In Godsend, Pt. II, when Anax and Cymede are discussing who is responsible for putting the Nyxborn animal heads in the Kolophon in Akros, Anax mentions that it could be the work of madman:
"'Whoever is doing this knows you, Anax,' she said. 'They're trying to erode your sense of security, which is fundamental to you. I think this is someone close to you.'
"'It's probably just madman,' Anax replied.
"'He is not so mad as to thwart our guards,' Cymede said."
Do we know who madman is? Is he a character that has been mentioned before, or is he a new character created by the author?
I'm thinking that it's just a typo and was meant to say "It's probably just [a/some] madman [crazy person]," and Cymede's reply was meant as "He [this hypothetical crazy person] isn't so crazy as to be careless/unthreatening."

Just my take on it as I haven't read Godsend.
