I just thought about it - we have hints of Ugin amd Azor being involved (and honestly considering they're mostly visual aspect similarities I daresay it can easily be written off as coincidence for either of them), instead of thinking which one of them was it, why not both? Both Ugin (with Sorin and Nahiri, although that was a rather unbalanced partnership because Ugin being vastly more powerful) and Azor (essentially the creator of the original Guildpact and probably having the same advantage over the paruns because oldwalkers...) were oldwalkers with records of "co-operation" (a bit of a stretch, but with oldwalkers a lot of things are), so what if Ixalan was the result of that (or just Ugin being more powerful than Azor in this case, because I'm pretty sure that's the order in sheer power).
Ugin might have "created" the Immortal Sun (or brought it in from elsewhere), but Azor was the one in charge of the binding and transporting it to Ixalan when the whole backstory was going on and Ugin wasn't there. It'll be refreshing change for Ugin to have partners who do actual checking up (coughsorincough) and aren't that naive (coughnahiricough). In fact, considering Azor's relative interest in order (because Azorius), it wouldn't be surprising he's more enthusiastic than self-serving Sorin and efficient than "we-can-protect-the-world" Nahiri if the Immortal Sun was once again associated with some multiverse-level disaster...
I wonder how Bolas will react when he finds out that he inadvertently jeopardized one of his own schemes by doing what he did to Jace.
I actually laughed.
But yeah, after reading alot about Bolas, i realized he is a very pacient dragon, if he is unable to get the Immortal Sun, he will probably just look for something else.

With so much foreshadowing towards another return to Ravnica, I’m wondering if Bolas will be involved and if he’ll try and get Niv Mizzit, Rakdos, and Lazav as minions.

I don't think there's any way that Niv Mizzet's ego would ever allow him to subordinate himself to another being, even one as obviously more powerful as Bolas.
Lol, you can just save the picture, you don't have to screenshot my twitter
I'm like, 90% sure it's Elenda, as you all have surmised. Given the Temple of Aclazotz in the background, I wonder if it will have some flip card properties. Maybe one side Elenda, the other Alacazotz?
I'm just glad I am (maybe) right and Alacazotz is more important then the flavor on a one-off card.

Oh heck yeah. Aclazotz, the bat-god of night, the eternal enemy of the threefold sun. That seems important. Especially when the vampires refer to one of their beliefs as 'The Sinking Sun' and Elenda was 'blessed by the night itself'.

It might be Bolas first real "loss". While our heroes have stopped or altered parts of his plans they never stopped his plans;
Alara- While Ajani drove him off, he still got his recharge from the conflux.
Zendikar- Unleshed the Eldrazi to see if any threats arise to an muti-planar threat arises. Thanks to Ugin the gatewatch stopped the eldrazi but the art book implies Bolas isn't to worried about Ugin at this moment.
Kaladesh (and most likely Phyrexia)- Have Tezzeret find and build him a planar portal. Gatewatch stopped the hugeness in Kaladesh but its comfier Tezzeret took the core to Bolas.
Amonkhet- Samut, Djeru and the rest of the survivors helped save Hazoret and kill the Scorpion God. Rest went as planed.

I just love even more how it interlocks the Ixalan elements. While the vampire conquistadors on a bit on the nose, the added use of Mesoamericans having a bat gods of night/darkness to connect it all add a nice layer.

Wouldn't be that far fetched I think. She is the one who brought vampirism to the LoD. So she probably went to Ixalan to look for the Immortal sun but found the Bat God instead who made her the first vampire. I think a white Saint Elenda legend who tranforms into a black Bat God could make a really cool card and flavor home run.

Who do you think would be the bigger threat in this story: Kumena or the Bat God?
Sssssssoooooooooo... As if pirates battling dinosaur riders and conquistador vampires and Merfolk wasn't wild enough Orazca(supposedly?) Has mechs defending it.
Why would she transform into the bat god... If anything her standing there suggests he's the one who gifted her the powers of vampirism. I don't want two characters stapled onto one card. I want each to get a card.

Not really anything new. It's just bigger than the ones we've seen already.

It looks like the only reason Bolas didn't go to Ixalan hismelf was the bane preventing him from leaving. Even if Vraska doesn't give Bolas the sun, he can still come to Ixalan after the bane has been broken to retrieve it himself. Really, it looks more like a "I win either way" situation for Bolas.
