I imagine he started as Red, and slowly went to Rakdos as the months turned to years, he may never shift back to just Red even if he gets out.
He has been here for years apparently, that is a long time, permanently reminded by everything and everyone that this plane has kept him from his family.
On Angrath's color alignment, I would venture that he is R at his core. The blurb today mentioned that he was a blacksmith on his home plane (which has historically been aligned as decidedly R/W/(R/W)), and there's no question that he's currently in the "whatever it takes to get out of this hellhole" mode, which is B/R/(B/R). Could his planeswalker card be Mardu? Wizards has seemingly been trying to hit more three-color walkers as of late (Sarkhan Unbroken, Tamiyo, Field Researcher, Nicol Bolas, God-Pharaoh (though admittedly, there was already a Grixis Nicol Bolas planeswalker card). Maybe Angrath is next on the spreadsheet?
As far as the Ugin/Immortal Sun/Bolas issue goes, if the "Last Guardian" truly is Ugin, and it was Ugin who built the barrier keeping planeswalkers on Ixalan to protect the Immortal Sun from being stolen by planeswalkers, then it's possible that Bolas's "one very specific use" for it could be dealing with Ugin, since Bolas learned only recently that Ugin was still alive.
I'd take a dozen Angraths, Tamiyos and Vraskas over quite a few of the human walkers.
Don't forget Ajani, who seems to be the only one in the Gatewatch who has a f*****g clue.
Interesting that he was long considered the least popular of the Lorwyn 5, even though he's always been my favorite.
Outside of old walkers, Ajani is my favorite too! Tamiyo is a close second, now Angrath could join her. Then there's Daretti and Dovin. Let's cast Zombie Apocalypse and kill all human walkers (not by game rule, of course), Keya could just fade into spirit realm to avoid that.
And, to a certain degree, I love Ashiok's design as well, though I know Ashiok would kill me with the most horrible way possible.
Sad we didn't get a story, but the Q&A was really good. Very interesting revelations. Jace on Ixalan by accident was a surprise to me.
I don't really see Planeswalkers as Human or Non-Human, it's really about the character. My favorites are Jace and Tamiyo, a human and a Soratami... but I tend to prefer humans in general because it means I can get beautiful men like Jace on cards I feel bad for our friend Angrath too though. Blacksmith Minotaur definitely sounded like a Theran for a moment. Then again, he's too intelligent to be a Theran one.
Was already hyped for Angrath but now hes already my favourite character of Ixalan. I hope he survives and manages to find his home back. I kinda want him to join Vraska and jayce in the quest to find the Sun.
I wonder if whoever placed the Immortal Sun on Ixalan is also the one who sealed it, as a safeguard. Make Orazca hidden to the locals, make leaving Ixalan impossible for walkers. Heck, it could have been Elenda herself.
Oh dear.... poor Angrath's not gonnabe a happy man even after he finally gets home.... Whatever will happen to his little girls now?
And yeah, seconding all you guys who said that if we're Angrath, we'd want to blow up the entire plane too.
That aside, a bit sad that this completely debunks my "Angry teenage bull" theory... Oh well, at least the alternative was good also.
And Saint Elenda is alive... supposedly. Might she have any relation to the Bat God Aclazotz? I mean, it's not like his temple was found by the River Heralds or the Sun Empire, but instead a vampire (in a Blood Fast, admittedly, and we've seen that Blood Fast is akin to severe withdrawal, so this is a bit iffy)
Anyway MtG realizes a lot of its players are dads and moms I guess. Hundred year old Lilys and Bolases with no kids? I mean come on.
Lili, as healer-turned-necromancer, definitely knows how to deal with unwanted pregnancies. And knowing her self-interest, all pregnancies would be unwanted.

Couldn't she just raise the aborted kid? I mean, if we get cozy happy minotaur family we should also get an Adams family...

The secret to enjoyable Commander games is not winning first, but losing last.

Ajani didn't share their hubris. Maybe it was his past of being vengeful on Alara that humbled him, or his experiences on Theros, but he knew when fighting would be a losing proposition and when his victories were just flukes (which his win against Bolas was, since he would have been rekt without the Maelstrom). The Gatewatch, by contrast, had their hands held by the plot. Now they're in the stage of developing from the aftermath of being humbled so that they can be more competent threats against Bolas in the future.
EDIT: going thru her feed I also see that she state Mavren scene in the race part 1 is month or so before Vraska crashes her ship. Unknown where his is currently.
“There are no weak Jews. I am descended from those who wrestle angels and kill giants. We were chosen by God. You were chosen by a pathetic little man who can't seem to grow a full mustache"
"You can tell how dumb someone is by how they use Mary Sue"
That presumes that Post-mending our Lili would have physical relations.
With Jace, for example. Which is as outright said in some of the stories as it is posible in PG-13 medium. And it's good they didn't procreate, because their kid would need so many therapy sessions.

Angrath's reason for being how he is makes perfect sense now. I don't think many of us could have guessed that this was why he was so desperate.

At least we now know that it's a plane we've never heard of. That certainly kills all the speculating on that front.

Yep, from kitties to cats, instead of enjoying their childhood now he has to deal with their puberty and acting up.
Minotaur has always been the most relatable creature in MtG.

"You can tell how dumb someone is by how they use Mary Sue"
The question is will he stay that way when he leaves Ixalan?
It'd be neat if we're getting a sympathetic RB character that won't color-shift because they became "good".
