Okay. No. I call BS on this Geocaching thing. Vampires have lost another 2000 miles since this morning, Merfolk have lost SIX thousand miles, and Pirates have gained another 10,000.
At this point these numbers are just so much random spaghetti thrown at a wall to see what sticks.
Can we please actually have Jace and Vraska be a thing (enough with the mind wipe retardation. Seriously read his Wiki Jace's mind is just a whiteboard as many times as its been erased).
I 100% agree with this. I in general find amnesia to be a rather lazy plot device.
And of all the ladies Jace has had tease with, I would be ok with having Vraska be the one who actually gets with him in the end... Because she displayed genuine chemistry with him (as opposed to, say, Liliana just up and deciding she was into him at one point) if nothing else.
I'm rooting for Jace/Vraska but I actually like the idea of Jace wiping Vraska memory, since it opens up some interesting story paths. Assuming that Jace either uploaded Vraska's memory into himself, or buried it deep emough for Bolas not to see it/bother looking for it, Jace has an ace in the hole for the final confrontation, just restore Vraska's memory and boom, one stone dragon.

Huh, this is disturbing. Part of me wonders now really if the players get to decide anything. And if Wizards find Vampire Conquistadors Winning as unappealing as suspected, then the company can have them ‘just barely lose’.

Though I would like either the Sun Empire or the Heralds to take Orazca (it was originally theirs, after all), I confess that the conquistadors winning would be amusingly problematic.
Anyway, as for the JacexVraska plot, I suspect that when Jace wipes Vraska's mind, he will leave her heart intact. She will retain the feeling of having loved someone, but she just won't be able to remember who, or why she has forgotten.
Read Jace's wiki. He blasts his own mind like half a dozen times. Its boring and done. ENOUGH mind blasting.

There was something like this..ages ago that the WWE did, a twitter poll for..I can't even remember. I remember seeing on Reddit the results they posted on the show..and the actual results on twitter being two completely different numbers..I never trust corporations and internet polling.
They took Kumena off the board pretty quickly. I thought he'd get a bit more screentime than that.
As for Jce and Vraska; my heart aches for both of these guys. I give all kudos to MTG creative for making me truly care about these two. Their development is some of the best writing these guys have done in a LOOOOOOOONG time. (EDIT: at least, since Yaheeni)
I'm really hoping that after we know what's going to happen actually happens, Jace at least allows Vraska to remember that he is not her enemy.
Great story about Vraska and Jace. I love their relationship. I'm actually okay with the twist of him later blanking out her memories (that'll be a tragic beat!), so long as it eventually gets paid off with him restoring them later. I love them both and I hope they get to be happy together forever after like Ravnica 3 or whatever.
Not quite sure how All Powerful Kumena managed to go down like a chump versus just two vampires. I guess the City's Blessing doesn't do much if you don't draw the right Ascend cards, huh?
EDITED TO ADD: Finally, somebody who sees Liliana for what she is.
-The scene with Kumena I felt could have been cut and put into another story or at least the part with Vona tossing him off so it felt like he was in control longer.
-We learn the Immortal Sun only boosts what power the user already has, which I guess is why its card form basically just boosts whatever deck your using?
-I'm kinda glad for the the scene between Tezzeret and Jace since not many newer vorthos have read AoA and know the full extent of how Tezzeret hurt Jace.
-We see when Jace got his tattoos and his obsession with the symbols we seen on him and his cloak.
-We see when Jace and Liliana begin to hook up again after Innistrad. I really hope this is the start of Jace and Liliana stopping their toxic...romance (if you can call it that).
-Jace finally members his childhood after ~15 years
-I love how Jace and Vraska forgave each other now knowing after seeing the true character of the person they once thought was an enemy.

You know I really like the relationship between Jace and Vraska. They've done a great job at making her a likeable character. She has flaws, redeeming qualities, combat prowess, and shows qualities of both colors...to me she's written well and has the whole package in the types of characters that can move and progress the story.
I would love to see an actual happy ending for a couple in the mtg universe for once. Hopefully this is it.
Kumena, while getting owned by named characters, was a huge let down. How easy it has been for every faction besides Jace and Vraska (who have the only tool that was mentioned thus far in aiding in finding the city mind you) is also a huge let down. Vona surviving the dinosaur is a huge let down. Hautli not waiting around to make sure her foe is properly defeated is a let down. This just felt like...Luke warm story progression to me? Jace and Vraska aside, this felt like the path of least resistance to get some kind of story done and move on with other deadlines. Why bother at that point...
The Kumena part was the definition of vagueness and averageness.
The Jace and Vraska part was absolutely amazing - and heart-rending, knowing what is to come. But I enjoyed it immensely. Almost read like Chris L'Etoile's pieces.

Jace and Vraska have something that was sorely missing between Jace and Liliana: Chemistry.
Whereas Jace's relationship with Liliana is basically the latter trying to make the former feel like he needs her (in the borderline abusive sense), Vraska is trying to be a positive force for Jace and isn't above displaying regret or empathy, and the two are incredibly close to a point I never saw between Jace and Liliana.
I really hope now that Vraska is becoming a sleeper agent whose memories Jace can unlock later, and that she doesn't die a horrible death because the MTG multiverse sucks.
That said, we shouldn't forget that Liliana has her fair share of problems and mistakes, and her own plot will probably be about finally actually taking charge of her life. In fact, you could argue that Liliana is similar to Jace in the sense that she's been manipulated by others practically her whole life. The difference is that she has actively tried to escape that.
I've got a thought that, based on what it says, the actual sun is shaped by whoever is in control of The Immortal Sun. The Sun Empire had control last, and the implication is that the Sun Empire controlled Zacama, Primal Calamity (from the art book). Maybe the Threefold Sun is the reflection of that power. Now that the Vampires are in control, Blood Sun seems to reflect them...

I don't really care for RIX in general but the Jace/Vraska dynamic in this story is amazing. Ixalan block in general made me more invested in Vraska and I'm kinda glad about that.

Clearly, the problem was that Kumena didn't have the City's Blessing. Vona got to draw Mavren Fein, then her Hunger had Kumena sacrificing half his creatures rounded up. Unfortunately, he only had the one...
Others have already articulated most of my thoughts on the latest story. However, I did realize something interesting about how the story might progress.
Jace remembers his whole life (save the events on Amonkhet) now, including his time spent with Alhammarret. The important thing to note about this is that aside from being major jerk, Alhammarret was a sphinx. You know who was recently confirmed to be both a sphinx and a major part of the plot? Azor. The same guy who roped Jace into the whole Living Guildpact thing with his maze. Now I'm wondering exactly how Jace will react when they meet, given this information.
Strangely I want more Kumena. He’s an interesting antagonist, regardless of how Rivals ends, I doubt he’ll just accept it, especially if it is anything less than total mer supremacy.
There were some cringeworthy moments surrounding the VraskaXJace part. I think in trying to make the audience sympathetic to her, they made aspects of Vraska’s inner dialogue a little too touchy-feely for me, but I’m perfectly cool with Vraska having more in common with Jace than Liliana.
In fact, Vraska can have Jace, so long as I’m the dude that ends up with Gideon
(jks, I bet he’s straight)
I kind of hope that Vampires may have a empathy moment In the Ixalan block but as they have the City’s Blessing now, they’ll probably turn a shade darker in morality.
I loved the second half of the story. I agree with others that note the Kumena part felt somewhat rushed and vague. The Jace and Vraska piece was incredibly well executed and made me forget that the Kumena part even existed.
Couple thoughts. Perhaps the reason that Kumena was so easily defeated is that the Immortal Sun amplifies ALL the traits of the individual. Reflecting his own image back could’ve been a result of his selfishness. The Immortals Sun just being a mirror - an amplifier of his own power - could reflect his arrogance. This, as an extension, perhaps his power was not as great as he thought. Perhaps it was an illusion of power created by his arrogance.
Or, as someone said earlier, maybe it was just boosting the vampires too. That seems more likely but it’s not as poetic.
I think Azor may have been manipulating Kumena as well. It spoke to him commanding Kumena to free it. This sounds like an Azor plea (given his art)
On the difference in between the two halves of the story. I noticed that this one didn’t credit a specific author. It says, “By R&D Narrative Team” so probably a collaborator work
My mind went Azor but I don't think so. Maybe the bat god and/or Elenda?
