She doesn't exactly look like an unblockable rogue fugitive though.... Was thinking that was art for Naru Meha, which would be funny because it shares the first syllable with Narset's name, which will fuel the hardcore conspiracy theorists.
That is true, the "Narset" art definitely looks like a wizard.
Soooooo... Guess we now know Teferi's gonna be in the Gatewatch? I still don't get how he can be a planeswalker to begin with, tho.
Could be that he never lost his spark in the first place and he just needed time for it to regain it's power. The only other Walker who did his method of sealing a rift was Karn and his spark wasn't naturally his anyways so we really can't use him as a case.
- Urgoros, the Empty One - Lagendary SPECTER!
- Grunn, the Lonely King - legendary APE!
I'm mighty miffed you find a legendary specter and ape mentionworthy, but not dear Slimefoot, the Stowaway. We might finally learn how the thallids escaped sarpadia. As a thallid fan, I find that plenty rude. >:(
On a more serious note, I noticed a distinct lack of thrulls. Interestingly, during Time Spiral block, there was only one card that cared about thrulls, which wasn't even one himself. That's really weird, if you consider the fact that Dominaria is like one of two known worlds with thrulls.
Also no treefolk.
Let's hope there's some thrulls and treefolk in the vanillas and cards they didn't find mentionworthy.

Going through the cards, Academy Journeymage would also fit.

No Fall of Sarpadia among the Sagas?
I really like how the thing are going, good returns and a lot (maybe even more) of new characters. I'll be pissed if the new Umezawa doesn't score a point against Bolas... and I surely hope that in Bolas's Clutches doesn't mean what it seems...

My sad suspicion is that he'll get Jaya's spark somehow.
Between the art on the Chandra/Teferi boxes showing them with Jaya's goggles and cloth from her robe, there's also the Karn card which shows him wearing her sash. Aside from seeing some awesome sass from Jaya, I really hope Chandra actually gets to meet her before things go down.

I bet she'll buy the group time and 1v1 Bolas while they accomplish something, knowing it's a losing proposition but holding nothing back. Would be cool to see what Jaya is capable of when she lets loose on screen and not just cards. That XRR spell could be from something like that. Naturally her gear is fireproof so it could be all that remains for the others to recollect later.
bloodfire dwarf flavor text gets me in the feels...do it Jaya...do it.
Bolas would also give a reason for so many legendaries to come out of the woodwork. Many of these older entities probably know what he is and what he's capable of and aren't having any of that on their world.

Bolas is a big enough and infamous enough threat that he could serve as a good catalyst for bringing lots of people who otherwise would have nothing to do with each other together just to take him down.
On another note, I agree that this set is shaping up to be a Vorthos fiesta. I wonder how much of that has to do with Garfield being at the helm of this one.
Interestingly, I think that there are definite story tea leaves here.
1) Liliana is going to kill Belzenlok. This is almost definite. However, this isn't going to save her, as Bolas is likely to enforce her agreement on Amonkhet.
2) Why, do you ask? The only name I think Bolas fears (aside from, maybe, Ugin) is Umezawa. There's an Umezawa--a fugitive, at that--on Dominaria currently. Pretty sure that Liliana is going to be used by Bolas to kidnap Tetsuko, and Tetsuko is the reference for In Bolas's Clutches (IBC).
3) Less likely but still likely is that Liliana herself is the referent for IBC. The fact that IBC is Confiscate+ is a bit worrying, as the card effect would seem to refer more to Liliana than Tetsuko.
Still, if this is right, what IS it with blue 1/3 card-wise insignificant characters being pivotal for legendary-matters set stories? First, Kami of the Crescent Moon and now Tetuko?
Edit: If the Raven Man is indeed Lim-Dul, then perhaps he uses Liliana to kill Jaya in Settle the Score, which Liliana after the fact sees as her Moral Event Horizon, and then goes to Bolas as her only protection from the wrathful Gatewatch?
Also... Broken Bond may refer to Liliana giving up the Chain Veil?

Ah, good point. More fuel for Belzenlok's pyre, then...
Tetsuko does sound like a female name. I assumed it was male because males carry the line of ancestry, but it actually makes sense that the remaining Umezawa is female. Bolas took vengeance on the Umezawa line, perhaps murdering all its males, then we remember Night's Reach. Man I wish we'd catch up with her.
I wonder if we going to see Oath of Jaya and Oath of Karn/ if we don't why would Teferi join the gatewatch but not them?
Has Teferi ever acted white? I'm not big on older lore but before he's always been mono blue.

He phased out two continents due to pragmatic concern. He has always acted with a bit of white in his mostly blue persona. Current theory is Jaya dies, as for Karn. They could refuses for the same reason Narset refuses, the watch is more dangerous than helpful and he doesn't have the time to babysit when his own problems are spiraling out of control.

I really hope Tetsuko gets involved in the story, the Umezawa clan is my favourite familly line of the series. The name Umezawa is in the nubmer 1 on Bolas's ***** lsit rofl, to acomplish that deserves massive respect.

He has two cards at least that I remember having white, his moat and something else. I made a Teferi theme deck a year or so ago which is why I recall. I think his moat and the other card have white because of the protective nature, and if he's protecting Dominaria again, I can see white in his cost.
I'm more wondering what's going down with his spark. I'm on the verge of aggravation if Wizards just finds ways to give sparks back to people. Why not Radha??

I'm 99% certain Radha is supposed to have a spark. I don't recall anything in timespiral that said she lost it, it just never fully ignited.

You are right, was Tamiyo. That said I see Karn as "You got your problems, and I've got mine. The first one to fix theirs will help the other." Because I don't see him putting off the phyrexian to fight somebody else's battles regardless how sympathetic they may be.
Tetsuko is indeed a female name under traditional Japanese naming rules. 3-mora name ending in -ko is >99% chance female. (I literally cannot think of an exception.)
Where did she come from, though? She would have to be a descendant of Tetsuo, who was a descendant of Toshiro, no? This points more and more to the fact that she is a fugitive from Nicol Bolas. I'm guessing that she was 'on ice' somewhere in the Meditation Realm and somehow got out.
I mean, people more knowledgeable of the history than I please inform me, because AFAIK Legends (and Tetsuo) was WAY too far in the past for there to be a direct link, no?

After Bolas's resurrection, he went on a hunt to wipe out the bloodline of the man who 'killed' him, as well as the being who sent the first Umezawa to Dominaria.
She( I agree that Tetsuko is a female name) is most likely a Fugitive from Bolas and his minions, thought given her great-ancestor, she could be a regular fugitive, running from the Cabal or Serra Order
