Hello guys, planning to run a MTG based Dungeon World campaign, but I still don't exactly get what a Planeswalker is supposed to be for the rest of the people.
An example could be Kamigawa or Lorwyn, where humanoids look pretty much the same (in Kamigawa all humanoids share asian-like traits and in Lorwyn they are halflings). So, what happens when suddenly, someone who looks different enters? I haven't been able to read older MTG stories, but it would seem they don't look surprised when someone walks into their plane and starts meddiling into its affairs.
So, how does a neowalker blends in with society and why do people usually lets them meddle into the affairs of that plane?
Simply put they rationalize. On your plane there is no such thing as elves. So when you meet an elf what do you do? Assume it's something else, a long eared human(aka deformed) or whatever the closet thing you know. Something a little more out there, you see a leonin on a plane with none, what's your thought? Monster! More than likely, or maybe your the more understanding type and simply realize there are wonders in your world that you aren't aware of and this creature is one of them.
So it will really depends on what your walkers are and where they go. The only general rule is that they shouldn't know what they really are and should assume they are something common unless they can't.
Beings native to a plane tend to not know anything about the existence of planeswalkers. There is an entire uncharted realms article, Project Lightning Bug, that is about Ral Zarek and Jace trying to keep the existence of planeswalkers a secret from Niv Mizzet.
I think that most planes aren't aware that there's a whole multiverse of other planes out there, so the vast majority of those planes' citizens have no reason to know or assume that planeswalkers are even a thing.
So yeah, as others have said, people just rationalize things away or go with a different fantastical explination.
Depends on how much the appearances differ, residents might not even notice. On Tarkir and Kamigawa where people's looks were Asian aligned, they might find Caucasian and African looking people to be "human, but foreign", while odd, would not be seen as monstrosities. On Lorwyn, people might think visiting humans are either Elves with short ears, tall Kithkin, or tiny Giants. People like Ajani would probably face some resistance, like Ajani puts up his mantle to cover his feline feature, Tamiyo would go invisible, and Ashiok just relish in people's fear when they saw Ashiok.

They mention that happening in Amonkhet with Nissas eyes, Chandras hair and most of the Gatewathcs lack of a tan.
IMO because of how common magic and the fantastic is, seeing something odd now and then has made people more open minded. When its common to see humanoid and other intelligent non-humans.
Something I think we all know but its hasn't been point out Temmet is going to die at some point in the story and be embalmed.

And who's gonna do that, I wonder, or are the demons, horrors, and Mr. Bad killing people while Anointed mummies busy mummify the recent dead?
Could be, the way the mummies are favored in Amonkhet they could still be trying to mechanically keep going despite the chaos.
He also might have died off screen already in preparation for the Hours.

I don't remember which story or if I'm even remembering it correctly, but wasn't he in one of the preparation temples when Liliana and Jace were out Scooby-Dooing? That could have been set up for him to be embalmed.
