Well, I didn't expect that, but I'm now interested in seeing her finally interact with her spiritual successor.
That reminds me: Considering why Ajani went to Dominaria, I wonder how many Oaths we're gonna get from this set.
Well depends on how much they are helping. Tamiyo is an ally but she never full on joined. I could see a few walkers (like Sorin for example) who ally themselves for the gatewatch but then go do their own thing. I do think we will see at least one old-lore walker join up tho.

Granny Jaya returning is really a nice twist. And I really hope that her inclusion means JODAH is finally getting a card.
First Jaya was a task mage and Jodah the non-aging archmage. Then Jaya ascended and became something more than Jodah. And now she is back, again mortal, but still a walker. And Jodah is still the ageless archmage.
Except that now, he has a potentially ALSO ageless partner/girlfriend in Jhoira. This might lead to some interesting interactions, even a "love triangle".
I also believe that we will see Teferi. After all, he always was a temporal mage, and if anyone would find a way how to cheat time and aging, it is him.
Radha, as a half-elf, would have a prolonged lifespan compared to humans (Keldons in particular), so I expect to see her as well.
As for the theory of alternative timeline Jodah, I am not buying it. I remember Jodah saying "Jaya is gone"...not *dead*. And that her impetuousness and recklessness "eventually cost her her life" - but if that happened offworld, how in Nine Hells would Jodah know it? Also, I just reckon that she never returned for some reason and he concluded she must have died.

I hope from a storytelling standpoint, if Liliana is at all in focus during Dominaria, that we get to see a snark-fight between Jaya and Lili. Because really, if Liliana thinks she can win a verbal sparring match against one of the most-acerbic tongues of the multiverse, she is going to be sorely mistaken.

That's not a fair fight. Jaya's had a two-millenia head start on her.

I would like to see a Jodah card in the near future. From the little I know of him, he seems to be too important a figure to not have one by now.
Honestly, I'm hoping we get back the locations that were permanently phased out by Teferi. Nicol Bolas demonstrated to Teferi that his skills with time far exceed the temporal mage. Seeing how that segment of the world was phased out prior to the mending, Dominaria's role as a nexus plane, and Nicol Bolas's desire to return to his god-like self, I am hoping that is part of the plot and the phased out lands hold a key to Bolas's plot.
Also, kinda excited to see Jhoira again.
They used commander products to foreshadow events before, Teferi's Protection being a high profile card brings the story of what happened there back for a lot of new players. One way or another, this is going to be relevant.
I also believe that we will see Teferi. After all, he always was a temporal mage, and if anyone would find a way how to cheat time and aging, it is him.
Given what I said above, he's nearly certainly in. I do hope he aged somewhat though. I think the Morgan Freeman look would suit him
There was some talk earlier in the thread about the possibility of two consecutive Dominaria sets in a row. I think this is a very likely possibility. they could do one set where they just set up the world, where the story focus is more on how each location became like that and based on what (possibly in combination with one or two origin stories), and then when the setting is established have Bolas arrive with his Lazotep army and have the walkers of old join up with the new ones for a "hell no, this is one interplanar invasion too many" story.
Looking forward to Bolas scolding Chandra again when they fight, only to have Jaya step in with what will no doubt be the flavor text diss of the century and roast his draconic hiny

The secret to enjoyable Commander games is not winning first, but losing last.
If my post has no tags, then i posted from my phone.
Given that Dominaria is such a huge and diverse world, they could do multiple location-based sets here rather than hopping around from mini-themed plane to mini-themed plane. Expansions following Dominaria could be "Aerona," "Jamuraa," "Shiv," "The Burning Isles," "Otaria," Etc.
For that matter there's also no reason smaller planes like Amonkhet and Theros couldn't have been conceived as different kingdoms on different continents in a larger, more expansive world.

What's the point of having Planeswalkers if they're not going to planeswalk?

So the first half of magic sets basally?

Yah you know, that portion of magic they have actively said was a mistake. I'm not certain how they are going to fit Dominaria into the 'world of hats' but I'm certain that's what they are doing.

I don't know if they said it was a "mistake". Mechanically, everything before about Tempest is weird. But flavorwise is another thing; the only problem for early Magic in flavor is early planeswalkers' nigh-omnipotence. Just remember to wear your pastels to the prerelease.
Also, any new info?

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!

The mistakes where 1) having a game about wizards who can travel between worlds then focus on only one world for ~20+ sets in a row and B) use up many ideas for new worlds as contents on Dominaria turing into the opposite of a plant of hats, which also the biggest issue they had retuning to it.
