They have no will of their own, and no one's told them to do anything other than to keep moving stuff. Much like the caretakers who kept serving food to locusts in Hour of Promise.
This is what an excess of white mana will do to you. Parents, don't let your kids tap Plains

Ideally, this is how it should be. But these mummies were reincarnated by a Black curse set by a Black character (Razaketh) and are embalmed by a Black god (Bontu).
It's kind of frustrating, how dissonant flavor is.

Where was it said that Razaketh put into play the curse of wandering?

Would've absolutely loved seeing Temmet doing a mindless mummy thing after being embalmed like this (Wizards, when are you going to off him already, dammit?!?). I mean, he seems to be in control of the Anointeds the last time Lili and Jace saw him...
I'm gonna be honest, the fact that we're 12 stories into this block now and the phrase "Run home and cry to your mummy" has not been uttered once is a major disappointment.

The Curse of Wandering is a natural/unnatural phenomenon that occurs on the plane of Amonkhet. As Nicol Bolas and Razaketh actually have nothing to do with it and only exploited it for the propaganda by suggesting their was an afterlife that freed you from the Curse of Wandering.

Nope not in there bud.
I also got my art book in. It explains that while Bontu is in charge of embalming, Oketra is the one who is in charge of the mummies (since she is the one who takes care of the city) and that there is a (was) tension between the two gods over who got to control them.
