All I can say is that... Can we have a "Legendary" Land Called "Useless Island" Cuz I just love the story on how Jace traded "Useless Island" for a more, "useless" Island
Just a bit of speculation based off the new enchantment Legion's Landing // Adonto, the First Fort flavor text: There is a (vampire) queen of the Legion of Dusk. I am interested to know more about her, and wonder if she will be a player in Rivals of Ixalan. Either she'll be revealed as already in the 'new world' having arrived disguised as a captain, or they'll use the 'ruler needs to get their hands dirty' trope and she'll arrive, for the first time on the continent, in full force to claim the Immortal Sun. Either way, hope we get to learn more of her.
The queen is called Miralda, see the attached file from the worldbuilding panel. The current viceroy residing on Ixalan as the Legion's head is named Relo.
Just something that is nagging in my mind. Has the similarity of the Binding symbol to Azorius Senate sigil brought up? I have seen people on Reddit claiming that it was in fact the symbol of the Threefold Sun, but this was pretty much debunked by Huatli's story, because she does not recognize it either. And the imagery of "triangle and circle" is repeated.
We know that Azor I was a planeswalker. Might there be a connection?

Yeah but communis opinio, as far as there is one, is more in ugin:
Here's The Case of for Ugin on Ixalan.
[quote]Given how we keep learning things about Ugin, I wanted to take a second to point out all the evidence that supports Ugin’s involvement on Ixalan at some time in the past:
First up is the mural in the background of the Rivals of Ixalan key art. The figure on the right is depicted in Jade and what appears to be faded green paint. More importantly, we see the figure breathing some sort of colorless fire. Compared to the sunbird depicted to the left which appears to have once been painted red, the ‘fire’ doesn’t appear to have had red pigment.
Next is the dragon banner that Huatli is holding in the Rivals of Ixalan key art. Based on the prominent eyebrow, eye, and snout designs, you can tell this is intended to be the same figure as the mural. Here we can add to the evidence wispy chin hair and the spike-like scales around Ugin’s elbows. This is notably NOT a depiction of Gishath
The concept art from the world guide shows an Ugin-like figure. The ‘feathers’ off to the side resembles Ugin’s hood and the piece on the top looks like one of Ugin’s horns (as if viewed from profile).
More concept art from the world guide show designs that look suspiciously like Ugin’s blocky horns. Might we subtly be seeing Ugin’s influence showing up everywhere?
Ixalan’s Binding is a glowing sigil made up of much smaller designs remiscent of the designs on Ugin’s hood.
We’ve also seen these kind of binding glyphs before, specifically the ones Jace learns from Ugin to bind the Eldrazi.
The fact that Ixalan was hidden from Ral’s Project Lightning Bug seems to imply a kind of magic that Ugin specializes in: Morph.
As a feathered dragon, Ugin is a perfect position to represent Quetzlcoatl, the Nahuatl god of wind and wisdom (which also seems like a match for Ugin). It’s important to note that Ugin’s depiction of feathery wings first appeared in 2015 during Tarkir block (his depiction in The Lithomancer a year earlier notably did not show his wings). It’s a pretty perfect flavor match for a mesoamerican plane.
When Jace reads Bolas’ mind in Hour of Devastation, it reminds him of something. That crystalline mind he remembers and quickly forgets? It matches the description of Ugin’s mind from Revelation at the Eye.
This is all without getting into the Immortal Sun, the Threefold Sun, the sunbird or Aclazotz and the how and why of Ugin getting involved with something on Ixalan. To put it in perspective, I’m more confident about Ugin’s involvement at some point in Ixalan’s past than I was about Nicol Bolas’ end game using Lazotep Zombies.

The binding symbol got brought up a couple pages back, I think the general consensus thus far is that it's not Azor's. Time will tell though.
As far as Angrath goes,I think the best case is also Theros. Maybe he's a a favorite of Mogis, God of Slaughter?
All I can say is that... Can we have a "Legendary" Land Called "Useless Island" Cuz I just love the story on how Jace traded "Useless Island" for a more, "useless" Island
Only if it is just a land that produces One Blue mana, has Island type with the condition that mana created with it can't be used to cast Jace spells.

He's too smart /not bestial enough to be a Theros minotaur... a friend of mine also just pointed out that Angrath has FOUR horns. The only four-horned minotaur we have seen so far is Boros Reckoner (as the only Ravnican minotaur), and even then, he has them inversed (large lower pair and small upper)
If there is no connection between Angrath and Tahngarth, (at least inspiration for name from a hero long dead) I'd be VERY disappointed that the Creative is so lazy with name creating.
If he is from an already-known plane, my money is on Dominaria.
I'd wager that's what we've got here:
His name is similar in formation to Tahngarth
His chain magic is evocative of Chainer's
A number of Dominarian Minotaurs went to Otaria after the Invasion
I will say, Chainer (and the Cabal, and its associated pit fights) was the first thing I thought of when I saw that Angrath uses chains as his primary weapon.

Boros Reckoner doesn't have four horns. They have two horns and a helmet with hornlike designs. Look at a blown up image and its obvious. I'm pretty sure this is the first Minotaur with two sets of horns.
Looks like things might end on a cliffhanger. And looks like Jace and Vraska get somewhat friendly.

"You can tell how dumb someone is by how they use Mary Sue"
I hope they do a good job on showcasing HOW Vraska became more friendly to Jace, not just a sudden change of heart. After all, it's "for the first time" she wants to prevent death, it's gonna take a VERY convincing reason, not just Jace-vibe.
I don't know if I sound weird or proper, but I find it unintentionally hilarious that Huatli's first attempt to planeswalk was straight towards Kaladesh, and that causes her to think she has found Orazca.
Whoops.
I'm still laughing as I'm typing this.
Other than that, glad to finally see some info on Angrath. The name doesn't quite feel Amonkhet, so where could he have been from? Theros? Well, Vraska is definitely not from Theros, so although we have minotaurs as well as gorgons in Theros, I somehow think Angrath himself probably isn' a Therosian; too obvious an answer...
Maybe.... she starts to see Jace as a lover? The flavour text is rather pointing that she needs him to escape OR Jace and Vraska become friends in one battle. I really would like to see more complicated interactions between planeswalkers, not like with gatewatch. I had enough gatewatch stories and their TV like series.
What? Lover? Hell no. In all likelyhood he's going to tell her that he has no memory and she's going to deceive him into thinking they work together. Then one of two things happens on that waterfall. A) Jace has managed to endear himself to her and they're on decent terms leading to her desire to kill him as the guildpact to become complicated, or B) she sees Jace as a necessary tool to getting to Orazca. This is a very Black way to do things. And we know they're working together on it because Jace is quoted on Thaumatic Compass but we also know that that is actually Vraska's via River's Rebuke.

My only complaint about Hualti's first walk is that it was to a plane that we already know about and have been to. There are an infinite amount of planes out there and 2 in a row have hit planes that we have been to already.

I understand why they do this, as they want us to know intuitively what planes we're seeing. Also, since we know about Ghirapur already, it makes Huatli's assumption that it's Orazca all the more hilarious. Whether or not that's a good approach is another argument.
Am I the only one who's a bit miffed by the mention of "panther" in the latest story? Like, nothing at all indicates that the continent's megafauna is anything but dinosaurs. And where would a panther even fit into with theropod apex predators?
Now if it was one or two cards I might have ignored it. But four cards?
New theory: The bat god is active but somehow restrained by whatever is hiding in Orazca. Taking whatever power there is a very bad idea according to Headwater Sentries. Possibly this dark god will become free? Also Judging but what is happening to Arguel, a faction of the vampires might defect and follow the bat god.
Yes you are reading this right. I am speculating that Ixalan is basically a rebooted Zendikar even down to the vamps being the servants of dark "deities". What do people think? Is Jace gonna unleash yet another terror in the multiverse?

It struck me as odd, too... but I imagine neither the writers nor most of their audience spend much time thinking about how ecological systems actually work. It's Magic, after all...
I think the female pirate captains being the majority was a conscientious choice.
And after all the artwork is spoiled it still seems like the Vampires are the clear villains, the Pirates are neutralish and the Aztec and Mayans are the heroes with the Mayans being portrayed as the most sympathetic.
Also the Vampires are either going to wittingly or unwittling unleash the bat god and a plague upon the continent.
I think the only question will be if they do it intentionally or not, I wouldnt be surprised if they do it on purpose.

More fuel for your theory is the fact that Vraska was sent on this journey by Bolas. While the reason could be something simple like "enable Bolas to seize the power of Orazca", there's a very good chance the endgame is something more complex and more sinister. (Bolas seems to be addicted to complexity.) Unleashing a demon god of Night for unclear reasons would be very Bolas-esque.
If the Bat God shows up in this block, I wouldn't mind it being a literal God (as in, the creature type), but they like to reserve that, so it'll probably be something weird like Bat Demon.

The best case might be Theros if Theros Minotaurs displayed as much intelligence as he has in this story.
Headcanon'ing a reason for this peculiarity doesn't really make it any more likely.

We have Lannery Storm. We have Vraska. We have Brass Becky the Badass Granny. Now we have Ripley Vance. The name Brinely Rage (from Thundering Spineback) also sounds quite female. Captain Parrish from Chart a Course looks ALSO like a young woman, if we accept it is intended to be her in the art.
