwrote those emotions while also being a better and worthwhile individual, so he's invested that affection in someone with more honor. But I do feel sad for Lilliana, because in her own selfish and conceited way, she really does seem to love Jace. She's just incapable of showing it any other way than the method she has been. Giving her the cold shoulder while she's been rather concerned about his departure felt rather sad, especially since his reason was a misconception.
I love Jace x Vraska but I'd actually like to see Jace and Lilliana happen... I liked the tension and comparison of those relations. Jace x Gideon is OTP though.
I wonder if Wizards will keep publishing the story for a long period of time, i like the story, i get that they retconned some things i read a ton of comics and play a lot of RPG's so retcons are common for me, but it seems like for the Vorthos community having a retcon is like being hit by a bus.
Also i get that we dislike certain characters so we trashtalk the chapter because it was focused on a character we dislike i did that with Lili and Teferi and a lot of you folks are doing the same with the recent Chandra stuff.
Anyway i just don't see a reason for them to keep publishing it, they're not getting anything out of it and the only thing the community does is complain about how things aren't like they wanted it to be.
I decided to re-read the Lili chapters just to see if i actually hated and the funny thing is, i don't they're pretty well written i was entertained and i didn't had to pay anything for it, i still dislike Lili but i no longer dislike the chapters just because she was the focus of said chapter.
Also, about Belzenlok, let's just accept that the only one of Lili's demons who actually had a story was Grieselbrand (that's his name right? These demons names are super complicated)

I don't think we can actually say Jace loved Lilliana, His self lobotomized mind loved Liliana and his self lobotomized mind was a ****. This Jace isn't the Jace we have known for the past few years. Him being cold and businesslike makes sense, He has a responsibility to Ravnica and he isn't going to screw around with Lilliana's game anymore because he has adult things to do like preventing Nicol Bolas from turning the plane he is effectively ruler of into a Planeswalker Trap.
Am I the only one who will be upset if Bolas is defeated even by a team of 20 walkers, most of whom would be new? He is the oldest, smartest, and strongest entity we know of, and to be beaten by people who collectively aren't even half his age seems ridiculous to me. The Phyrexian Threat has to be dealt with on a plane by plane basis because we don't know how many planes Karn tracked his oil-laden boots to. The Eldrazi are technically a single entity now contained, but we have yet to learn the ramifications of 2 dead, 1 imprisoned. Garruk and Ob are mere nuisances; one being a walker serial killer and the other being a conquest hungry warlord. Yet Bolas should be considered way more powerful than all of them, and easily at that. Ever since Alara block, I have worried that they turned Bolas from this *Evil because I don't care what happens to others but I want my god power back* into *I want to destroy worlds and twirl my moustache*. Obviously Wotc is being secretive about his end goal and if he is actually making all these moves in order to harness sparks and regain his godhead, then I would accept that, but you don't live and learn for as long as bolas has and die to some young adults; this isn't scooby doo..... at least I would like if it weren't.

That's honestly the problem with Bolas.
He's been so built up by creative and by the community itself. He's SO old, and SO powerful, and SO cunning, etc. that there's simply no feasible way to defeat him and not have it come across like some asspull deus ex machina.
That actually makes him a bad character, IMO. Not evil, BAD.

Yes, also i'm relieved Jace is no longer manipulated because... well, representing U while being manipulated is pretty ironic.
We talk of a guy who see no problem with erasing some parts of his memory and mess with his own mind if it can help him to achieve an objective.
Getting clueless and emotional as the embodiment of Blue was already far-stretched for me. I don't say he should've been an automaton but he should at the very least be able to supress his emotions.
It's a good thing to see Jace back in control of himself, trying to control and not being controlled, just like it should be.
I think I've said it before, but in a way, Jace's story parallels Liliana's. Both people have been manipulated by others for a good portion of their lives, but Liliana has tried to escape this far longer than Jace did. Now the table is being flipped, and it seems Jace has finally taken charge of his own fate, while Liliana is sinking deeper and deeper into bondage.
Also, on an semi-related note, out of the 3 Jace personas that have combined to create current Jace (Vryn Jace, "regular" Jace, Ixalan Jace), I wonder which of them will end up dominant in the long run.
I don't think the story has even been trying to make Belz out to be a real threat in his own right. His strength is obviously from his control over the Cabal, but otherwise the story has demonstrated that he's full of *****. His whole schtick has been making things up about himself and taking credit for things he didn't do. He seems like more of a manipulator and lead from behind type of guy than a direct threat. Ironically, this makes him the most potent of Lili's demons, and the most dangerous in general, but probably the least dangerous in a fight. Her first one, that sent her for the veil, we never get an idea of his power because she immediately eradicates him with the veil. Grislebrand we know was hot ***** because he went toe to toe with Avacyn and tricked her into the helvault. He was powerful and clever, but of course was unceremoniously wiped out by the veil. What we got from that was that the veil is absurdly powerful, but we also got to see how dangerous it is for her to use. Raziketh ended up being a real threat, at least as much as Grislebrand would have been in a real fight, and it took the entire Gatewatch to bring him down. Belz probably isn't as strong as Raziketh, the real challenge there will be actually getting to him in fighting shape.
As for Bolas, they've built him up but not to the point of Yawgmoth. Urza was the most powerful oldwalker of all time, and Taysir was second, and even with 7 other Oldwalkers and the entire plane of Dominaria on their side, not just the people but the very plane itself, they still needed a miracle (and literally rewriting the story) to win. And it was devastating. I could see a dozen neo walkers teaming up to take down Bolas with the help of some trickery and have it be satisfying, especially if he gets betrayed and doesn't expect it (Vraska, maybe even Lili). That's still an Avengers level team up, that's worthy of the level of villain Bolas is. Yawgmoth is a tier to himself.

Onering's 4 simple steps that let you solve any problem with Magic's gameplay
Whether its blue players countering your spells, red players burning you out, or combo, if you have a problem with an aspect of Magic's gameplay, you can fix it!
Step 1: Identify the problem. What aspect of Magic don't you like? Step 2: Find out how others deal with the problem. How do players deal with this aspect of the game when they run into it? Step 3: Do what those players do. Step 4: No more problem. Bonus: You are now better at Magic. Enjoy those extra wins!
Well that is the difference...Urza vs Yawgmoth was a war that lasted Millennium and the end game cost 7 Oldwalkers including Urza and half the Weatherlight Crew including Gerrard, and devastated Dominaria and the population for at least a century culminating in Time Spiral Crisis. It featured Urza developing an academy to indoctrinate kids to fight a war for him, time traveling, design/acquisition of plenty of powerful artifacts and Urza going full Eugenics in Benalia for centuries.
Bolas can never live up to the legacy of Yawgmoth because WOTC does not have the balls to put their precious Gatewatch in the grave. I am sure Bolas will notch a few kills but he is not taking out 77%, 7/9 of whether team Ajani and Jace puts together while devastating Ravnica for a century or so. Nor have Jacetice League put in nearly the amount of prep Urza did and in the build up Ravnica has suffered no consequences prior to the final battle like the Ice Age. WOTC is simply too corporate for this fight to liveup to the hype and not good enough with storytelling if the Eldrazi Titan situation is anything to go by.
I mean honestly if Bolas takes out one Founding Gatewatch Member in Nissa, Gideon, Jace or Chandra, along with three of whoever Ajani recruits I be impressed. Not counting new characters introduced just to be cannon fodder like Garruk and his planeswalker kills.

Even if he did take 3/4 of the neowalkers with him, he still won't live up to Yawgmoth, because they're just neowalkers. That's sort of the point. He's not SUPPOSED to live up to Yawgmoth. Nobody ever will. His supposed to be the sort of threat that threatens the planes when only neowalkers are around. Remember, when he was an oldwalker at the very pinnacle of his power he was defeated by a single magical samurai who wasn't even a planes walker.
Of course, we also don't know that Ravnica will be the final battle. They could very well defeat Bolas for him to escape to fight another day.

I'd take that over the cheap Deus ex machine that was Commander Guff.
We seen Ajani, Gideon and Nissa land hits on Bolas. Not unreasonable to think a large group of walkers could overwhelm him.

Had been more worried about lovecraftian gods and phyrexian praetors than an old scheming dragon. Will feeling cathartic when that dragon be slain for second time. While his plan be cool, make me thinking of Memnarch's big plans on bigger scale, can't help feel there will be a backfire moment; like body not meant take so many sparks. If Bolas been physically weak due to age but crafty and skilled with magics, that be better threat.
Plus been doing some maths, that be lot of planeswalkers in the set for Ravnica Invasion fight. 7+ good, 4+ evil, ??+ neutral.

The only other way this turns out is if they pull a 'you win this round' on Ravnica. Even then it's a bit of a letdown. Still, there is an untold amount of storyline between then and where we are now. We don't really know how many sets away the convergence is, what will happen between then and now. I generally agree, they've made the division between Bolas' power and Gatewatches power pretty insurmountable, but it does still remain to be seen.
The higher the likelihood that fans would ask to see a character, the better the chance the character had to return. Squee is a great example. He has absolutely nothing to do with the story, but we knew the audience would want to see him, so we included him.

Did anyone else raise an eyebrow when Multani refered to Molimo in the latest story as his "rival"?
Jaya refered to him as Multani's rival, not himself.
The relation between the two elementals was a bit strained but not so much to be a rivalry, but Jaya probably doesn't know it.
I'd argue Ixalan Jace is essentially a matured Vryn Jace, without some memories. It's who he is naturally without the interim history and erasures. Notice how his natural curiosity and intellect shone.
Well, Multani didn't correct her though.
Anyway, I might be reading to much into it. BUT I want to say that I really wouldn't midn the relationships between the maros to be explored further. Considering how they are the embodiments of forests, it would make sense for them to have a bit of a rivalry between each other, kinda like animals that defend their territory. They are technically competing for space (or would if they were bordering each other) so that would make for very interesting dynamic: Normally friendly and kind*, but not towards other maros. It'd give them some texture as characters.
*Or at least neutral. Molimo isn't really friendly and kind from what I've heard. (Didn't read the invasion novels.)
Molimo was hostile to Multani since Molimo revered Freyalise and not Gaea, but in the end he (albeit a bit begrudgingly) helped Multani, lending him the power of Llanowar. It is unknown how Molimo reacted to the death of Freyalise.
I wonder if we'll ever see Muldrotha in the story, especially when they eventually land on Urborg to strike at the Stronghold. A more sinister version of Multani could make for an interesting story, but there might not be enough time for that.
EDIT: New story's up. Slimefoot makes his debut in this one.
SLIMEFOOT! YAY!!!!!
Now the party can officially start.
"Because she agrees with us that it has to be done before we face Nicol Bolas again. I don't even know what you're asking me. Are you trying to find out why my first impulse isn't to use information given to me in strict confidence by one friend to manipulate another friend?"
"No, of course not!" Liliana strode away.
Slimefoot heard Gideon murmur, "Her capacity to lie to herself is almost infinite."
Wow. seems like Gideon knows Lili better than she knows herself. (although that doesn't seem to be much of an accomplishment).
That was very cute. But uhm, they did mess up a lot lore wise again. They have little to do with Yavimaya yet they keep bringing it up even in reference to Molimo who's from Llanowar. Also, they're originally from Sarpadia. Odd.

-Not huge on thallid history but it was cool seeing Slimefoot pov as he grew and interacted with the other characters. Really cool way to show off different sides of the characters.
-Interesting that Slimefoot got his sun light from the powerstone.
-So the weatherlight might still be alive in some form since Slimefoot is able to ready its feelings and I'm guessing Slimefoot can understand it since they grew from the same seed the reborn weatherlight did.
-Guess no Jaya and Jodah reunion and it seems like Jaya is trying to say out of the spotlight.
-Liliana trying to figure out not to selfish made me snort.
-Hmmm now why would the weatherlight be feeling Anticipation about Phyrexia.
-The scene with Karn and Slimefoot was sweet, poor guilt filled silver man.
-I'm liking Chandra and Jaya a lot together and with Jaya.
I love Slimefoot, they are a cute little character. Now with two stories left I think we got most of the story beats except the fight with the cabal, Bolas showing up and whatever point Teferi makes the oath. Maybe next week is all of that and the last chapter will be an epilogue?

Probably hurts they didn't inspire much confidence in how they handled the Eldrazi Titans. Maximized Fireball For the Win.
Step 1: Identify the problem. What aspect of Magic don't you like? Step 2: Find out how others deal with the problem. How do players deal with this aspect of the game when they run into it? Step 3: Do what those players do. Step 4: No more problem. Bonus: You are now better at Magic. Enjoy those extra wins!

Gideon getting a soul sucking blade that already took down an elder dragon helps.
EDIT: Sorry to say but from Maro's article Squee isn't apart of the story;

Jaya refered to him as Multani's rival, not himself.
The relation between the two elementals was a bit strained but not so much to be a rivalry, but Jaya probably doesn't know it.

EDIT: New story's up. Slimefoot makes his debut in this one.
Now the party can officially start.
Wow. seems like Gideon knows Lili better than she knows herself. (although that doesn't seem to be much of an accomplishment).

From the cards and the player guide thallids seemed to have spread out of Sarpadia and have been seen in Urborg and are thriving in Yavimaya.
